That's a nice word.
Hope.
What exactly is the meaning of hope? Well, let's see. There's three definitions in this Dictionary.
1) a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.
Nope.
2) a feeling of trust.
Don't like this one. It's too short.
3) want something to happen or be the case.
Perfeeeect.
My name, is Hope. Or, so my mom says. I'm a Unicorn, unlike Rumble and mom who are Pegasi. Dinky however, is a Unicorn. She helps me learn spells and how to control my magic, and I think Dinky is my mom, magic wise.
Mom told me she found me in an ally of Manehattan. I know, cliché. Trust me, it's not.
Twilight has been in rule since before I remember. Mom says that she killed her mom, which is pretty sad. But, I never really met her. It's like saying there's no food when your not hungry.
The Gang (basically me, Mom, Rumble, and Dinky) always run from place to place in Manehattan but we never get to stop and rest for a good week or so. It's always somewhere new. I even wake up sometimes to an unknown place, but I see mom sleeping half the time so I'm okay. Dinky's usually up, so I just get up and talk to her.
~
Depressing as it is, I'd say this is about my 10th move this month, and so I wake up to another unknown place. The ally was lit by the sun shining in. We were all huddled on blankets, which were uncomfortably itchy. Dinky isn't up this time, Rumble is. I avoid stepping on mom and Dinky, and I make my way to the where Rumble is sitting in the front of the ally.
"Morning Scoot - hi Hope", Rumble said, turning his head to look at me - but realizing it was me, his smile dropped.
"Disappointed?" I asked/snapped at him. I'm usually grumpy in the morning. I knew he was upset for it to not be me, but I want to know why.
"I thought it would be your mother."
He turned back to look at the buildings that we faced.
"Where are we now?" I asked.
"Downtown Times Square, near the Theatre", Rumble said.
"How do you get here so fast?" I asked, because somehow I sleep so soundly.
"Dinky teleports you, me and your mother fly", Rumble sighed. "I feel like your real mother is Dinky sometimes."
"But, mom found me, not Dinky", I said.
"I know that." He looked down at his hooves.
I turn around to see mom waking up, but Dinky didn't.
Mom hugged me good morning, then she turned to Rumble and asked him something I didn't understand.
"Is Dinky recovering?"
"Her wounds are deep, it will be awhile before we have our protection", Rumble answered, still looking at his buildings.
"What happened!?" I asked, suddenly overwhelmed of the thought that Dinky was hurt.
Mom looked at me.
"Dinky fought a crazed pony last night for your protection."
"Why would she do that though?" I asked.
"Because she loves you Hope, almost as much as I do", Mom sighed. She turned and looked at Dinky. "She's done so much for you, and all I do is watch."
"Your a great mom", I say, hugging her.
"Thank you", Mom said, hugging back.
~~
Purple hooves trotted harshly on the floors of the Crystal Palace. The pony busted through the door, and a crystal guard waited next to the shining throne.
"Your highness!" he said, running over.
"What is it?"
"Aquines is planning to raid in Equestria with it's surrounding allies."
"Then call in the leaders from the other countries", the pony ordered. "We must schedule an appointment here, in the Crystal Empire."
"But Princess, what do we do if they take over Equestria?"
Twilight Sparkle stared at the guard with an evil expression.
"There will be no taking over because I am the leader of this pathetic country", Twilight hissed. "Order a patrol to all our allies to let note of this meeting. Be descriptive, precise, wise."
"Your making a fool of yourself", Princess Celestia coughed harshly, laying in the corner of the room with chains keeping her from moving.
"Oh Celestia, I'm not", Twilight laughed, turning towards her. "Now that I have all three of the Princess' magic, and one of them is yours."
"You know that friendship will over-raid your evil", Princess Celestia hissed. "There will be a solution to all these problems."
"No there won't", Twilight said. "I have all the magic in the world. Well, country."
The guard left the room on his way to fulfill his quest. Twilight began to cast a spell, red magic beginning to absorb her. Her eye color wasn't purple, it was red. The white part, now black. A spray of magic was then cast through the whole room, making all the objects quiver.
Twilight had done it. She had mastered the last spell she needed in order to be un-stoppable. It had taken more than a few days, it had taken a year to complete. And the prophecy had been fulfilled - foretold by Princess Luna. No-pony has been able to complete this type of magic, but somehow Twilight did it.
Celestia looked at Twilight with tears forming in her eyes. Her student had turned evil, and she was just watching with no power of helping.
"No", Celestia spat out, before the red magic spread across her.
Chapter 2: Corn and Farmers Galore
I saw the red magic spread through the sky. Twilight had mastered that spell that she claimed to be studying. There was going to be a war, because we had gotten threats from the outer enemies. It wouldn't be fond seeing fighting, but I can't control what goes on. Mom screamed when she saw the red, and she quickly began packing.
We trotted quickly on the sidewalk with our belongings in the saddlebags. We had to leave Manehattan I assumed, because mom said to get on her back. I jumped on her back, and she flew off with Rumble struggling behind. He had offered to put Dinky on his back, but it wasn't really efficient to the way he flew and ran. We flew over the towering buildings and over a bridge that I didn't know the name too.
Rumble made it in front of mom, and he glided in the breeze. Mom stayed steady so I wouldn't fall. We increased altitude, and I put my body underneath the strap of mom's saddlebag. I looked down to a sight I still wasn't quite used too. The buildings seemed like small blocks, and I almost threw up before I realized we were decreasing altitude. We landed on a field of grass, at the edge of Manehattan.
"We'll have to be farmers for now", Rumble said, looking in the distance to see corn.
"The rural life, never expected to come here", Mom said, and chuckled.
I climbed off, and the grass underneath my hooves was soft. The grass in Manehattan wasn't as soft as this grass, it was all spikey.
"Come on, we have to flee", Rumble said, running towards the corn, with Dinky slightly bouncing on his back. I fell slowly behind Mom, but she was pretty fast. Rumble slid into the corn field, and he tried not to make a noise. Me and mom did the same. Then, he sprinted through the field. Some of the corn stalks whacked me in the snout, and it hurt to be honest. I couldn't admit if I was hurt, because we had other problems then a bruise.
There was finally a clearing, but there wasn't anything on the other side. There was just forest. Rumble hesitated.
"I thought there was a farm here", Rumble said. "I remember Uncle Bary's farm..."
"Don't you remember?" Mom asked. "Uncle Bary's Corn Farm was shut down four years ago because of the taxes. I'm surprised his master corn is still here."
"Can't we eat the corn?" I asked.
"Of course we can", Rumble said. "Put some in your saddlebag."
Mom picked some corn, which was a struggle because she had to rip out the root and then take the corn. But, the corn went back to it's original place, with more corn ears where mom had taken it.
"It's dark magic corn", Mom said. "I know, sounds funny. But Uncle Bary put a special soil that made the corn regrow every time some pony took it."
I didn't say anything back, but it did sound funny.
