Chapter 1: The Past of A Stallion and The Journey It Begins
Load Full StoryNext Chapter"Daddy, when is mommy coming home?" Asked Midnight Banshee. I always hated that question.
"She's just....taking her time." I said in a nervous voice.
"Why?" Asked Midnight.
"Well she's just..." -i smiled on how rediculse I sounded- "really taking her time," I replied.
I kneeled my head down over the plate in front of me. It was loaded with four individual piles of food. There was roasted radroach meat, diced bloated-perisprite, roasted manicore meat, (3 meats on one plate equals a slight chance of cholesterol problems) and cinnamon apples that came out of a pre-war can.
Midnight had all the goodies. Pre-war carrots, punga fruit, a bottle of sparkle cola, and a mirelurk cake-there were always her favorite.
She looked back and forth between her plate and my gun on the table. I really didn't want to talk to her about why its on the table. I didn't want her anxiety to get the better of her.
We finished off our plates and I levitated the gun off the table. It was a 12ga. (slugged) semi-auto shotgun, with a red dot sight. I hovered the gun in the air along the right side of my head. I trotted next to the front door and looked outside from the window. Midnight then starting looking out. I put my left hoof against her chest and pushed her away.
"Dad, what's going on?" asked Midnight.
"Its nothing honey, go on up to bed," I replied
"Dad, I'm not a little filly anymore, I can help," said Midnight.
"Alright," I began, "daddy has made a.....very bad deal with bad people"- I levitated my 9mm pistol out and let Midnight levitate it- " I need you to take this pistol and hide were not even I can find you. OK."
"OK...... please, be safe," Midnight finished.
Midnight hurried up the stairs, with the satisfying crash of a door slamming.
I looked back outside.....waiting. For something, anything, to happen. What have I done by scaring my baby foal. I didn't want this to happen but it did. This time I've gone to far. Even I won't survive this, but Midnight deserves to live, even the world beyond these thin walls of metal, concrete, and the endless color of torch li-
*KNOCK,KNOCK,KNOCK* ... *CREEK*
"Ah, Mr. Moc *DEEP BREATHE IN*...you got a death wish?" asked a grey pony with a yellow mane and tail, mixed with green spray paint to add streaks in his mane.
"Not at the moment," I replied, levitating my shotgun vertical to the side of the door, to keep it out of sight.
"That's not what I heard," he replied back.
A group of deranged looking ponies jumped from the shadows, hired guns most likely (or worst raiders.)
"I'm pretty sure me and you were both told different things." I added.
"Again, not what I heard," he replied again.
"How much, to just make this slide," I said, levitating a bag of caps in them.
"I'd say about every ounce of blood on your body," he said (I feared the worst,) " now how about you step out, and I won't touch a hair on that pretty little pony of yours in there."
"Haha, what a lie," I replied.
I levitated my shotgun right into view, and wrapped my levitation spell around the trigger. *BANG* The grey pony's head showered across his allies face and chest. The "sticky stuff" could only be described by two words. Beef Stew.
I dove back into the house and slammed the door. As soon as I did, a barrage of loud noises and the tearing of metal and wood. They were unloading there guns at me. I ran to my table and flipped it over to its side. I took cover behind my new best friend in this battle.
A loud shredding of wood came from the door. A large hole then appeared at where my top part of my door was. A solid black pony with makeshift cloth and leather armor took it place. He was holding a shorty shotgun in his mouth. He bent down and dropped it on my porch and lean his head in the hole, and wrapped his mouth around the the door knob.
The door flew open with a another one of those raggidy armor ponies leading the way. He was grey and was holding a bat in his mouth. I raised up and fired a shell in his chest. A fresh hole opened in his right shoulder, and freshly painted the wall behind him.
More of the ponies came out of my once whole door way. There were more than I can count. A red pony started charging from my left. I opened another shell into him. Three of the ponies started charging out of the door. I unleashed two shells, turning all ponies into entrails and mystery meat.
More piled in, and in, and in. I was running low on the endless amount of ponies that flowed out of the door. I pressed the trigger on the shotgun to hear a click. A pony with an SMG grinned at the click of my gun. I launched the gun at him and he dashed back. I quickly drew a knife and launched at the maniac at my door.
A constant ringing rang through my house, as flashes of white light spewed out of the pony's SMG that was hit by my gun. I felt nothing at first as I quickly drift into unconscious, then I felt the stings of twenty bullets lodged into my body. I went out my door, and started rolling down the front of my house. The last thing I saw before blackness was a massive pony, with the same crude armor on as his brethren, standing over me.
I felt the warmth of light showering over my face and body. I was filled with holes and riddled in pain. I reached into my pocket, surprised, and arched a health potion. My body began nummimg as a drank the potion. Bullets began pushing out of the holes scattered in me. Then all the pain went away as the last bullet hole sealed up.
I swear I felt death touch me. Pain swelled all around me, yet I never thought why I survived. I knew something wrong had happened, but not for me. Then, I saw light twinkle in the corner of my eyes.
I looked at the light and focused on it. I saw th....that it was my house. I ran towards it in fear that my baby girl was still in there. I was touched by the flames that ate my house. The pain was unbearable and unspeakable. I couldn't get in without dying for a possibility that my young made was....actually...still in there.
I called for her name, over, and over, and over. I wanted to see her face, her mane, the way she reminded me of her mother. Yet all I saw was, what could of been, ashes of her.
I saw a note on the floor. It was something I haven't seen for a long time, pencil and paper. I hovered in front of me and began to read it. It read:
So how long ago has it been, since we last spoke?
I felt it was a life time, since i got this scar.
Let us see how much you daughter fairs against the burns.
Better hurry up, clocks ticking
Tic toc tic toc.
I yelled as loud as I could with no end in sight of my anger. I need...to kill...something, anything. I only saw vengeance that blinded me into darkness that told myself to stay away. I need this to go away, yet my heart ached for it to end, not vengeance but life itself.
"*sniff* don't worry baby... daddy's going to see you soon."
.
To think this isn't me. I'm not him but that was the first memory that came to me as I see light for the first time in over two years. I felt both warm and scared at the same time, as a pair of hooves and a something scaly wrapped around me and helped me onto my hooves.
I then saw before me friends and heroes who surrounded me in happiness, friendship, and love. It was hard to remember how I got here, but all my memories began flowing back into me like the clop of hooves.
Yet, I'm getting ahead of myself, am I? The ponies around me began telling me how I got here. The talk individualy yet combined into one story. However, let me start at the beginning, my story.
