James

WHAP! The sounds of James' axe hitting the tree broke the silence in the Everfree Forest. A bead of sweat trickled down his face as he swung the axe at the tree again. WHAP! The tree fell down almost instantly, clearing some of the snow that was already beginning to cover the ground. With both Marba and Scootaloo in healing and Zecora taking care of them both, James was tasked with cutting down trees to keep the fire going in the hut. Although it felt like menial labor, James didn't mind it. He enjoyed what little time he had away from the others. Scootaloo could barely form a sentence before coughing her lungs out, and Marba had begun to respond to anything James said with "You're dumb." However, James was getting sick of listening to Zecora's nonstop rhymes most of all. At first he found it humorous, but after a few hours of her rhymes, he wanted to blow his brains out.

James began cutting the wood into logs, planning what to do next. "This incident with Scootaloo could actually work in my favor." He thought aloud. "If I can take the changeling that tried to kill her into custody with Marba, there's no doubt Rarity would be in love with me!" He swung the axe down again. "It's best to go back to Ponyville while Marba's wounded. That'll give me plenty of time to capture the changeling."

After chopping the logs up to a fair size, he loaded the wood onto his sled and returned to Zecora's hut. Zecora greeted him as he neared the hut. She had been waiting outside of the hut for him, bundled in her cloak to keep warm. "I'm glad to see you came back unharmed. You took so long that I became alarmed!" Greeted Zecora. James forced out an awkward chuckle. "Sorry about that. I went a bit farther to get wood this time around." He replied, gesturing to the wood on the sled. Zecora nodded. "You collected a fair amount of wood, that I can see. But before we go on, is there something you'd like to tell me?" She asked, nearing him. James was surprised. "Actually, yeah." He replied. "I was thinking about going back to Ponyville. Y'know, just to tell Rarity and the others that Marba's alright." Zecora nodded as if she already knew what he was going to say. "A great plan, that is. I'll show you the way back, but we must leave soon, lest the Timberwolves attack." She said.

James unloaded the logs off the sleigh and let Zecora guide him to the town. Zecora insisted that he bring the sled and axe with the intention of collecting some more wood for the fire. James had taken down a few trees along the way for Zecora, causing the trip to run longer than he had initially predicted. Luckily, Ponyville was surprisingly closer to her hut than James thought, being no more than an hour's walk.

"Thanks for helping us out." James said to Zecora as he returned the sled to her. Zecora raised an eyebrow at him. "No trouble at all. However, I fear that your return to the Diamond Boutique will be stalled." She replied, standing in his way. "What do you mean?" James asked, worried that she may have figured out his plan.

Sadly for James, his worries were correct. "While you slept, I stared into the fire last night. What I saw gave me a terrible fright." She told him, reminding him of her gypsy magic. "The flames whispered your intentions, the ones you hadn't mentioned." James backed away from her. "What did you see?" He asked her. "You wish to rid of Marba with massive greed, all to quench your sexual need." She answered, glaring at him. "I'm afraid that your shenanigans shall end here. I'm turning you in to the mare you hold dear."

James sighed. "Fine..." He muttered. "Lead the way." Zecora smiled triumphantly as she turned away to go to the boutique. Just then, James took the opportunity to strike. He swung the axe at Zecora with all his might. Just like that, Zecora had flung to the side, her head nearly falling off of her neck. James dropped the axe, approaching the body. Zecora's head nearly came off, clenching onto the neck by a few tendons. James thought quickly. He had to dispose of the body, but he had no idea what to do. He turned the sled and came up with a plan.

James spent the rest of the day getting rid of her body. He put Zecora on top of wood on the sled and hauled it back to the hut. Next came the hard part. James skinned her corpse and cut her into numerous, tinier pieces. Afterwards, he carried the remains into the hut. Still asleep. Thank god. He thought as he threw the hunks of flesh into the cauldron along with a bucket of war. After loading the logs below the cauldron, he set them on fire with the intentions of making some zebra stew. After letting it boil, it was nearly done. All he had to do next was give it the color of the stew. Chuckling, he put some of Zecora's elixer into the cauldron, making it look just right.

Before leaving, James wrote a note for Marba and left it on the table:

"Zecora and I are going out to purchase some herbs from the market. Won't be back for a while. Managed to kill a shitload of bunnies out there, so we made a stew out of 'em. Don't let Scootaloo have any, most ponies are vegetarian."
