Pride and parenting

It's is only a few weeks till the first birth in Pierre's herd. To say he was collected, ready and calm would be a bold face lie. Pierre was a mess. He wished he was back fighting for his life then waiting for not one but three mares to give birth. The doctors worried about the health of the foals adding to his stress.

"Where is that tufuedog in garlic sauce and hot chocolate?" Asked Roseluck

"And my hay fries and rocky road!" Called Love Struck

"Oh some milk duds with cheese for me!" Shouted Cloud Kicker.

Pierre was shocked the first few weeks of the cravings. They even asked for meat from time to time. He was never the type to settle down. He always believed in the love them and leave them. But his friends saw fit to hold a shotgun herding. So now he is waiting for the first half breed foals to be born. He could not help but laugh at the irony he joined the war to run from marrying one woman now that by a mystical chain of random events he lived to "escape" the war, but was now married to 3 mares. Must be the karma thing the Captain had mentioned from time to time.

He has just finished his shopping when he bumped in to Big Tom. "Hey Frenchy!"

Pierre smiled. "Hey Big guy. How is the waters?" He replies.

"Calm even in the everfree. Met that seaserpent. The girls told us about. Head the size of a gunboat and long as a carrier that one. Nice conservationist, and vary sensitive abut his facial hair. The lake is extremely deep too. Nice place to sit in the suit and watch the fish." He looks left and right then adds in a whisper. "And the local mares swim." Said Big Tom with teasing smile.

Pierre just gives him a glare. "I have more mares then I can handle at the moment thanks."

Tom pats him on the back as they walk. "So how are the little ladies?"

Pierre chuckled. "Hungry and bigger every day. I'm just glad I got my Kämpher for when we need to rush to the hospital. Tho it is nice not having to hear your snoring any more. Having my own home has it's benefits."

Big Tom chuckled as he waved him of as they went separate ways in a intersection. Pierre was some what worried his step father was a drunk and his mom was well... a lady of the night. He him self was a gambler before the war betting on horses and other races as well as playing cards. Now he is a respectable Knight of Equestria and one of the highest ranking military offices with a large family. It's official the universe has seance of hummer.

After he gets home makes his mares there food. He sits down to go through the mail out load. "Bill, bill, bill, Equestria clearing house? Ceracel Butice Spring catalog.... It's been a year all ready? Wow. Oh Guard monthly. And look who made the cover this month."

The Church of Stars priestess Samantha "Priest" Colt. The Amrored assault hero of the human world Zeon war for independence. Formally inducted to the church of the the living deities as new Priestess. She is also being officially anointed as the knight Chaplain the first in 290 years.

"Wow some one is making news." Said Pierre out load.

"Oh who?" Asked Lovestruck.

"Priest is been inducted to church of the living Deities and is the now officially a Chaplin now." Said Pierre.

"Wow that is big deal. That is one of the major religions in Equestria. The others being the order of chaos, church of Celestia, and servants of the true Queen. There are others like the temple of the Night Eternal, Luna is not fan of them. But Church of the Living Dieties is one of the oldest from before the Nightmare Moon incident, it saw a major resurgence after Luna's return." Explained Roseluck.

"So I guess discord is not liked by them?"Asked Pierre.

"No they see the Alicorns and Discord as living gods. They view there actions as lessons and event all can learn from. Stating that even Imortal Deities make mistakes but they can learn from them just as we have to from ours. My mother was devout even before Luna's returned." Said Roseluck.

"I see so her star church must have a lot of similarity, for her to join. Maybe star reading will be added to it." Said Pierre.

The girls nodded "Luna's stars reflect the writing of the Fate Writer so those who can see there reflection can tell what's to come. At lest that's what the fortune tellers say." Said Lovestruck.

"Pierre.... my water broke." Said Cloud Kicker.

"Ok..... wait? What?! Fucking Shit!!!" Shouted Pierre. As he started running through the actions he drilled in to him self over the past months.

Pierre was pacing back and forth in the waiting room his other two mares sat watching him. The doctor had kicked him out for being a in the way. He radioed in what was happening so his friends new what was happening, while he was on the way. Now Big Tom, who is off duty, Pinkie, and Applejack all came. Applejack had just been about to set up her stand when she heard the radio call. Pinkie keeps her portable on her for some reason along with her cell phone. So they came right over. AJ texted Twilight who is sending Sunset as soon as she can find her.

Sunset comes running in with a camera. "Sorry I'm late every pony I was in a simulation. I came as fast as I could. Twilight insisted I bring my camera as well. The first pony human hybrids in history. She wants pictures. She'd want the doctors to also to do a full blood panel as well, she wants to make sure the foals are healthy." Said Sunset.

A nurse nearby nodded her head and went in to the delivery room to inform the doctor.

"Oh Pierre, here, I remember reading that human tradition was to pass out cigars to celebrate a birth. In Equestria smoking was never vary big, but these candy cigars, where on the rage before I went through the mirror. The place that sold them said that there the best from prance." Said Sunset as she handed him the box.

"Mercy, Sunset. I appreciate the sentiment. I'm still nervous. Wish I still had wisky in my flask. But I swore of liquor so I could be a good father. Mine disappeared, and my step father crawled in to a bottle and never came out. It's why I was sacred of having a family. Afraid I'd be like ether of them. I guess I was, but well a new world a new life. I'm a knight, married and about to be a father. It's time I man up and be a proper officer." Said Pierre.

The doctor walks out. "Mr. Lafayette?"

"Yes." Said Pierre as he turned to the doctor holding two foals.

"Congratulations twins. Colt and Filly. The mother is resting, she said you can pic their names." He held out the two sleeping foals both had there fathers skin tone as their fur color, the girl was blond with dark purple stripe. The boy had lavender mane and tail with a white and pink streaks. Both there eye's where closed.

"The girl will be Vent Chanson Lafayette. Vent Chanson means Wind Song. The boy will be Tempête Étoiles D. Lafayette, his name means Star Storm." Said Pierre as he held the two. Boy kicked a little and yawned show his teeth, most noticeable was the set of canines like humans have smaller but they stood out in a ponies mouth. Sunset took a picture of him and his foals. That is when the two opened there eyes both had gold eyes bright and shining.

"Oh buck! Doctor my water just broke!" Called Lovestruck.

Pierre looked at her then fainted Sunset catching the foals in her magic. Both giggling and spraeding their wings witch matched there fur.

Big Tom shook his head. "Looks like you need more of those candy cigars, Sunset." He said.

"More like smelling salts." Said Sunset as she handed the foals to a nurse.

Meanwhile Canterlot base meeting room.

"Knight Captain why have you called us here?" Asked Luna as she Celestia, and Twilight sat in the desk chairs that filled the room.

"Fritz finally finished going over all the mobile suit data the unit had. He requested this meeting to address tactical issues he thinks he found answers to." Said Jay leaning in a corner.

"Ok then let's hear what you came up with Fritz?" Said Twilight.

Fritz cleared his throat. "Well we have two major problems first is far fewer qualified pilots then we had hoped. But given the technological jump that is being made it should not be a surprise. The second is wile suits are the most advanced weapons around, we have no long range support or true siege weapons. Heavy bazookas and missiles can do the job same with the Zaku cannon but not efficiently. And given most nations use some form of castle or fortress as primary defensive hard points at key locations. The Zaku cannon is a mid-rang support and anti-air weapons platform. Both its cannon and the missiles as well as all heavy bazookas lack the range and fire power needed for siege and artillery rolls. This, if a war does brake out, would slow any progress in counter attacks. Also it hurts defensive capability. The second problem is easy to solve as we have three options in our records. Data provided by the Captain's connections in the special forces gave us the data on the Ground Assault Guntank of the federation the plans we have thanks to a defector. While it is of federation designed suit. It is one of the best variation of there heavy long range artillery suits, something that they actually did good at. The other options are the mobile tank prototype YMT-05 Hildolfr the only proto type was deployed for ground combat and destroyed in battle but took out nine stolen Zaku's by its self. After that it's data was used to build YMS-16M Xamel artillery suits they saw limited production but had a Dom's mobility and could detach its cannon pod to be used as a fixed gun position for temporary fire bases." He brought up the technical data and diagrams on the monitor behind him.

"680MM cannons? That would tair the thickest castle walls to shreds with each shot!" Said Luna clearly imaging the suit in action.

"Yes and it would provide a grand detriment to attacker with them set up in defensive station." Said Celestia.

"Only problem is they lack mobility in rugged and forested terrain. They are ether fancy fixed guns or open land over sized tanks." Said Jay speaking his peace. "Now don't get me wrong they are usefull. My first time in a suit was when I stole a guntank prototype. Before that my gorilla force used stolen type 61 tanks witch while good are nothing compared to mobile suits. It was stealing that guntank and liberating five stolen zakus that earned us Garma Zobies attention. So I know how effective the suit type is but I also have blown up a lot of guntanks and while they have stupidly high armor they are useless in the wrong terrain." He continued pointing out the problems and highlighting weaknesses on screen.

"Yes I see if only we could increase the mobility some how?" Asked Twilight.

"Well if that's the issue I'd like to set up a team to work on that problem."said Fritz

"Ok and what about the lack of pilots? How do you propose to solve that?"Asked Celestia

"The answer to that is easy. I was going over the data Pierre gave me when I saw a off looking Zaku so I went digging. During operation British the second earth descent operation do to lack of pilots Zeon forces Deployed the zombie Zakus." Said Fritz.

Everyone was quite. But it was Luna who broke it. "Tho suggest we raise the dead to fill our ranks?!"

Fritz shook his head and laughed "No the Zombie Zaku are remote controlled Zaku autonomous combat units. One person sits in a command vehicle and controls 5 to 7 of them at a time."

"Why not use that instead of piloted suits?" Asked Celestia.

"Cause there is no honor in fighting like that!" Shouted Luna.

"Also they have 30% decrease in combat effectiveness compared to piloted units. I read the report on them when Fritz suggested it to me. They are basically expensive cannon fodder." Said Jay

Fritz's eye twitched at that remark.

"They are not disposable troops Captian. They are force multiplayers. One pilot becomes 7 letting them handle multiple threats at once." Said Fritz.

"It's interesting idea. But sounds more complex then regular suit operation. I'll ask Sunset for her opinion on the matter. For now hold of on their construction." Said Twilight.

Fritz shifted nervously. "Well I wanted to make sure they where ready assuming you all would have approved so I had one group built with a command suit...." all gleared at him. "They use the same bodies as standard Zakus. So I just converted five in to Zombie Zakus and one control suit."

"Petty officer Hammond! Of all the short sighted, stupid, irreplaceable, idiotic....." Jay then slapped Fritz across his face making the princess gasp and knocking him to floor. "Are there any other suits you pushed though with out clearance?" Asked Jay

"One sir. The Acg tunnelling unit. Drilling load out only. I had three built to assist in the base construction in ponyville... And the tunnel line. They are working with the digging team." Exsplaned Fritz.

"Who is piloting them?" Asked Celestia.

"I tricked Blueblood and some other nobles it was faster way to lean basic controls. As well as maybe move up on the priority list for the suit production." Said Fritz.

"You got Blueblood to volenentier? For a job digging?" Asked Luna threatening to bust out laughing.

"Well I had to build a test bed for beam weapons and it uses laser to cut rocks. So it seemed like a good idea." Said Fritz.

"Fritz first you will build Blueblood and his friends in the tunnels suits as thanks for their work, second for the next month your joining the bolts on the P.T. in the morning. Am I clear?" Said Jay

"Sir. Yes sir. Sir." Said Fritz with a sigh.

"Ok so unless there is anything else?" Asked Twilight.

"There is Flash, crashed a another Zaku in the training course. I see why his simulator scores are so low. He uses the Zaku like it's indestructible, so I took a closer look at his current scores. He is the lowest scoring pilot that qualifies, but it's cause his suit takes so much damage compared to the other. His kill count is on par with May and Pierre. He just can't seem to dodge or go around building or other obstacles. In short he's wrecking ball and suits can't handle his stile. If this was earth I give him a mobile armor and let him loose like wild war beast. I am going to work with him. But just in case we need a new heavy duty Zaku in case other pilots are this way." Said Jay

"Ok I approve the research team idea. The main goal is to make variation of the next lines of suits and the Zaku issue. Also to research New suits to fill the artillery roll based on the data we have. I will discuss what to do with the.... Zombie Zakus... with Sunset." Said Twilight

"One more thing I just remembered." Said Jay snapping his fingers "The scores of the navy volunteers are in. I was impressed they out preformed most of the guards that qualified for the short list. They are also better trained. It seems hunting pirates has let them keep their edge. So for the top forty eight be issued amfibbuse war fare suits. As the aquatic navy is only one whit ships that can carry them and the sea pirates are bigger threat do to the low numbers of the ship in the water. So the Zaku Marine should be good as a fast boost to navy strength." Said Jay.

Week later finale review for Zaku Zombie proposal.

"Well the idea has merit for filling out numbers. But when I was in the human world I saw the results and this kind of tactics in movies and comics. With out risk of life war becomes a game and political negotiations all but stop as the nation's can just send waves drone troops to settle the problem. The worst case scenario is that the machines become sentient and over throw their masters.

That said I think it be a wast to dispose of them out right. Perhaps it be worth studying them as well as using them to stress test weapons and parts before they go on piloted suits. You make sure to know the limits and find hazards before we risk live pilots. How much we can use them for testing remains to be seen. So we have to have a pilot test how much control the command suit has over the drones. But as spread thin as we are I'll go to canterlot to do the test my self." Said Sunset.

"Ok and we all know you just want to play with the new technology." Said Twilight.

"Trixie agrees, you just want to play boss with Zaku puppets." Added Trixie who was chained and upside down hanging over them practicing a new trick.

"Ok maybe a little. But you forgot something Trix." Said Sunset shooting twilight a smile.

"Oh and what's that?" Asked Trixie.

"Your helpless against a mare you just teased." Said Sunset before she and Twilight drag Trixie off to the bed room.

Two weeks later Pierre's house.

Pierre was now the proud father four. One set of twins (boy and girl) and two other daughters. His third born was name Chanson D'Amour (Love Song) Lafayette, and the last born three days latter named Bluerose Lafayette. His mares had been unsure about the family name thing but they accepted it as something like the Apple faimly. Who your related to matters to humans so they accepted it.

Pierre was surprised to know his daughters and son got his teeth while Bluerose looked just like her mother Roseluck only with Blue mane and eyes, and her coat was a shade darker. Chanson D'Amour was a unicorn, had his eyes and a green mane and her mother's coat.

The four where already a hand full dispute her name Chanson D'Amour was a little devil, she would have magic flair ups like all unicorn foals but they would be in the form of spell bolts. Needless to say by the end of the third day she was home every thing that could brake was broken or had been spell protected from breaking. But the biggest headache was the twins. Second week they proved that flight skill is connected to piloting skill, at lest that Cloudkickers theory, as it took her a few years before she started flying, but the twins would make her look a foal twice a day. Doctors say it's just their inner magic surgering but she calls horse apples on that reason.

Regardless of why or how Pierre was busy as he ever was. Changing diapers and actually lassoing foals out of the air. It took a few lessons from Applejack to help in that area. But as he and his herd finally got the foals to bed each nap time he could not help but feel, joy? Pride? And exhaustion. He was a father with a four kid/foal, and three wives and was a Knight. "I really survived that hell and found heaven...Priest was right miracles do happen. I think I'll look in to one of the local religions." He whispers to him self. Before going to his paint room to work in the quite. But no more then two steps away his son Tempête Étoiles D. Lafayette started crying. "I thought the girls where the ones that where spouses to cry all the time." He chuckled as he turned back to his foal.

"Twilight is a EVIL twisted mare to do this to her BBBFF and her sister in law!" Cried Shining as he and his guards ran laps along with the Princess.

Ahead of them ran a earth pony in the Harmony guard uniform. "I heard that Shining Amor if you have anuff strength to complain then you can give me another lap around the Empire!" Shouted Diamond Terira.

The Empire's Guard was spit in to three groups each rotating in there training. Diamond was in charge of PT. Silver was handling weapons, and Babs handled Mobile suit simulation training and hand to hand as the strongest of the three.

For her part Cadance was holding up well, she had been worried she was putting on weight but she had burned that off and then some with her new training. She had the option of only doing the mobile suit training but she chose to do full thing along side her husband and her guards to show her support for the troops and she was willing to stand with them. The wake up call took her by surprises and she was sure she was getting up before Aunt Celestia every morning now. She also loved what the training as done for both her and her husband's bodies. Plus the looks on the faces of the nobles when she comes right from suit training to court in a flight suit.

Silver was proud at first, but when she had them hit moving targets they failed badly. To ad incentive sent added a feature that triggered if the target got to a set point before being hit. This triggered sling shots with pellets that would zap them when it hit them. This made things clear that they needed to act faster and with precision and she also added a obstical course with a similar set up.

Jay had copied that in canterlot as it showed that the guards panic under pressure.

Now she used a new trick she would walk down the line fireing blanks behind their heads as they practice randomly. This had the result of making the first guards piss or shit them selves.

Babs was having the most fun with both sim and hand to hand training, she used sparing and she enjoyed wiping the floor with the guards one by one as they rotated sparing partners every match. In simulators she set them up in teams and had them fight for different objectives. Sometimes event giving each team a separate objective and not telling the other team what the others goal was.

May Tachibana's MS school day after final exams three weeks from the one year anversy of the human arrival.

"Ok Class. Here are your finale scores..........................." May smiled as she made them sweat waiting for her to pass judgement. "Congradutions! You all passed even you Big Mac. With the lowest score but still passed, you will improve with practice. You are all dismissed see you at Pinkie's graduation party." She said cheering for them.

The class hooted and cheered at her announcement. Big Mac sighing in relief. "Ok, officer Right Of Way, I'll see you in three months to help you set up for teaching the next group. Miss Pie can you wait a moment I'd like to speak with you. The rest of you don't have to go home but you cant stay here!" Said May.

"Oooh! Teachers pet is called after for some special lessons~" teased Vynal earning her a neutral looking but still unnerving stair from Maud.

"I'm out." Said Vynal before she vanished.

May walked over and closed the door. "I'm glad we are no longer teacher and student Maud casue now I can say this." She took a deep breath "Would you like to go out to dinner with me?"

Maud actually went slack jawed. After a few moments she regains her composer and with what Pinkie would say is her happy face said. "Yes I would like that."

Sugar cube coroner was the scene of a massive party. Out front new civilian suits stood in a row with their new owners getting pictures taken.

Every one was most interested in the new Agg suit being revealed. It had a been a surprise and many in the excavation, mining and construction fields wanted them for their company's. Maud waved at the cameras snapping pictures. Of all the ponies and Griffin there it could be said that Big Mac and Maud Pie where the most stoic as they stood by their suits. Pinkie who was hugging her sister was out shined by Vinyl who had brought spray paint and her wub cart to celebration she first sprayed neon stripes in random places on her new suit. She then started to play music. Her roommate Octavia joining in to celebrate.

Mood was joyful, cakes where half price and the music was load. Applejack patted her brother on the back. "You did it Big Mac. Now we can do the work faster and finish reorganizing the orchards faster. You might even have time to start dating." She teased.

"Nope." Was all he said to her but gave her a soft nudge.

The ponies cheered as the new minted Civilian pilots mounted up to take their suits home. Most them any way. And thus a new age began. Mobile suits took the first steps to becoming integrated in to Equestria every day life.

Maud had snuck out the back in a tight little black dress she had got not two hours ago from Rarity. It was simple but sexy Maud had never wore anything like this before but Rarity promised her secret date would love it. She only told Rarity that it was a date with another mare and she wanted to keep her younger sister out of it.

May pulled up in another magic drive cart (MDC). It was another recent invention by the Flim Flam Brothers. Based on how there failed cider machine traveled. It was massive hit in Canterlot and other high income cities. The mobile forces pilots have a large paycheck and knight's have a bigger still. So some pilots have have splurged to buy them. They had come out just before the the human arrival and now where over shadowed but still selling, tho only as a status symbol to the wealthy. There is a steam powered competitor from a buffalo Tribes but the magic is seen as easier to use.

May was in a fancy summer kimono, also made by Rarity, and sat in the driver seat of a two seater touring model MDC. Witch is smaller body made to be lighter and use less energy from the magic battery, that any unicorn can recharge.

May smiled and spoke. "Need a lift sexy." making Maud blush.

She nodded and climbed in to seat next to her. Then they sped off in to the night. Neither seeing Pinkie hanging upside down by a rope in and spy suit and a big smile on her face.
