Twilight Sparkle, unable to harness the magic of friendship in time to purge Nightmare Moon, forces Princess Celestia's hoof to take a more dire and permanent solution to the menace that seeks to bring night eternal to all of Equestria.

With the blood of her sister on her hooves, will Celestia reach out to those closest to her in time before her own nightmare begins? Or will the unfortunate events that will unfold force Celestia and the one she loves down a much darker path than her sister ever took?
