Chapter 1

Unaware of Time

Chrysalis wakes up in the middle of The Dark Mountains, home to her hidden Hive.

"Looks like I won't need to move much." said Chrysalis to herself with a laugh.

Lightning was striking as if it was rain, scary sounds of screeching and screaming were heard. Only the changelings knew about the creatures who inhabited this place. It's actually easy to understand why only changelings know about them. First, they need to feed on love, and even dark creatures have it. Second, they LOVED to use them to attack settlements around.

"Finally here. Time to bring order back to this Hive." said Chrysalis while pushing a log. "There, the Hive is open. Now, it's time to move."

Chrysalis stepped down into the underground Hive. It was large; no, it was HUGE. Hard working changelings collected millions of hatchlings and sent them to the Mutation Level so they will be ready for work immediately.

"What?!" Chrysalis didn't believe her eyes. "Hives can't run without a queen... that only means one thing..." Chrysalis was shocked much more. "There is already a queen..."

Chrysalis started running down through the Hive Levels. The Trap Level somehow attracted her, and she entered it. She saw Twilight Sparkle hanging from the ceiling, connected to it using some kind of goo. But she wasn't dead... Chrysalis looked around, and noticed the other 5 ponies.

"W-what are you doing here?" asked Chrysalis.

"Chrysalis? We thought you were dead..." said Twilight.

"As you can see, I am not. But you didn't answer my question." said Chrysalis.

"We were captured by YOUR changelings." answered Twilight.

"I can see that the Hive is under control by someone else... changelings are not capable of doing this themselves..." explained Chrysalis.

"I think I get it..." said Twilight.

"Explain, Twilight!" declared Chrysalis.

"It was 2 years since you were repelled from Canterlot." explained Twilight. "While you were in a coma, we tried to attack the Hive, but somehow it was already rebuilt and we were caught."

"Look, I can release you. But you must help me regain the Hive! I will promise not to attack Equestria anymore!" said Chrysalis, sounding very honest.

"Alright, but if you try to attack Equestria, we will send all our forces to destroy your Hive." said Twilight.

"I understand." answered Chrysalis.

Chrysalis removed Twilight Sparkle's goo from her hooves, and she fell down onto the ground.

"Thank you." said Twilight Sparkle. "Please, save my friends too!"

"I'm on it." said Chrysalis, quickly removing goo from the other ponies before anyone notices. "Done! If we want them to help us, we better wake them up."

"Smart idea, Chrysalis." answered Twilight.

**What? Am I changing? I shouldn't change! I must stay myself... but that's not what a changeling does... I am confused. Is it good that I'm changing into something good because I'm a changeling, or is it bad because I am actually becoming good?** thought Chrysalis.

Chrysalis screams.

"Are you okay?" asked Twilight.

"YES! I AM COMPLETELY NORMAL!" yelled out Chrysalis while breathing heavily.

**Why yell? Why can't you just say "Yes, I am completely normal."? I guess I will never understand changelings...** thought Twilight Sparkle.

"One of your friends is waking up!" yelled Chrysalis with obviously faked joy.

"You really need to learn how to fake emotions. But that doesn't matter." said Twilight while running up to Rainbow Dash who just woke up. "Rainbow Dash! You're alright?"

"Yes, I am..." said Rainbow Dash. "And what are YOU doing here, Chrysalis? Gonna steal our love, huh?"

"No, you catastrophic rainbow nugget, I am trying to save you all. But with one condition." said Chrysalis.

"And what is that condition, your nuggetness?" asked Rainbow Dash in a whiny tone.

"You help me take control of the Hive, and there's a reward: I never attack Equestria again." explained Chrysalis.

"Well, if you will truly never attack Equestria again, then that's a deal!" said Rainbow Dash.

"Everypony is waking up! We must explain Chrysalis's presence and then escape so we can request more help!" said Twilight Sparkle.

After some minutes of explaining, the crew is ready for the escape.

"I've got a plan ready." said Chrysalis. "Every hour all changelings have a 2 minute sleep period. If we are fast enough, we can escape during this period without being noticed. According to the information from the Hive Mind, the next sleep period happens in 3 minutes."

"Well, we should hurrey up, then!" said Applejack.

"True." said Chrysalis.

...2 minutes 57 seconds later...

"Three... two... one... GO!" said Chrysalis quickly, but with precision.

The crew began running up to the Incubator Level. Once they reached it, it was empty, and no one was there.

"All clear, move up!" whispered Chrysalis.

"Hahahaha, young Chrysalis thinks that I don't know about her tricks. But she will pay for that." said a silent voice, that was not heard by the ponies and Chrysalis.

Chrysalis used her dark magic to open the exit and allow the ponies to go into The Dark Mountains. After all was done, she closed the exit.

"It's dark in here... and chilly..." lightly said Fluttershy.

"Yes, it is indeed chilly. Look at that goo all over the place! I'd hate to step on one of those!" answered Rarity.

"It doesn't matter, we should set course to Equestria." said Chrysalis.

"You won't believe how much." said Twilight Sparkle.

And so the group began moving to Equestria. On their way, they found many strange creatures that they haven't seen before. But as they reached The Everfree Forest, they stopped appearing. Not even manticores, or cockatrices. It was pure silence. Even Pinkie Pie stopped singing songs. And you've got to try and try hard if you want Pinkie Pie to stop singing songs. It was outright strange.

**I don't feel very good... even though I'm used to dark environments, this is too much.** thought Chrysalis.

"Why that frown, Chrysalis?" asked Pinkie Pie.

"It's nothing... I'm just remembering how good was that feel when you control everything." sadly said Chrysalis.

"Yeah. I'm feeling kinda bad too. But I can sing a song! You want me to sing a song? I want to sing a song." said Pinkie Pie and started singing a very happy song.

Everything began to gain colors for everyone. Pinkie Pie's amount of songs seemed endless, they were playing up to the point when they reached Equestria. By then, even Chrysalis was shocked. Ponyville seemed so empty. No one was at the apple farm. Each house had no lights, it felt like all the life was sucked out of it. The group traveled to Canterlot, using the train rails as the direction. Luckily, no trains were running. But when they reach Canterlot, something strange happens...
