Dreams Don't Come True - Part 1
Previous ChapterNext ChapterTwilight was walking in around the map, sweat falling down her forehead. The doors to the room opened, revealing Spike. She turned her attention towards him and rushed over.
"Is Gumdramon back?" She asked, a smile starting to form on her face.
"Sorry Twi, but I still haven't seen him." Spike replied, causing Twilight's smile to disappear. "Are you okay?"
"I'm just worried about him Spike. After what happened earlier today, I just want to know that he's okay."
"Yeah, what exactly happened?"
"I don't really know. I thought that once he was back to normal everything would be fine, but whatever happened to him was a lot worse than I thought. He didn't tell us what happened to him, he just said he needed to be alone."
Spike wrapped his arms around Twilight, leaning his head on her shoulder. "I think everyone needs some time to themselves. I'm sure he'll be better once he comes back."
Twilight sniffled and wiped one of eyes. "Your right, he's probably fine. Gumdramon has a strong heart, nothing can keep him down."
"You know, maybe we can make him something special to eat for when he comes back." Spike added, letting go of Twilight.
"That's a great idea Spike!" She said, picking Spike up with her magic and placing him on her back. "I have a few cook books in the library I never really used, maybe there's something in one of those." Twilight added, walking through the doors and into the hallway.
Gumdramon was sitting on a log near a pond in the Everfree Forest. His head was down, staring at the floor. He slowly lifted his head up, looking at his reflection in the pond.
"What did you do?" He asked his reflection. Suddenly, a red light started to emit under his shirt, causing him to wince in pain and grab his side. "That's it!" Gumdramon shouted before closing his eyes. After a few seconds of silence, his body fell backwards and onto the grass.
Gumdramon opened his eyes, reveling that he was on a rock that was floating in space. The only other thing on the rock was a pitch black door standing right in front of him. He walked up to the door, breathing heavily. Grasping the knob, he slowly turned it and opened the door. Inside was a pitch black void with nothing inside except for an all too familiar silhouette, sitting in the center of the room with chains around his arms.
"Welcome back Gumdramon." The black version of Gumdramon said, maliciously smiling at him. "I knew you'd show up. So, what brings you here?"
"I want answers."
Princess Luna was walking through her hall of mirrors, looking at each one.
"There must be a way for us to get into his dreams. This would be a lot easier if we had a mirror for him." She said, continuing to walk through the hall. She suddenly stopped, gasping. "That's it!" She shouted.
She started running down the hall, a look of determination on her face. She stopped at the end of the hall, breathing heavily. In front of her was a blue mirror that had her cutie mark on it. She looked at for a bit and started walking into it. Once she was through, she was in space with stars making a road. Luna looked down one side of the road and saw nothing, but looking down the other side revealed a single door in the distance. Smirking, she ran towards the door, stopping directly in front of it. The door was purple with a yellow X on it, but the wood had chips and cracks in it.
"This must be his door, it just has to be." She said, turning the knob with her magic. Once the door opened, Luna was shocked to see a void with several rocks and objects floating inside. "Wha-What happened here?" She asked herself, walking through the door.
She started floating once she entered, unable to control where she went. She created a field of magic around her, allowing her to properly flew through the void. As she flew through the void, she noticed that some of the rocks had door on them, while other doors were just floating by themselves. A lot of the doors were rotten and old, but some looked brand new. Luna stopped, noticing a door made entirely out of metal. She flew towards it, landing on the rock. Her magical field disappeared, but she didn't float away like before.
The door didn't have a knob, but when she used her magic on it, it suddenly opened. She looked inside and saw nothing more than a black void. At the very bottom of the door was a floating cloud of smoke leaving the room. It wrapped itself around Luna's tail, but she didn't notice.
(A FEW MINUTES EARLIER)
"So, you're my darkest memories and secrets that I kept in the back of my mind and that's why you weren't destroyed my other ones?" Gumdramon asked, trying to wrap his head around this.
"That's right, and all you have to do is just let in out and you'll remember more about who you are."
"Was..."
"Excuse me?" The black Gumdramon asked, raising his head to look at him.
"I would remember who I was, because I'm me now."
"So what? I want is to get out of here and you want to get your memories back, so just let me out!" He yelled, getting up and trying to run towards Gumdramon. However, the chains kept him a few feet away from him.
Before Gumdramon could say another word, his eyes suddenly widened. "Someone's here!" He yelled, slamming the door and flying towards the location of the intruder.
"He can't keep me in here forever. Just like everyone, he'll get curious." The black Gumdramon said, chuckling afterwards.
(BACK TO THE PRESENT)
Luna suddenly flinched, sensing a strong presence. "He's here too!? I thought he would be dreaming! We must leave... now!" She said to herself, quickly surrounding herself in her magic aura and flying away from the door. She took a quick took behind her and saw Grumdramon stopping at the door, not noticing where she was. She saw the door out of his mind, went through it and quickly slammed it shut. She leaned against the door, breathing heavily.
"Perhaps we were wrong about him. He may have secrets, but everypony has secrets... even us." Luna said to herself, exiting her mirror as she did. Her horn started to glow and teleported away.
The smog-like creature slowly exited Luna's mirror, moving around the room before entering a random mirror.
Inside a local arcade place, hundreds of ponies were lining up to see Button Mash play a video game.
"He's so cool!" A filly in the crowd said.
"I've never seen such a gamer in my entire life!" Another pony said.
"I'd never be able to get that big of a high score!" A stallion said, fainting.
"Button Mash, Button Mush, GO GO GO!" Several mares and fillies cheered, wearing cheerleaders outfits.
"Congratulations, you're the new champion!" The arcade game said, causing the crowd of ponies to cheer Button's name.
"Thank you, Thank you!" Button Mash said into a microphone. "I couldn't have done this without all of you. You're all the real champions!" He said, throwing the mic, everyone cheering even louder than before. The smog-like creature dived into the ground, disappearing. As Button started blowing kisses, the cheers completely disappeared in a quiet echo.
"Huh? What?" Button said, looking around to see he was in a old, dark park. The only thing beside himself were broken-down playground rides. The single chained swing slowly swung in the wind, one of the seesaws repeatedly hitting the ground, and the roundabout slowly turning with no one on it.
"M-Mom? Hello? Is any... pony... there...?" He said, turning around to see a large figure behind him.
