A Date With Rainbow - Part 1

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Rainbow Dash was flying around Ponyville, pushing clouds back and forth. After a few clouds, she wipes the sweat off of her forehead. Her ears perk up and she turned around, noticing a cloud floating away.

"I don't think so!" She shouted, dashing towards the cloud. She flew in front of it, placing both of her hooves on the cloud. She quickly push the cloud back to it's original position. "Ha, thought you could get away from me, huh?" She asked the cloud, smirking at it.

"So, you're talking to clouds now, huh?" A feminine voice laughed at the rainbow maned pony.

"Who said th-" Rainbow stopped after turning around and seeing the pony in question. She was an pegasus with a light gray coat, a yellow mane and tail. Her mane was in a ponytail and both her ponytail and tail were in the shape of a lighting bolt. Rainbow's jaw dropped, but she quickly regained her cool with an angrier expression. "Hello... Thunderbolt." Rainbow greeted through her teeth.

"Why Rainbow, you always give such a... nice greeting to your wonderful cousin." Thunderbolt said, waving a hoof at Rainbow.

"Sooo... what brings you to Ponyville?" Rainbow asked, still visibly angry.

"Well you see, I actually came here with my new boyfriend. He's Hot Streak, perhaps you know him?"

"Whoa, you mean the Hot Streak? As in the fifth fastest earth pony in Equestria?!" Rainbow asked, shocked by what she had just heard.

"Oh, so you do know him." Thunderbolt laughed, walking closer to Rainbow. "Yeah, we've been seeing each other for a few months now. I told him that you were my cousin and that I beat you in a race." She continued, looking at her hoof.

"It was on the ground and I had a broken back hoof!" Rainbow yelled.

"I still beat you, didn't I?" She asked with a smirk.

Rainbow folded her forelegs together, pouting. "Not fairly." She mumbled to herself.

"So I thought that he and I would meet you. Perhaps we could go on a double date?"

"A double-what?" Rainbow asked, confused by Thunderbolts question.

"Oh no, you mean all these years and you still couldn't get a single stallion to fancy you?" She starting laughing, causing Rainbow's cheeks to puff up and blush.

"I-I do have a coltfriend!" Rainbow yelled.

Thunderbolt turned her attention back to Rainbow. "Really?" She asked, just as shocked as Rainbow was earlier.

"Y-Yeah! And he's so much cooler than Fire Streak! In fact, he's the coolest dude you'll ever meet in your entire life!" Rainbow yelled, now with more confidence.

"Really?!" She asked as if she was offended. "Who is he?"

There was a loud knock on the door to Twilight's castle. Gumdramon popped his head out of the kitchen. He move his head around, looking to see if anyone was up yet.

"Welp, looks like I'll answer the door this time." Gumdramon said, walking out of the kitchen. He was wearing a white bath towel and holding a coffee mug. As he got closer to the door, the banging grew more and more intense. He opened the door, revealing that the knocker was actually Rainbow Dash.

"I need you to be my coltfriend!" She shouted in a pleading manner.

Gumdramon, with tired eyes, took a sip of his drink. He then walked back into the kitchen and above the sink. He immediately performed a spit tick, aiming all of the liquid into the sink.

"WHAT?!" Gumdramon yelled, turning his head back at Rainbow. She gave him a confused expression. "What? Did you think I was gonna spit tick in your face? That would be very rude."

"Okay, now I see what's going on." Gumdramon said, leaning back on a couch.

"So, will you pretend to be my coltfriend, just for tonight?" Rainbow pleaded, placing her hooves together.

Gumdramon scratched the top of his head. "Sure, anything for a friend." He said, sitting back upright on the couch.

Rainbow flew at Gumdramon, giving him a tight hug. "Thanks a billion for this!" She said, hugging Gumdramon tighter.

"I can see that light." Gumdramon said, his face turning blue.

"Oops, sorry about that. I don't really give a lot of hugs." She said, releasing her grip on Gumdramon.

"I can see why." He said, taking several deep breaths. "So, where are we going tonight anyway?" He asked.

"Some place called 'Cho Cho's' or something like that." Rainbow answered, waving a hoof around.

"Oh Jo Jo's, I know that place."

"Wait, really?" Rainbow asked, surprised.

"Yeah, I didn't really eat there, but I did work in the kitchen for a few days."

"What happened?"

"It didn't work with my other jobs."

"Wait, jobs?" Rainbow asked, even more confused.

"Oh yeah, I just work as much as I can when I can around town. Everyone really appreciates it." Gumdramon said, reading a book that was on the coffee table.

Rainbow stood there in shock, but snapped herself out of it. "Never mind about that now. Do you have anything to wear tonight?"

"You mean, like a tuxedo?" He asked, looking away from the book.

Rainbow smacked her face, sliding her hoof down, comically stretching it. "Yes!"

"Hmm, I think Rarity made me some new clothes a few days a go. Maybe she made me a tux as well."

"Alright, you go to Rarity's and get your tux, while I'll go see what I need to do." Rainbow said as she started flying out the window. "Oh, wait!" Rainbow stopped as she remembered something important. She flew back down to Gumdramon. "Here, I made this list of what you'll need tonight." Rainbow said, handing Gumdramon a small piece of paper. "Alright, see you tonight." She said, finally exiting through a window.

Gumdramon looked down at the paper in his hand, noticing that there was not much written of it.
