A Date With Rainbow - Part 2

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Gumdramon stood outside of the Carousel Boutique, holding the list in his hand. "Alright, here goes nothing." He said, walking into the boutique. When the door opened it made a small dinging noise.

"I'll right with you, darling!" Rarity's voice yelled from upstairs.

"Uh, Rarity? It's me!" Gumdramon shouted back at her. All of a sudden, several hooves could be heard running down the stairs.

"Gumdramon!" Three little fillies yelled as they tackled him to the ground.

"Whoa! Well it's nice to see you girls too." He said, lying on the floor.

"Now girls, there's no need to be so ruff with him." Rarity said, using her magic to lift the three fillies off of him. "Now, what do you say?"

"Ugh, sorry Gumdramon." The three fillies said in annoyance.

"We were just wanted to say thanks for trying to save us from that skull dude." Scootaloo said.

"You shouldn't be thanking me, it was pretty much all Luna." He replied, rubbing the back of his head.

"But ya did try and that's better than doin nothin." Applebloom said, giving him a warm smile.

"Speaking of which, I was kinda wondering something." Sweetie Belle said, rubbing her chin. "How did Spike do that flaming punch thing?" She asked, tilting her head.

"So, he's already starting to develop." Grumdramon said under his breath.

"What?" Sweetie asked.

"Uh, it's nothing. I'll tell you later. Anyways, I'm actually here to talk to Rarity." He said, getting back on his feet.

"Really? What did you come to see me for?" Rarity asked, placing a hoof on her chest.

"Well, I was wondering if you... made me a tuxedo?" He asked, sweating from embarrassment.

"*GASP* I knew this day would come!" Rarity yelled, using her magic to pull Gumdramon and several pieces of fabric. She placed Gumdramon on the modeling stand, wrapping several measuring tapes around him. "I didn't know it would happen so early, but I knew that you'd find soempony!" She said, giggling to herself. "So, who's the lucky mare?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Uh, Rainbow Dash." He said, blushing and giving her a nervous smile.

Rarity dropped everything, staring at him in shock. "Rainbow?!" She shouted in shock.

"Well, let me explain." Gumdramon said, laughing to himself.

"So, this is for just some dumb lie?" Rarity asked, using her sewing machine.

"Yeah, pretty much." Gumdramon said, shrugging.

"Ugh, and here I thought this would've been used for something special." Rarity said, crying a little.

"It still can, just not right now." Gumdramon replied, looking down at the ground.

"I guess you're right." She said, turning the sewing machine off. "here, try these on." She said, handing Gumdramon the clothes she finished making.

"Thanks again, Rarity." He said, giving her a smile before walking into the changing room. He stayed in there for a minutes before finally coming out. "How do I look."

Rarity turned around, seeing Gumdramon wearing a simple, but classic, black and white tuxedo and a goofy top hat. "Hmm, perhaps we should lose the top hat?" She said, using her magic to take the hat off.

Gumdramon waved to Rarity, holding a flat box, as he walked away from the boutique. "Alright, one down, two to go." He said, taking out the piece of paper and slashing off the first thing on the list. "Let's see, now I need some flowers." Gumdramon looked around, seeing Roseluck at a small cart with flowers. "Roseluck!"

Roseluck turned around, seeing Gumdramon running at her. "Oh, good afternoon, Gumdramon! What did you need?" She said with smile.

"Do you still have those rainbow dyed roses?" He asked, catching his breath.

"Actually, I just made another batch. They're right here in the cart. How many did you need?" She asked.

"A bouquet of 20 should be enough." He said, holding his chin.

"Ooo, got a hot date tonight?" She asked, laughing afterwards.

"Uh, kinda?" Gumdramon replied, shrugging with a blush.

"Okay then, that'll be six bits." Roseluck said, holding the bouquet of multicolored roses.

Gumdramon stretched out his arm, causing several pieces of data to appear in his hand. They spun together, creating five bits in the palm of his hands. "Here you go." He said, handing Roseluck the bits and grabbing the roses.

"How do you do that?" She asked.

"Oh, let's just say I've got a special kind of wallet." He answered, starting to walk away. "Thanks for the bouquet!" He shouted, waving his spare hand.

"You're welcome!" She shouted back, returning the wave.

"Alright, now all I need to get is a gift." Gumdramon said, crossing out the second item on the list with his tail. "Huh? What would be a good gift for Rainbow? The better question is what's a good gift to give Rainbow on a date?" He wondered to himself, scratching the back of his head. He snapped his fingers, running towards the shop in mind.

"Seven exactly!" Gumdramon happily said, looking at the distant clock tower. He was wearing the tux from before, holding the bouquet of rainbow roses. He looked back at the floating home made of clouds. He looked back down to see a trail of smaller clouds. "These are probably stairs for Scootaloo." Gumdramon thought aloud. He looked back up at the house, taking a deep breath. "Here we go."
