A Date With Rainbow - Finale

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Rainbow Dash was flying in circles, wearing her Grand Galloping Gala dress. She turned her gaze towards a clock hanging on the wall. "Okay, he should be here. I better head down there before he tries-" She was interrupted by a knocking on her door. She raised a brow, flying to the door and looking through the peephole. "What the?" She questioned, seeing Gumdramon at her front door. She opened the door, revealing a Gumdramon in a classic black and white tuxedo, holding a bouquet of rainbow roses.

Gumdramon's eyes and mouth widened, staring at Rainbow. He shook his head, snapping himself out of it. "W-Wow, you look... great." He complimented, blushing a little.

"Uh, thanks. How did you get up here?" She asked, dodging his compliment.

"What do you mean?" He asked, raising a brow.

"The clouds! How are you standing on the clouds?" She asked.

"Oh, I just... walked on them." He said, shrugging.

"Ugh, never mind. We've gotta get to Jo Jo's before they do!" She said, grabbing Gumdramon's free hand and pulling him down the stair.

Gumdramon and Rainbow Dash were walking up to Jo Jo's, holding each others' hand/hoof. As they got closer to the restaurant, Rainbow could see Thunderbolt and a stallion, Hot Streak, standing in front of the restaurant. The stallion had a red coat and his mane and tail were orange with yellow highlights. His mane and tail looked like flames. He was a much bigger stallion than others, but not as big as Big Mac.

"Great, they got here before us. Well, it's too late to back out now." Rainbow said as she and Gumdramon walked a little slower as they got closer to the restaurant. Once they were a few feet in front of them, Thunderbolt turned around, finally noticing the two.

"Oh my, so you weren't lying." Thunderbolt said in complete shock.

"Yep! Gumdramon, this is my cousin, Thunderbolt." Rainbow said, gesturing at her with her free hoof.

"It's... uh, nice to meet you." Gumdramon said as a steam of sweat fell down his forehead.

"Huh? And here I thought that this Gumdramon was just a local legend." Hot Streak said, smiling at the two.

"I guess you could say that I'm a living legend?" Gumdramon said, looking around for laughs.

"So..." Rainbow started, ignoring Gumdramon's joke. "Shall we go in?"

"Yeah, I'm starting to get pretty hungry." Hot Streak agreed.

They all nodded in agreement and began to walk into the restaurant. They were immediately lead by one of the staff towards a free, four person table.

Gumdramon quickly grabbed Rainbow's chair, pulling it back.

"Oh, t-thanks." She said, a little surprised by Gumdramon's kindness.

"Welcome! You know I do this because I chair about you." Gumdramon replied with a smirk. Rainbow smacked her forehead with a hoof as Gumdramon pushed her chair in.

"What would you all like to drink?" The mare, unicorn waiter asked once everyone sat down.

"How about some apple cider?" Gumdramon suggested.

"But, that's really expensive." Rainbow whispered to him.

"Don't worry, I'll be paying." He whispered back.

"Apple cider, huh? Never had it. Sure, I like new experiences." Hot Streak said, looking at the menu.

"I think I'll just stick with a water." Thunderbolt said to the waiter.

"Alright, I'll will be back in a moment." She said, walking away from the table.

1 Hour Later

"... and so I tell the guy that the glasses display was right behind him and then he walked right into it!" Gumdramon said, causing everyone at the table to laugh, including a few ponies from other tables.

"Wow, I guess that guy really did need glasses." Rainbow said, whipping a tear from her eye. She continued to eat the other half of her omelette.

Thunderbolt was looking at Rainbow and Gumdramon with skeptical eyes. "I could have sworn that these two were pretending to date, but now I can't even tell." She thought. "If only there was a way to tip the scale?"

"So, I've been wondering something for a bit. What level of dating are you two at?" Hot Streak asked, taking another sip of his apple cider.

Thunderbolt shot her head up, growing a mischievous smirk across her face. "Oh yeah, Rainbow told me earlier today. She and Gumdramon are totally at smooching levels."

Rainbow froze, her cheeks completely engulfed in a red blush. "Oh no, I did said that?! Why did I say that?!" She internally panicked.

"Did she say that?! Why did she say that?!" Gumdramon internally screamed.

"Yeah, I do find it odd how they haven't even kissed once since we've been here? I mean, it almost seems like they're not really dating." Thunderbolt continued, keeping her mischievous smirk.

Rainbow opened her mouth to say something, but couldn't find the worlds. She looked around, noticing a few ponies staring at them. She began thinking about what to do, suddenly coming up with an idea. She took a deep breathe trough her nostrils before grabbing Gumdramon's face, quickly pulling him into an intense kiss. Gumdramon's eyes widened, his face was completely covered in red blush. Everyone watching gasped, especially Thunderbolt. Rainbow slowly removed her lips from Gumdramon's, opening her eyes. She quickly turned away from him and back at Thunderbolt.

"You were saying?" Rainbow asked with a proud smirk, still blushing a bit. Thunderbolt opened her mouth, but quickly closed it. She got of her chair and stormed off towards the bathroom.

"I hate it when she gets like this." Fire Streak said, rubbing the back of his neck. "Uh, sorry about that. She gets pretty skeptical towards other couples."

"That's alright, we don't mind. Right Gumdramon?" Rainbow asked, turning towards the empty seat where Gumdramon was sitting. "Huh? Where'd he go?"

Gumdramon was splashing his face with water from the bathroom sink. After drying his face off, he lifted his head up, staring at his reflection.

"S-She kissed me? I thought this was just a fake date, but I didn't expect anything like that would happen. I just can't believe that Rainbow Dash was my first kiss. Wait, did that actually count? I mean it was against my will. I also got a kiss from Pinkie, but that was kinda the same situation. Huh, what does count as a first kiss?" Gumdramon said to himself, rubbing his chin. He shook his head, snapping out of his haze.

"Wait, what am I thinking? Rainbow just did it so that her cousin wouldn't get suspicious. Even though it was... nice, she doesn't like me that way. Just like... forget it! If she can do something like that for an act and still be cool, so can I!" Gumdramon said, striking a confident pose. He walked out of the bathroom, only to be immediately stopped by Thunderbolt.

"Well hey there Gumdramon." She said, leaning against the wall.

"Oh, hey Thunderbolt. I was just about to head back to the ta-" Gumdramon stopped once he noticed Thunderbolt walking closer to him.

"What's the rush? Why can't we just spend some alone time together?"

"Uh, because our dates our waiting for us at the table." Gumdramon stated, feeling very uncomfortable.

"Well, maybe we can be each other's date."

"Ugh, what's taking them so long?" Rainbow said, getting off her chair and flying towards the bathrooms. She stopped and hid behind the wall after noticing Gumdramon and Thunderbolt.

"Listen, I-I don't think Fire Streak and Rainbow would be happy to know what you're doing." Gumdramon said, pinned the wall.

"Oh come on! Fire Streak is nice and all, but he's not really my type. Besides, who would you rather be with? A pegasus as attractive and successful as me? Or a pegasus as ugly as her that can't even fulfill her stupid dream of becoming a Wonderbolt?"

Rainbow gritted her teeth, getting ready to give Thunderbolt a piece of her mind. She was about to take her first step until...

"You shut your mouth!" Gumdramon yelled.

"Excuse me?!" Thunderbolt asked, shocked by what he just said.

"Do you really think that I would ever be with a heartless creature like you? How pathetic must you be to insult your own family member?" Gumdramon said, a red glow emitted from under his shirt. His eyes also a red tint to them. "You would betray your own boyfriend just to make Rainbow Dash upset? What kind of person does that and is still able to look at themselves in the mirror?" Gumdramon started walking closer to Thunderbolt, causing her to back up.

"I-I... uh..."

"Let me tell you this. Rainbow Dash is better than you in every way, especially in the fact that she works hard everyday to achieve her dream of becoming a Wonderbolt. So, tell me... When are you gonna wake up and start living your own life instead of trying to ruin others?" Gumdramon asked, leaning down to her level.

"I-I... I don't have to take this! Fire Streak, we're leaving!" She yelled, walking by Rainbow without noticing.

The red glow faded away, causing Gumdramon took shake his head, his eyes back to being green. He looked around, before he could continue walking back to the table, Rainbow revealed herself from the corner.

"Oh, hey Rainbow, what's go-" Gumdramon was interrupted by a sudden hug from the cyan mare. "Uh, Rai-"

"Shush, don't ruin to moment." She said, laughing a little.

"I-I'm sorry things didn't work out the way you hoped for Rainbow." Gumdramon said as they walked up to Rainbow's front door.

"It's alright. Besides, what you said back there was... nice." Rainbow said, blushing a bit. "If you tell anypony about tonight, I will strike you with the biggest storm cloud you have ever seen!" She suddenly spurted out, causing Gumdramon to laugh.

"It's a deal, but you owe me big time."

"Anything you want, just name it."

"Hmm, wanna spend the rest of the night watching TV from other universes?"

"It's a deal!" Rainbow said as they ruched into the cloud house.

Spike was tossing and turning in his bed as he occasionally breathed a little bit of fire. Tears began forming in his eyes until he suddenly stopped moving altogether. His eyes shot open, glowing yellow for a split second as me began chuckling with a evil smirk.
