The Chronicles of Sonic Speed
Chapter 2
Previous Chapter"Are ya ready for the first day of school?" My dad said after I got everything that I needed in my saddle bag.
"Yeah!" I said as I zipped up the bag. I hugged my dad and ran out the door, but was stopped when my dad called me. I turned around and saw him holding a brown, paper bag with my name on it.
"You almost forgot your lunch," Dad said. He gave it to me and I thanked him. I ran out the door and went to the bus stop.
I was the first one there. At least five minutes later, a white-colored pony with a red-and-white striped mane and tail walked nervously with his mom towards the corner of the sidewalk.
"Hey look," I heard his mom say. "That pony over there looks your age. You should befriend him."
"But, Mom, I'm nervous," said the peppermint-colored pony.
"Oh, you always say that." The mom rolled her eyes.
"Because I am!"
"Just go talk to him." His mom slightly pushed the pony towards me. He started to walk slowly.
"Uh... Hi...?" the pony said nervously as he stopped walking three hooves away from me.
"Hello," I said politely. "What's your name?"
"I'm Peppermint." The pony's name matched his color.
"I'm Sonic Speed," I said.
"Whoa, so you're like the Pony version of Sonic the Hedgehog?" Peppermint said.
"Many ponies think that, but I'm not."
"I could tell," Peppermint said as he looked down at my stomach. "You seem fat."
"Peppermint!" the mom said
"No, no, it's fine. I am kinda chubby," I said as the bus finally came.
The doors opened and we entered the bus. I just sat in a random seat, and Peppermint sat in the one next to me.
"Wanna be friends?" I asked.
"I'd like that," Peppermint said. I noticed he had no Cutie Mark when he turned to face the front.
"What's with the no Cutie Mark?" I asked.
"Crap, you noticed," Peppermint said, although 'crap' wasn't the word he used.
"Whoa, sorry, man!" I said. "I was just curious. You didn't have to cuss."
"No, it's fine. I get that a lot."
The bus stopped at the third stop when I noticed a cyan-colored pony with a rainbow mane and tail on the sidewalk.
"Dude, hot filly, two o' clock," I said.
"You should go for it!" Peppermint said.
"Nah, man," I said. "It's the first day; I think I should wait." The mare sat in the seat in front of me.
Peppermint mouthed something to me, but I can't read lips. He beckoned me over to his seat so he could tell me what he was trying to say.
"Ask her out, dude!"
"It's the first day!" I repeated.
"Exactly!" Peppermint said. "If you wait, somepony else will ask her before you."
"You're right." I went back to my seat and tapped the mare's head. She looked up at me.
"Oh, hi!" She said.
"Uh..." I said. That was the only thing that came out of my mouth. She was more beautiful up close. Her cute, smiling face was looking right at me. Those magenta eyes... So indescribable. She was so beautiful, I couldn't even breathe. "Uh, sor-ry." I said. My voice even cracked when I tried to talk to her. I sat back down and looked over to Peppermint, who has face-hoofed, and mouthed to him that I couldn't do it; she was too beautiful. It seemed that he could read lips, but not me.
We reached the sixth stop, where the rainbow pony in front of me jumped up in excitement. She called to an yellow-colored pony with a pink mane and tail and the mane was covering about half of her face. She sat excitedly next to the rainbow pony and they started talking. I heard the rainbow one mention what I did, and the other one kinda laughed.
The bus finally reached the school. We got off and entered the front door of the building, where we were told to go to the cafeteria. When we got there, we looked around the place. The cafeteria looked really cool. Cooler than least year. There were posters all over the place, a big stage was still at the side of the room, they built a huge window in the back during the summer to see into the courtyard, which looked really cool too. What I can see right now is that there were three or four trees, a basketball court, and tables so we can eat outside. They even re-painted the walls during the summer. They were light blue on the area closer to the ceiling and white covered the rest.
After what felt like thirty minutes, a stallion walked onto the stage and started talking to some mare that I hadn't noticed on the stage. Two or three minutes later, the stallion went to the microphone and started talking into it.
"Good morning, and welcome to Ponyville Middle School!" He said. "My name is Mr. Fruit Punch, and I'm the principle of the school. You all should've been given your schedules before school started. If you have one, please take them out." (Almost everypony took out their schedules) "Alright, if you are in 7th or 8th grade, you may go ahead to your first period classes. 6th graders, please stay here and I will welcome you to our school and introduce you to the staff and teachers."
Peppermint and I stood up and walked out the cafeteria. He and I had different first periods, so we had to part ways. I walked by myself to room 19 and entered the room. The teacher told me to pick a seat to sit in. I chose one in the back of the room.
Five minutes later, the room filled up.
The teacher walked to the front of the room and cleared her throat. "Settle down, class. I know this is the first day and you're all excited. Okay. My name is Mrs. Tea Pot and I am your science teacher."
