The breeze blew gently in the air, and brought a sweet scent of roses and honeysuckle to the land. In a city, perched upon a mountainside, was a metropolis could be found. The streets were bustling with life, and ponies trotted about to whatever business they had. In a secluded part of the city, in a clothing shop, a mare was worrying frantically. She had traveled to Canterlot to think, and she wasn't making much progress. Rarity had a serious conundrum. How was she going to explain to her friends the nature of her and Twilight's relationship? And how would Spike take it? She knew he fancied her, but the species difference made a relationship improbable. And she fancied Twilight more, Her intelligence, her eyes, everything. She had worked up the courage to ask her out, and Twilight had accepted wholeheartedly. The night had been wonderful, and nothing had been interrupted or malfunctioned. Rarity sighed in frustration and confusion. How was she going to tell them? That was always the question now. She supposed she should just be forward and honest about it all, but she did have an image to maintain. Her conundrum left her lying down, the room seemingly now stuffy, and humid. She resolved to tell the owner of the shop to fix it, but she had more pressing matters. She figure she would have to tell them sooner or later. She materialized a quill, ink, and paper to her side, and tried to think of something. Dear friends, something rather... concerning to me has come up in recent months. I would like to tell you all about it, and I earnestly hope you all understand. Sincerely, Rarity. After closing the letter, she tried to remember the spell for sending letters. Once she did, she sent it in a blinding light blue flash. Once the light faded, she sat down again. How in Equestria was she going to tell them, especially if they were rather unsure about the situation. She shook her head. These were their friends, surely they would understand? She got her things, resolving to just open up about it. Once she had left, she thanked the owner for letting her stay there, and revealed the issue with the humidity. She arrived at the train station, and as she received her tickets, she smelled a faint scent of mud and flowers. That would mean... Just as she was thinking it, a yellow Pegasus crashed into her, sending them both falling to the ground. Rarity tried to make sense of the situation, and noticed who her attacker was. "Oh, hello Fluttershy, what brings you here?" Fluttershy shook her head, removing tiny pieces of twig. "Oh, um, I was looking for you, actually. Opal isn't responding well to my cat food brand, and I wanted to know if you could tell me what she uses?" Rarity sighed in relief. "Oh, no need to worry, dear. I was on my way back just now, when you, ah... stumbled into me." Fluttershy began to mumble something, looking away from her. "Oh no, it's alright, darling! Come, let's return home, and you can tell me all that's troubling you." The train had just arrived, and the doors opened with a hissing noise. When they stepped in, they found almost all of the seats taken. They found an open spot finally, near the very rear, and sat, wondering what was going on. "Well, as I said, I came here to ask about Opal's diet. And because... we're all kind of worried. Y-you seem really anxious recently, a-and we hope it's not because of us." Rarity started sweating, trying to think of some kind of lie. "N-no, darling, why would you think that? Um, you look like you could use a rest, w-why don't you lie do..." Fluttershy shushed her with a hoof. "Rarity, what's wrong? You're not yourself, and I-I'm worried. Please, tell me what's wrong." "I-I can't darling. I'll tell you and all the others tomorrow. Please, I'm just nervous, that's all. Please, darling, can we talk after then?" Fluttershy nodded, and Rarity smiled. The rest of the train ride was dull and painfully, excruciatingly long. They talked about the fashion changing, the weather, and their friends. "I-I don't know, Twilight seemed rather... twitchy, when I brought up romance." "Darling, um... m-maybe it's a rather touchy subject, hm? I'm sure she has g-good reason, to dodge the question." Fluttershy sighed. "I guess you're right. Oh, we're back. I hope Angel is okay." As they walked, they were silent. Wind tossed their manes about to and fro, and the sun was beginning to set. When they reached Fluttershy's cottage, Rarity excused herself. "Sorry, dear, but I must take my leave. A... rather obtrusive circumstance has arisen. Do forgive me." "O-oh, that's okay. I need to put the creatures to bed, anyway. Thank y-you for walking me home." Rarity smiled, slightly amused at her friends shyness, even after all the time passed. "It was a pleasure, darling. Remember, if you need help getting Angel to behave, I have a lovely tutu I've been dying to see on him." Angel came out from the couch, eyes wide. He tried to hop away, but Fluttershy picked him up. "Now, Angel, you need to go to sleep, so you can grow stronger. Goodbye, Rarity." "Goodbye, Fluttershy, pleasant dreams." Rarity closed the door, and sighed heavily. She had no doubt Fluttershy wouldn't mind her dating Twilight, but the rest? That was another chapter altogether. She supposed she would find out tomorrow, when she told them. Twilight better be there, I will not do it alone. When she stepped in her boutique, she tried to turn on the lights. But she was stopped. In the middle of the boutique's main room, surrounded by candles, clad in a frilly saddle, stockings and a collar, sat Twilight Sparkle. She was holding a riding crop in her mouth, and she smiled seductively. "Hello, mistress. I've been bad, and I'm willing to accept my punishment." ::: The next day was a bright, sunny day. The birds sang and whistled, and flowers danced in the breeze. In the Carousel Boutique, Rarity was waking up, albeit slowly. She gained her senses, and realized she was lying next to Twilight. She still had all her lingerie on from last night. Rarity sighed, got up, and went to go make a dandelion smoothie. She sat down at her window, gazing at Town Hall. She had planned to tell only her friends first, but supposed that she was dating the local princess, so all would have to know. As she sat there pondering her predicament, Twilight came down the stairs. She saw her marefriend sitting there alone, and wondered what was bothering her. "Hey, beautiful. What's wrong, something on your mind?" "Good morning, Twilight. I'm just attempting to figure out a way to tell them." Twilight's face scrunched. "Tell who what?" "Oh, you know very well what. How are we going to tell them about our relationship without some sort of trouble. You know very well, darling, that there are some ponies who, um... dislike this type of thing." Twilight smiled, and sat down next to her, rubbing her hooves "Oh, Rarity. I know, but if they can't accept it, that's their business. What matters is the ponies who do accept it and I believe our friends will. Come on, we have to tell them today, that gives us all some time before the event." Rarity smiled, and let Twilight lead her to her room. After they got washed up, they decided to eat some sustenance first. As they ate, they wanted to clear up some issues before they announced it. "Twilight, do you really... love me? And are you sure I'm the mare you want?" Twilight giggled, making Rarity nervous. "Oh, stop being so flustered. Our friends won't have any problems with it, I'm sure. They know us, and Lyra and Bon-Bon are seeing each other, and so are Rainbow and Fluttershy. They'll offer support. Just stop worrying, and we'll cross that bridge when we come to it." Rarity smiled at her marefriend, knowing the words she spoke were true. "Oh Twilight, you're right. I wrote you a poem, would you read it? I know how much you admire poetry." She hoofed Twilight a slip of paper, and Twilight opened it. "Deep in the forest, shadows do call, So even my lovely, she may soon fall. But as long as I hold her, ever so near, She'll find safe haven, if even I fear. That one day soon, we'll open up hearts, May nopony ever tear us apart." Twilight loked at Rarity. "You know I have books for poetry, you didn't need to..." Rarity pushed a hoof up to Twilight's mouth, smiling. Twilight smiled back, knowing Rarity would fight for her way. They finished their meals, and stepped out the door. A bright, war sun greeted them, and the birds still sang. As they made their way to the town's center, they brought up a previous issue. "Rarity, do you really think everypony needs to be told?" "I do. You are the local royalty." Twilight sighed. "Don't remind me." Rarity giggled, and they finally found themselves at their destination. A few of the ponies that were told were there already, including their friends. As more ponies arrived, Rarity got more anxious. They did their head count, and saw everypony was there now. Twilight cleared her throat, which was becoming dry. "Hello, everypony. I hope you're all doing well, especially those who's homes were damaged when Tirek was here. I have an announcement, for you all, especially the rest of the Elements. A half a year ago, I received some rather interesting letters, about eleven, from an individual. They were love letters, and were rather sweet. The sender was revealed, and it was none other than Rarity, the Element of Generosity." Many ponies cheered at this, but soon were quieted. "Now, we've been seeing each other for a few months, and a week ago decided that we would like to entertain the prospect of marriage. I know a few of you will be rather put off by this, which is why we're telling you now. The wedding is to be held at the Royal Gardens, in two weeks. All are invited, and we'll pay for your train tickets." As the crowd cheered again, Twilight had Rarity step up to the podium. "Hello, everypony. I'm rather pleased at the number of you who have shown such enthusiasm towards this announcement, and I thank you all. I desired for Twilight since I met her, and I never knew how to begin telling her my affections. It started out as the aforementioned letters, but I decided that it was time for the reveal. It would mean so much to me, to us, if you would join us at the wedding. Thank you all." After she stepped off, the crowd disbanded. She was relieved that the issue was out of the way, but another was made apparent. They needed to make the final preparations. They had the location, time, decorations, and the refreshments. But they had no attire. Rarity couldn't simply design their dresses herself, the surprise would be lacking. Rarity knew she could go to Hoity Toity to ask about other designers he'd seen, but he'd be too busy, surely. Then she remembered that she could make her dress, and Twilight could browse Rarity's selections, and neither would have to see the other's choice. When they discussed this, Twilight decided it was as good an idea as any alternative. They went back to Rarity's boutique, and Rarity started making her dress, and told Twilight to look for one she wanted. Rarity settled for a violet base, with dark blue trim. As she worked, she wondered if Twilight was as nervous as she was. The thought was quickly disposed of. She had more pressing matters to deal with. The wind blew through cracks in her shop, whistling a rather cheerful, yet also melancholy tune. She listened to it, enthralled by the sheer emotion she found in it, and found herself losing track of time. She shook herself, gathering her thoughts again. She continued to work, and the wind continued it's tune. The hours grew later, and it had been hours since Twilight selected a dress. She decided it would be best to retire for the evening, and ceased her designing. But she couldn't help feeling there was something she was forgetting. She shrugged it off, thinking it was unimportant, crawled into bed, and drifted away, the tune of the wind and Twilight never leaving her thoughts. The upcoming matrimony between their local princess and the town fashionista was a rather stirring event. Everypony was trying to decide what to wear, and if they should take a gift. In the Carousel Boutique, Rarity was spending a bit of time with her love. Twilight was snuggled up with her, stroking her mane. "Rarity, I just want to know, could you possibly, write a song for the wedding? I've contacted a band to perform it, and you write such lovely songs." Rarity smiled. "Sure, Twilight. What should it be about?" "Love, and finally finding it after years. And how you never expect it to bloom so readily." Rarity smiled, and nodded. She continued to cuddle her lover, and stayed that way for hours. But they knew they had to return to their preparations before the wedding. Rarity returned to creating her dress, and Twilight had to study the vows, and the order of which the activities were to be performed. Rarity was planning the hem, and had an idea. Dark blue went well with violet, and the hem needed a color. She got to work on it, and continued long and hard, into the mild, moonlit night. ::: In the morning, it was only one day until the wedding, and everypony was finishing their errands. The heroes of Equestria were in Twilight's home, at their seats. After Tirek destroyed her original Treebrary, Celestia had given her a castle of her own. It even had thrones for all six Elements, which they occupied. They were going over al of the last minute arrangements and planning, and conversed heartily. "The band is playing after the ceremony? Who'd you hire?" "Reigning Roses, they're alternative metal, so like ChePonny, but mixed with Sliptrot and System Of A Pony. But I've asked them to play a bit of one of their softer songs for the first part of the dancing. But yes, they play after everypony goes outside to dance." Twilight took a drink, the hassle getting to her head. "Okay, how many ponies will be staying for the festivities?" "It should be almost everypony. I know my brother Shining and Cadance will be there." Everypony nodded, remembering full well Twilight's brother and his fiancé. They were satisfied with the plans, and stayed to discuss what else was going to happen. "Well, Reigning Roses also agreed to play another love song during the walk down the aisle. They're the featured band of the night, but we'll also have Octavia Melody playing her cello with them. Princess Celestia will be performing the ceremony, and after we finish, she and Luna are going to start the dancing." Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie smiled at this, as the Royal Sisters dancing was a humorous thought. It was getting to be lunch time, so they excused themselves to eat. Rarity and Twilight stayed though, and continued to chat about their plans after marriage. "Twilight, I wrote that song you asked about, and sent it to them. But I have a question, why is Octavia playing with an alternative metal band?" "Because they have a... unique style, not usually used in those genres, and it includes not only bass and drums, but cello, violin and piano. like Akira Ponyoka. But anyway, they'll play your song as long as it's actually sent two days before, so they can rehearse." "Ah, good, I'm in time then. I do hope you like it, but it's mediocre compared to other songs." Twilight smiled at her, and ruffled the fashionista's mane. They snuggled there for the rest of the time, until the others returned. They continued to joke and visit, late into the night again. ::: The day of the wedding was upon Equestria. Everypony ran around, desperately trying to finish their clothing. This was going to be perfect for their local princess, and all who ruined, or attempted to ruin, the wedding night would answer to a mob. As noon drew near, they all traversed to Ponyville's train station, bearing the seal of Princess Twilight Sparkle. They got to their seats, and anxiously awaited the time to pass. In another part of Equestria, a certain white unicorn mare was putting on her finest dress and makeup. Her stylist was helping her fix her dress, but didn't really need to. She had magic specifically for this activity, so she had him here really only to finish things. Once she was satisfied with her appearance, she left to wait for the guests to arrive. Twilight would be at the other entrance, to ensure they couldn't see each other. Octavia was playing at the door, as the band was outside, waiting for everypony to step outside later. After the last of the guests had entered, it was almost time for the ceremony. Rarity was waiting outside the door, for her signal. After the opening song, a colt told her it was time. She took a deep breath, checked her mane, and walked in. The crowd of ponies gathered gasped, and some even offered small applause. She slowly made her way to the altar, where Twilight waited. She was clad in a dress of deep purple, similar to Rarity's mane, and the hem was her coat color, covered in stars. Rarity's dress was violet, with a dark blue hem, and the collar was clad in diamonds. When she reached the altar, Princess Celestia cleared her throat, and began. "Dearest citizens, we have gathered in this room, today, to celebrate the joining of my faithful student and sister, Twilight Sparkle, and her marefriend, Rarity. This is a very large occasion, and will stay with them for the rest of their lives. If nopony objects, then we'll commence. Twilight Sparkle, do you take Rarity to be your wife, for as long as you live?" "I do." Celestia smiled. "And do you, Rarity, take Twilight Sparkle to be yours, as long as you live?" "I do." Rarity looked at Celestia. "Then I now pronounce you both, mare and wife. Don't you dare disappoint her." Celestia glared at Rarity. The Fashion pony gulped, and smiled meekly. As they exchanged their rings, Octavia's pitch rose. They kissed, and everypony cheered. The newly married couple lingered like that, and finally pulled away. Celestia smiled, and new they would be happy. "Everypony, you may now gather outside for food and festivities." They all filed out of the hall, and congratulated Twilight and Rarity, offering hoofshakes and hugs. They all met outside, and the band was playing. Princess Celestia and Luna were starting the dancing, and Rarity and her lover joined them. "The very first thing, my love, That we had, was a dove. The smile it put on your face, is a memory, I can't erase. Rarity and Twilight twirled around, as did the Royal Sisters. They were in complete bliss. "Your beautiful face, your sparkling eyes, I loved you from first sight. But right here in my arms! We'll never be apart!" The pairings swooped and swayed, and their manes flowed behind them. "Dead loneliness my heart! I'll never be forgot! So just until we stop, let's go against the clock! The pairs stopped in place, their partners draped over their hooves. Dead loneliness my heart! I'll never be forgot! 'Til the lovely sun sets, over the land... And they danced into the night, music sweeping over them. "Oh, my love, my heart. Never tear us, apart. And if we lose ourselves, we'll say, dead loneliness my heart!" Author's Note I wrote the songs played at the wedding in this myself, and the name of the band, Reigning Roses, is actually one that me and a few of my friends chose for our real band. Five Years LaterView OnlineFinally, My LoveFive Years LaterIt was five years since the wedding, and Rarity was sitting on her couch, tea cup steaming in her hooves. She gazed out at the wondrous sunset, it's purple and gold colors washing the scenery with a myriad of lights. As she sipped her mug, her lover, Twilight Sparkle, came up beside her. She got into the spot next to her and nuzzled her. Rarity grinned, and nuzzled back. It seemed Twilight's affectionate side came around when she married Rarity, that much was certain. "Hey Rarity?" Rarity looked at Twilight, with half lidded eyes. "Yes, my darling?" "I was wondering, since we're married now, I was thinking maybe we could... I don't know... adopt a foal?" Rarity changed her look from dreamy to confused. "What? You want to adopt a child? I suppose it would be beneficial for us, but what gender would we adopt?" Twilight thought for a bit. "It doesn't matter, whatever it was, we'd have such wonderful times. Come on, honey, please?" Rarity couldn't resist Twilight's eyes, it was one of the reasons she fell for the mare. She let out a rather annoyed sigh, but smirked. "Fine. But one condition: you must clean the diapers." "Ugh, fine." Rarity beamed. "Good, we can go look tomorrow." ::: The morning was cloudy, and the air was damp. Ponies were bustling about for work, and stopped to greet two specific mares. Twilight and Rarity were asking directions to the nearest orphanage, and finally located it. A rather elderly mare answered the door, and grinned. "Hello, welcome to Ponyville Orphanage, have you come to adopt?" Rarity and Twilight looked at each other. "Yes, we have. Do you have any available foals?" "Indeed we do. Right this way." As they stepped inside, a sound of young fillies playing permeated the air. They walked through the rooms, and finally stopped at a rather empty one, and only one foal seemed to reside there. He had a grey coat, with dark blue hair, falling over one eye. His cutie mark was a microphone and a bass guitar, crossed together. "Vocal Cord, there are some ponies who would like to see you." The foal looked up, and beamed when he saw Princess Twilight. "Oh gosh, are you really Princess Twilight? And Miss Rarity?" Twilight nodded. and she offered her hoof. "If it's alright with you, we're looking for a nice colt, somepony your age. Would you like a home with us?" The young stallion nodded, and rushed to their hooves. They looked at the elderly mare, and she smiled. "I'll go sign the paperwork, then you can leave." They sat there, anxiously waiting for her return. The wait only lasted a few minutes, and the mare came back, smiling. The new family smiled, and thanked the mare. As they left, they had a question on their minds. "Hey Vocal, what does your name mean?" The foal chuckled. "I'm a singer. That's my special talent." They facehoofed, realizing this was obvious, and Twilight excused herself. "Hang on, you both go ahead, I need to go to the castle to get something." She galloped off, trying to remember where she put it. When she opened the door, her instincts told her to call for spike. "Spike, are you here?" She searched around, looked in every room, and finally found him. He was laying on the ground, pictures of Rarity surrounding him, a fire had been built, and several photo frames stuck out of the ashes. She was puzzled, but chose to continue. She finally found her item, and galloped back to Rarity's boutique. She entered and saw Vocal with Rarity, and they were chatting. Vocal smiled when he saw Twilight, and she returned the gesture. "I have something for you. Princess Celestia thought I'd need it someday, but I don't really." The young colt smiled, and hugged his new parents. "Thanks, mum." They had confused looks again, but he smiled, blushing. "Sorry, when you're around ponies from Trottingham, the dialogue rubs off on you." They just chuckled, and chatted long into the evening, stories told and shared, and future hopes laid out to see. ::: In a massive tree castle, one silent figure drifted about in the darkness, hidden only by a cloak. A dim candle led his way, and he found what he wanted. The location where he had found the Inspiration Manifestation, the bridge had been rebuilt by magic. He stepped to the edge, and saw the fire below the ledges. He took pictures out of his cloak, pictures of Rarity and Twilight, and tossed them asunder. Spike had only one wish, but it was cast away, as nopony cared. He then took a breath, closed his eyes, and plunged. He landed in the flames, and they felt like fingers, tickling his ribs. He lay down like that, and drifted off to sleep, in which neither of the mares existed. Author's Note Yes, this is now complete. Remember, you can request a story, and I'll try to do it.
