There was still a bright flash from the spell, luckily it didn’t have that flash that burned to high hell. There was a startled yelp as I opened my eyes. There was a small purple lizard staring at me with wide eyes, clearly surprised by our sudden appearance. We both looked at each other for a moment.

“Um… hi?” I asked intelligently.

“H-hello,” it responded shakily. ‘It talks… could it be a dragon? I’m pretty sure the dragons here are sapient.’

“A talking lizard?”

“Dragon,” I cut Aaron off, “right?” I turned to the smaller, scaled biped, earning a suspicious look from him.

“How did you know that…?” asked the dragon.

“Last time I checked, lizards don’t talk, and dragons live in Equestria.”

"Aren't dragons... tall?" Aaron wondered.

"Yes, but I'm a baby dragon," it explained irritably, “what are you?”

“We’re humans,” Aaron answered, getting a sheepish look from the little dragon.

“I can’t say I’ve heard of a ‘human’ before, sorry,” he apologized.

“It’s alright, we didn’t really expect you too.” Aarons elbow suddenly hit my side, accompanied with a look that said ‘dude, watch it’.

“Anyways, we were supposed to wait here for somepony before heading off to Ponyville to supervise the upcoming Summer Sun Celebration.”

“I’m assuming you were sent here by somepony? ‘Cause you just kinda…”

“Popped up outta no where? We were sent by Princess Celestia to find… what was her name again?” he inquired, turning to me.

“Twilight Sparkle.”

“Oh! I’m Twilight's number one assistant actually!” the dragon exclaimed with pride.

“You are?”

“Yeah! My names Spike,” he introduced, holding out his claw, “it’s nice to meet you…”

“Aaron.”

“Christian,” we introduced, shaking his claw respectively, “it’s nice to meet you too, Spike.” I then noticed something on the table behind him, "What were you doing before we got here?"

"Oh, Moon Dancer is having a party tonight, and I got a present, I just need to wrap it," he said, walking back to the table, while Aaron went up some stairs to the second floor of the library mumbling something about magic.

"Want some help?"

"Sure, I guess since we'll be going to Ponyville for awhile apparently, I'll go tell Twilight that I'm gonna have somepony else deliver it," he said as we finished wrapping it. "Thanks for the help, I'll see you later."

"Seeya Spike." I said, watching him head towards the door. As I turned to the stairs to follow Aaron, the door slamming open and a pained yelp from Spike caught my attention. I saw him fly backwards as the gift for Moon Dancer flew from his grasp and he landed on it. I ran to him to help him up as I heard a mare's voice.

"Spike, Spiiiike!" she called out, she was a Unicorn, she had a purple coat, and a straight dark blue mane, with a purple and pink stripe going down it to the right of her horn, and dark violet eyes. ‘WAY too much purple, reminds me of The Covenant... whats that thing on their ass called again? Cutie Mark?’ It was a pink, six pointed star, with five smaller white stars surrounding it. ‘Is this Twilight Sparkle? Her Cutie Mark would definitely make sense...’

She looked down in surprise and saw Spike on the floor dazed from being hit with the door. "Spike? There you are," she said, running up the stairs to the second floor of the library, completely ignoring my presence. Spike -who had the present impaled on his tail- and I followed her upstairs, to find her running around probably looking for something, while Aaron was watching her with a surprised look in the middle of reaching for a book.

"Quick! Find me a book on predictions and...” she trailed off when she saw me standing behind Spike.

“Hello.” I waved, causing her eyes to widen momentarily.

“H-hello… uh, what a-”

“Humans,” Aaron cut her off, causing her to yelp and turn around to look at him as he opened a book that it’s title read; The Basics of Magic.

“What? That's… that's impossible,” she claimed with knitted eyebrows, “Humans are just myths.” Me and Aaron looked at her incredulously.

“Really? That's, kind of ironic,” Aaron said with a confused look.

“How?”

“I’ll tell you later, but are you Twilight Sparkle?”

“Yes, how do you know my name?” she asked with a suspicious look.

“Princess Celestia sent us to come get you -and apparently Spike by extension- so we can go and supervise the Summer Sun Celebration,” I continued for Aaron, watching as he took the chance to flip through some of the pages vigorously.

“She did? Wouldn’t she send me a letter saying something about two mythological creatures looking for me and Spike?” she inquired with increasing suspicion. Aaron wasn’t paying attention because he seems to have found whatever he was looking for.

“Uh…-” ‘That's definitely something somepony would notify somepony else about.’ “-I have no idea why she didn’t…” I said with a worried look.

She sighed “I’ll take your word for it, but I'm keeping my guard up.”

“I don’t know about you but they seem cool to me,” Spike chipped in, getting a grateful look from me.

She rolled her eyes, but then pointed to Spikes tail with her hoof, "what's that?"

He looked at the impaled present on his tail, "well," He pulled it of his tail with a sad look, "it was a gift for Moon Dancer, but..." he trailed off when a ripped teddy bear fell out the bottom.

"Oh Spike, you know we don't have time for that sort of thing." Did she really just say that? Everyone has time for parties, well sure, we actually don't right now because of the Summer Sun Celebration.’

"He was gonna have somepony else deliver it, but its broken now." I said as I picked up the teddy bear and threw it in a trash can.

"Still, I need to find a book on Predictions and Prophecies." She said, powering her horn with a magenta aura, causing books to start flying off the shelves and floating around her. Opting to wait and see if Celestia will eventually tell Twilight that we need to go to Ponyville, I went to go see what Aaron was reading.

“Dude, what are you doing?”

“Celestia said that we can do magic, so I’m reading on how to at least channel it.”

“Oh yeah… but we don’t have horns so how do we channel it? Our hands?”

“Probably.” He then pointed to a paragraph labeled; Channeling,“here, ‘to channel your magic, you must focus on the depth of your mind. When you are focused enough, you will feel another presence in your mind; that presence is your magical reserve.’” He paused as we both closed our eyes to ‘find’ our magical reserves.

I found mine pretty quickly, considering I just got it thirty minutes ago, and I played A LOT of video games with magic -while Aaron played the same games, he didn’t use magic builds- so I had a few good theories on how magic worked. ‘Video games rule.’ I opened my eyes to see Aaron still trying, but found it a moment later and opened his eyes but knitted his brows.

“This shit feels weird.”

“That's because you never used magic in any video games, unlike me.”

“That makes it different for you, how?”

“I knew what to expect.”

He rolled his eyes at my smug look and cleared his throat, “‘once you have found your magical reserve, to channel it you must attempt to ‘grab’ or ‘hold’ it. Once you have taken hold of your magic, ‘push’ or ‘pull’  it towards your horn, if you have done this correctly, your horn will light up with magic. The color of your magic either depends on your personality or is completely random, it may even just be your favorite color.’

I then closed my eyes and found my magical reserve, and followed the directions. I ‘held’ my magic by simulating the feeling of putting pressure on it. Instead of pushing it towards a horn that I didn’t have, I pushed it down and imagined a wedge to separate the ‘stream’ and send it to both my hands. The moment it reached my hands, it started to feel like it was ‘leaking’ from them. Worried because it wasn’t what I expected, I opened my eyes and raised my hands only to see that my hands were glowing my favorite color, a bright, vibrant green.

When I looked at Aaron, he was still trying. I checked the book to see if its supposed to feel like my magic is leaking from my hands. ‘Hint: When your horn is glowing, it will feel like your magic is leaking because it is very slowly using your magic.Huh.’

There was a quiet and confused ‘what the fuck’ from Aaron bringing my attention from the book to see what's wrong. He lifted his hands to look and I immediately noticed that the color of his magic reflects his personality. It was a blood red aura, but the outer edges were black. ‘I didn't think there was multicolored magic...’

“Uhhh, is it supposed to look like that?”

“Assuming it reflects your personality, yeah. Oh, also if it feels like your magic is leaking from your hands, its supposed to.”

“Why?”

“Its slowly draining your magic.” I got an understanding nod then a confused look.

“How do you stop channeling magic though?” he asked himself. Glancing at the book, he frowned. “‘Everypony has their own way to stop channeling their magic.’ Dammit.”

With a smug look, I simply ‘pulled’ the stream back up my arms, past the ‘wedge’ and back into my reserves and watched as my hands stop glowing.

“Not fair,” Aaron said, trying to stop channeling his magic. His expression suddenly lit up and he simply closed his eyes and clenched and unclenched his fist and it seemed to do the trick when he re-opened his eyes.

A thud followed by many other thuds from behind us caught our attention when we were about to move to the novice section of The Basics of Magic. We both turned around to see a satisfied Twilight with a book in her magic walking towards a table, leaving behind a disappointed Spike to clean up all the books on the floor.

“What's so important about that book?”

“I dunno but I'm gonna help Spike.”

“Yeah, sure,” I waved him off as we put our backpacks down at a table. I couldn’t help but get a little nosey when something seems to be important, since when it just so happens to be, nobody ever tells me anything. Sadly, it has lead me into gaining a bad habit of being nosey.

As Aaron and Spike picked up the books, I followed Twilight to see what's so important about this damn book about prophecies, "Elements, Elements... E, E, E..." she mumbled to herself as the pages flipped constantly.

"There!" I put a finger on the page to stop the flipping.

"Thanks... Elements of Harmony... see.. Mare in the Moon?"

"The fuck is Mare in the Moon?" I mumbled.

"Mare in the Moon? But that's just an old ponies tale," Spike called from a ladder.

"Mare, Mare, aha! The Mare in the Moon, myth from olden pony times. A powerful pony who wanted to rule Equestria, defeated by the Elements of Harmony and imprisoned on the moon." she read as Spike put away a book and lost his balance on a ladder, but Aaron didn't notice, thankfully Spike regained his balance. "Legend has it, that on the longest day on the thousandth year, the stars will aid in her escape, and she will bring about nighttime eternal! Do you know what this means?"

‘The hell? I never read about this!’

"No?" Spike answered, blindly reaching to put away a book when he looked away. He immediately lost his balance and fell, only to be caught by Aaron, who gave him a questioning look before putting him down.

“Be more careful man.”

"Heheh, sorry," he apologized as he walked to the ladder to put it back up. A scroll and a quill interrupted him, he took it as Twilight spoke up.

"Take a note please, too the Princess"

"Okie dokey!"

"My Dearest Teacher, my continuing studies of pony magic have led me to discover that we are on the precipice of disaster!"

"Hold on, pressi... preciii...?"

"Threshold."

"thraaa..."

"Uh, brink?"

Spike just gave her dumb look. Making me and Aaron chuckle, "Basically, stuffs gonna go down." Aaron simplified for him, as he continued writing Twilight promptly continued talking.

"For you see, the mythical Mare in the Moon, is in fact Nightmare Moon, and she's about to return to Equestria, and bring with her eternal night! Something must be done to make sure this terrible prophecy does NOT come true. I await your quick response. Your Faithful Student, Twilight Sparkle."

"Twiiiliiight, Spaarkle! Got it!"

"Great! send it." I raised a brow and checked the window. ‘Is she really gonna make him run all the way there and back?’

"Now?"

"Of course!"

"Uh, I dunno Twilight... Princess Celestia is busy getting ready for the Summer Sun Celebration. And its like, tomorrow."

“You’d think she would squeeze in writing a letter to you about me and Christian,” Aaron chipped in. I looked at him. ‘wait, he WAS listening?’

"That's just it though, tomorrow is the thousandth year of the Summer Sun Celebration. Its imperative that the Princess is told right away!"

"Impara... imparaaa...?"

"IMPORTANT!" she shouted in his face, some how with enough force to launch him into the book shelves, where a pile of books toppled over.

"Okay, okay!" As he stood up with the letter, he took a deep breath and- ‘Why the fuck would he burn it?!’ "There, its on its way!"

"What?! You… it… you burned it!" Aaron stumbled, clearly as stupefied as I am as to why he would just burn the letter.

"Actually, the fire that Spike breathes is enchanted so that when the item disintegrates, its sent to Princess Celestia," Twilight clarified.

‘For real? Does it really fuckin do that? You know what? I should just start taking everything in stride...’

Aaron just opened his mouth to retort but shut it, followed by a finger gunshot to the head.

"I wouldn't hold your breath Twilight." Spike said smugly.

"Oh I'm not worried Spike, the Princess trusts me completely. In all the years she's been my mentor, she's never once doubted me." They both shared a smug look with each other before Spike... quite literally puked up a letter.

"See? I knew she would want to take immediate action," she said victoriously. At this point, me and Aaron were just sitting the table next to our backpacks letting them talk. Spike picked up the letter and cleared his throat.

"My Dearest, most Faithful Student Twilight. You know that I value your diligence, and I trust you completely." I looked to Aaron with a raised brow.

“Is this what were doing today?”

"This is what were doing today," he deadpanned as Spike continued reading.

"But you simply must stop reading those dusty old books!" Twilight gasped as me and Aaron let out a short laugh. "There is more to a young ponies life than studying, so I'm sending you, along with Equestria’s newest citizens; Aaron and Christian, to supervise the preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration in this years location, Ponyville. And I have an even more essential task for The three of you to complete," me and Aaron looked at Spike as he read our names, "make some friends!" Me and Aaron smiled at the thought of having people, well, ponies to talk to, rather than just each other all day, while Twilight just groaned.

"Finally she says something about us!" I pointed out.

"Look on the bright side Twilight! The Princess arranged for us to stay in a library, doesn't that make you happy?"

"Yes,” she perked up, "yes it does, you know why? Because I'm right! I'll check on the preparations as fast as I can, then get to the library to find some proof of Nightmare Moon's return!"

"But, when will you make friends, like the Princess said?" he asked sadly.

"Yeah, who knows, maybe those said friends you make, could help you stop this 'disaster'?" Aaron tried to reason with her.

"She said to check on preparations, I am her student, and I will do my Royal Duty, but the fate of Equestria does not rest on me making friends!" she retorted, walking down the stairs, the three of us shared a look before me and Aaron picked up our backpacks and we went downstairs to follow her outside.
