Chapters "....ngh....ah..."
The mare's eyes began to flutter open, only to be met with bright light, resulting in the mare shutting her eyes tight. Slowly, she opened her eyes again, and the light faded. The first thing she saw when her vision cleared was:
blue .
She saw blue.
Blue was everywhere, from the couch she was apparently sitting on to the walls. Actually, where was she? She didn't recognize this place.
That's when she noticed she wasn't alone.
Two ponies stood before her. One had a tan coat that seemed to stand out in the truly blue room. His mane was a dark brown color in an almost mohawk style. The colt's eyes were closed, hiding their color. He had one hoof holding his head, as if he was expecting her or if deep in thought.
The other was a mare. She had a light gray coat that didn't seem as monochrome when put in the blue overlay. Her mane was short and golden blonde. What caught the confused mare off guard was her bright gold eyes, one was staring at her, and the other was looking diagonally left. The cutie mark on this strange mare was a stream of bubbles.
The silence of the room broke as the strange colt spoke. His voice, raspy yet wise and young, rang out as his eyes slowly opened, revealing to be a shade of blue.
"Welcome to the Velvet Room."
Velvet Room, huh? So that's what this place was. The mare pondered as her eyes drifted to the colt.
"Ah..." The colt breathed in. "I believe we have a guest with an interesting path ahead of them."
He smiled and laughed softly. "My name is Time Turner. It is a pleasure to make your aquaintance."
"A-ah..." The confused purple-furred mare quickly jumped to attention. "O-oh...i-it's nice to meet you too..." She said softly, embarrased.
The colt known as Time Turner seemed to ignore her and spoke slowly, as if explaining a fairytale.
"This place exists between dream and reality, mind and matter...It is a room that only those who are bound by a contract are allowed to explore...."
Is he referring to what he called the Velvet Room earlier? The purple mare inferred.
"It perhaps appears that a such a path is waiting for you in the future." Time Turner smiled knowingly, as if he knew what "path" he was talking about. "Now then..." he continued, "do you care to introduce yourself?"
"A-ah!" The purple mare felt even more embarresed. She had forgot to introduce herself! "M-my name; it's Twilight. Twilight Sparkle."
"Ah...I see..." Time Turner nods. "Let us take a look into this destined future of yours, shall we?" He moved his hoof inches above the blue glass table, and a light glowed bright, engulfing it. Twilight tried to stop herself from gasping.
Time Turner's eyes drifted to Twilight's. "Do you believe in fortune telling?"
Twilight nodded reluctantly.
The colt swiped his hand and the light turned into six cards neatly set on the glass table face down. "Each telling is done with same cards in hoof, but the result is always different." He said with a whimsical tone to his voice. "Doesn't life follow the same rules?"
Time Turner took up a card in his hand. "The Tower, in an upright position. It represents the imminent future, and this reading in particular shows that terrible danger litters your path."
A chill struck Twilight's spine and she nodded, beginning to shiver.
"The card signifying the future beyond is...", he glances at another card, "The Moon in an upright position, representing hesitation and mystery...how intruiging."
Twilight herself was intruiged herself, though the first card revealed struck her with fear.Terrible danger? Imminent future? To say the least, she was nervous.
"It appears that a catastrophe of large proportions will be struck upon you, and mystery will weigh on your shoulders." The colt continued, only making Twilight more nervous. "In the following days, you will be intertwined in a contact. You will then return here. This year is a change of pace for your fate. If the mystery intertwined in your life never solves, your path will be at great risk." He nods at Twilight, and she nervously nods back.
"My duty here is to ensure that my guests will have enough assistance to prevent this." Time Turner reassured, flipping the face up cards back to face down with a look of mysterious interest on his face.
He then glances to the grey mare and then to Twilight. "It appears I have forgotten to introduce my assistant. My apologies."
"I-it's alright...." Twilight reassured, voice cracking under pressure.
"This," Time Turner said, motioning to the grey mare, "is Ditzy Doo, though she prefers to be called Ditzy. She is a resident of this room, similar to I."
Ditzy gives her a happy smile and spins, grey wings unfolded. After doing a full ballet spin, she closes her wings and sits on a blue couch beside Twilight. "My name's Ditzy! I'm here to help you on your journey so you don't get lost and stuff! Cause getting lost in the future is a big no-no!" The voice of the pegasus mare was abound with bubbly attitude and cheery nature.
"The details will be shared later at another time." Time Turner says, smile wavering. "Until then, I must wish you good luck. Farewell..."
"W-wait!" But before Twilight can say anything, the scene in front of her fades into black.
-
"Heeey~ all you happy little watchers out there!"
Peppy music woke Twilight up with a start. She glanced at what had caused the noise; a TV. On this TV was a white furred mare with a curly purple mane and a cutie mark of three blue crystals. She was under a waterfall-speed shower of water and was showing the top half of her body.
Ah, yes, that's Rarity. Rarity was a famous pop idol, wasn't she? It was typical for her to show up in a commercial. She continued to watch.
Rarity pulled out an apple cider bubbling in its mug and drank a sip, winking.
"Is big brother's throat dry? Or is little sister in need of something sweet? Perhaps you need a sip of something that is fresh with flavor?" her motivational voice echoed. "Why don't you have some cider that even I can handle?"
Twilight turned away from the screen. So it was a dream after all? she pondered, thinking about the strange "velvet room" in her dream. She then remembered she was on a train: a train to Ponyville.
"We are now arriving at Ponville Station, Equestria."
Twilight got off the comfy chair she was on and used her horn to pick up her belongings; her stop was reached. "Here we go..." She trotted out of the car reluctantly, onto the streets, to meet a colt who smiled warmly and said in a burly, deep voice:
"Hi, Twilight. Welcome to Ponyville."
When Things Just Stop Making Sense
"Do you seek the future?"
The voice awoke Twilight with a start, but she...well, she wasn't awake. She was in a dream, or thay's what she thought, anyway. The voice in particular reminded Twilight of when she had that other dream about the "Velvet Room", as the voice sounded like the one belonging to the colt Time Turner.
Do..d-do I seek the future? The question rang in Twilight's mind. Does she seek the future? What does the question mean? Does she desire to see what will happen next in her life?
"Uh...hello?" Twilight called out to nowhere in particular. Her vision cleared; well, sort of. She could see, but fog stopped her from seeing anything.
The only thing Twilight felt she could do was walk forward, so that's what she did. She galloped forward cautiously, feeling a chill run down her spine. Where was she?
"Do you seek the truth?"
That voice again.
Twilight shuddered as she continued on.
"Then, come and find me...."
"Who? Who am I supposed to come and find?" Twilight desperatly called out, trying to find out who was speaking, but no answer appeared.
She decided to continue galloping.
The fog grew thicker, and thicker, and thicker, and it was hard to see. Twilight found herself falling on her face a couple times.
After recovering from a rather tedious fall, Twilight noticed something on the other side. It was red and black...swirling and swirling together as if it was trying to hypnotize her.
"What is this-" Twilight questioned, but stopped herself when she realized that no pony would answer. She trotted closer to it, narrowing her eyes in an attempt to see clearer.
Suddenly, a chill, not like any other, ran up her spine. It was a chill that surfaced like a sense- a feeling that something was happening.
Something was beyond that door.
Fear striking Twilight at every angle, she pressed her hoof against the red-and-black structure. Light began to shine through the fog, and Twilight had to shield her eyes from it in order to not go blind. However, this wasn't enough: the light was pressing against her like a hammer pushing harder and harder. Soon, light engulfed her entire sight.
When she removed her hooves from her eyes, her vision cleared to be met with a peculiar silhoutte of a pony...almost like a shadow.
"So you came...are you the one in pursuit of me? Heh...try all you like...I will not stop you."
Suddenly, a feeling struck Twilight as if lightning had hit her. "Ngh...aaaagh!" She yelped in pain, and suddenly, a voice came to light in her mind.
I am...thou art...
time is...open...
The sound was chopped up, as if there was more to be said, but it was cut off.
Before anything could happen, a blue card rose above her, just in the line of Twilight's vision. "H-huh...?"
She reaced out to touch it. The moment she touched it, it shattered, and the lightning worthy pain struck her again. Another silhoutte of some sort of thing she'd see out of mythology appeared, though Twilight could not make out what it was. It struck at the pony silhoutte, but the silhoutte did not falter.
"Might it be you can see...you are not ready to control it."
What was the silhoutte saying? Keeping its word, it did not strike back. Twilight felt the card fall down again-she just could tell when it was appearing somehow. Tapping it once more reluctantly, pain shot through her- this time more forceful, and she winced, trembling as the mythology silhoutte appeared again.
"The sweet delusions of the world are all created through this fog...this is what people want."
She struck again. Though the pain shook her, her sight never wavered, and her energy never faded.
The silhoutte finally attacked. The fog seemed to grow even thicker.
When Twilight attacked, it didn't even connect, and the pain grew worse. "What the- I..."
Dark shadows began to envelop her line of sight.
"Perhaps we will meet again..."
Then, it all went black.
"Hey, heey! Twi-nii! Twilight-nii! Wake up!"
The squeaky, innocent voice brought Twilight to attention. It was none other than Little Spark, who was calling her 'Twi-nii" and "Twilight-nii" for some reason.
"You gotta get ready for school, Twi-nii!"
That woke her.
"Nyaaah! I'm gonna be laaate!"
"T-twi, you're not gonna be late, you ju-"
"Nyaaah!"
In a rush of clothes, hair ties and slightly burnt toast, Twilight was out of the house. "Bye, Watch Light-san, Spark-chan!"
It was a long walk to school.
It was quiet..and boring...and...foggy?
Really foggy. It was so hard to see, which was probably one of the reasons why it was a long walk to school.
The boring silence was broken not too long after though.
"Kyaaaaaaah!"
It was a high pitched yell of fear, and before she could react, something pink wheeled past her. Shortly after, a CRASH sounded.
"Whoah!" In a hurry to get to school but still figure out what was happening, Twilight rushed over to where she heard the crash.
There was a pink tricycle that was dirty and a bit cracked. It had balloon motifs all over it.
There was also a light pink mare with a dark pink mane of bubbly puffs and cyan eyes that whirled around and around in the "I'm dizzy" motion. Her cutie mark consisted of three balloons.
"Uh..are you okay?" Twilight offered a hoof to the mare.
The mare lept up without the help of Twilight, and paying her no mind, she bounced off, leaving the confused Twilight and the tricycle behind.
"I was just trying to help..." Twilight said, feeling a disappointed growl place itself inside of her.
This was going to be one heck of a school year.

Two Heads are Better Than One...Unless you're Twilight
The colt standing before Twilight was none other than what her parents had said to be her uncle; pale blue coat, yellow slick hair, cobalt blue eyes. It was hard to believe they were related: other than the fact they were both unicorns. He wore thick black glasses and a suit: he must be in his work uniform.
"Hello, you must be Twilight, right?" The colt asked.
"Uh huh, Twilight Sparkle. Nice to meet you." Twilight nodded in greeting.
"I'm Watch Light. I work at the Ponyville Police Department. I'm also your uncle." The colt said as he shuffled to the right. "Hey, Sparkles, come on out." He looked behind him, and a single tiny head poked out from behind the colt.
"I don't wanna." 'Sparkles' refused to come out.
"Come on, Little Spark, come on out and introduce yourself!" Watch Light urged, pushing the filly out in front of him. The filly called "Little Sparks" shared Watch Light's eye color: colbalt blue. She had bright pink fur and a golden mane that was is two curly low ponytails. Twilight also noticed she was a pegasus. Perhaps a genetic trait from her mother?
".......'lo." Little Spark said in a embarrased squeaky voice. She shyly hid behind Watch Light in a hurry, grasping his hooves. She then forcefully hit Watch Light's hooves with her muzzle before backing out behind him again.
"Erm...she's my daughter. Forgive her shyness." Watch Light sheepishly said, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Little Spark...was it?" Twilight asked kindly, trying to bond with the little filly.
"...uh huh."
"Well, it's nice to meet you, I'm Twilight Sparkle." Twilight Sparkle bended down and smiled warmly.
Little Spark blushed and clutched Watch Light's hooves tighter.
"Anyway, let's go. We can stop at the bakery on the way to my house." Watch Light suggested.
They then began to trot off.
Finally, Twilight reached the bakery. It was a "think pink" bakery with shades of magenta head to toe.
She trotted in the bakery and used her horn to shut the door after Watch Light and his daughter came in.
Watch Light motioned to the cashier. "I'll have the usual, please. Extra for the purple mare Twilight here; she just got here from the city."
The cashier happily nodded. Watch Light trotted with Little Spark towards the bathroom.
"Hey, come over here!" A bubbly voice caught Twilight's attention. It was the cashier.
Twilight reluctantly galloped over. "Er...yes?"
"Are you a high school student?"
"Uh, yes.." Twilight was nervous by the sudden question but she nodded, rubbing the back of her neck.
"Oooh, ooh, it must be hard for you to get used to life like this. It's reeeally quiet. Most people like you end up either spending time with friends or working part time at jobs." The cashier went on, bringing out a plate of donuts.
"I just got here though.....", said Twilight, picking up a pink frosted donut and biting into it, "but I'll get used to it."
"Speaking of," the cashier said, looking around, "we're looking for workers right now. It'd be great if you could help! Give it some thought! We don't really care if you're still in school!" The cashier mare offered her hoof. Twilight shook it, and the cashier walked off, just as Little Spark ran to her.
Suddenly, Twilight felt pain in her head and she grasped her forehead in exhaustion.
"Are you okay? You look a bit sick.." Little Spark sakd, worried.
"....it's probably just the donut. I might not have eaten a fully made one or something." Twilight reassured, but she herself didn't know why she suddenly had a headache.
Watch Light came to Twilight, picked up the donut plate with his horn and motioned to the door. Twilight nodded and they began to head home.
At Watch Light's house, the three of them were at a table, food neatly prepared in front of them.
The phone suddenly rang, and Watch Light suddenly hurried to get it.
"Yes, uh huh, where to? Okay, g'bye.' Watch Light turned to Little Spark. "I have buisness to attend to, Twilight, you take care of Sparkles, okay?" He left with a simple goodbye.
The news announcer's voice picked up on the TV in front of them.
"City council secretary Brave Guard has been set under suspicion and under fire after seeings of an unaccounted relationship with a mare reporter. His wife, Peaceful Ballad, stated she will take up all damages. In response, Starlet Television will stop showing appearances of Flowing Melody, the announcer. Until further notice, there will be no televised appearances of this mare."
Pictures of each pony showed up at each name accordingly.
"This is boring. I'm gonna change the channel." Little Spark pressed a button on the remote control. Happy music sounded and a jingle played.
"As you know, every day at Sugarcube Corner is Customer Appreciation Day! Come over and see for yourself!" It was a commercial.
"Everyday's great at your Sugarcube!" The jingle sounded again, and the announcer sang to it. Little Spark sang along.
"Hey, aren't you going to eat? It'll get cold." Little Spark looked worried.
Twilight said nothing but reluctantly ate her food.
Afterwards, Twilight went upstairs and went on her bed.
I'm spending a whole lot of time here...
I hope it's as fun as it sounds....
Twilight's eyes fluttered closed, and her mind drifted into sleep.
