Author's Note
Originally this story was with humans and a creature called the De'meir. All custom made. Now the creature was basically the same as the one in this story except it was an anthromorphic werewolf like creature. This idea is about 4 or so years old and only now have I decided to post it. Chances are this will be the only Horror story I will post on this site. Only Horror, I might post others. Enjoy the read.
-edit in- I will continue with Part 2 if I get some reviews on how the beginning is shaping up. I mainly want to know this because in horror, generally the first bit sets the tone for the rest of the story.

Part 1
“The Sins of the parents are the sins of their children…..”
Tic Toc……Tic Toc…… An antique clock in Twilight’s home ticked away. Tic Toc…….Tic Toc…… Then a bird came out of the top and started chirping at about 7:00 in the morning. Twilight rose from her bed with a yawn. She had a good night’s sleep and rubbed her eyes with her hooves. She looked out through a nearby window in her library and any late sleep fuzziness was dispelled. A red fog seemed to have engulfed the streets of ponyville. She dismissed it as the fog reflecting the red glow from the sun that was just now rising with a crimson hue to it.
“Spike. Spike!” Twilight called out.
"In here!” Her little dragon replied. He was stuck in a cupboard in the kitchen.
"Now spike, how did you get stuck in there?” Twilight said with a small laugh as she used her magic to teleport him out.
"You should know how, Twi. You were sleep casting again!” He said indignantly.
“Oh um, sorry Spike.” Twilight replied earnestly. “I don’t know what’s wrong with me lately.”
Spike just shrugged. “Ah don’t sweat it Twilight, maybe it was something you ate. I mean you were mumbling a lot last night in addition to the normal spell flinging.” Spike said with a smile to his friend.
Twilight frowned slightly. “Mumbling?” She asked.
“Yeah, I couldn’t tell what you were saying though. Probably something about your stomach hurting. We did eat a lot at Pinkie’s party last night and you always tell me that too many sweets equals a very bad tummy ache!” Spike said as he moved to a nearby window. “Um….Twi, did you do that?” He asked, meaning the crimson fog outside. It slowly started changing into a mist, coating Ponyville in a thin layer of crimson fluid.
“Every trade has a gain, but the cost may not be worth the loss…..”
After having a snack Twilight had decided to try and visit Rainbow Dash to see if she knew anything about the strange weather. During her walk Twilight noticed that there were very few ponies out, she counted that down as it being rather early in the morning.
When she arrived at Rainbow Dash’s house she found Rainbow Dash rushing back and forth in a panic.
“Um Dash, is something wrong?” Twilight asked.
“Yes Twilight! Everything is wrong!!!” Rainbow Dash said.
“What do you mean?” Twilight said. Dash rushed past and kept trying to dissipate the red mist.
“Dash, sit down and tell me what’s going on!” Twilight said with a tone of authority and used her magic to still dash and make her look at Twilight.
“Let go, I need to…..” Dash was saying and then saw the determined look in Twilight’s eyes. “Alright alright. Well, you know the rainbow factory in cloudsdale right? How it helps us control the weather?” Dash asked.
“Yes… But I don’t see what tha-” Dash interrupted Twilight. “This morning the rainbows vanished and the factory started making this red goopy stuff. We tried shutting down the factory but the red goopy stuff keeps coming out and its spreading all over equestria. I was designated to clean up the mess here while the pegasi back at Cloudsdale try to fix the problem, but the red mist fog thing doesn’t seem to disperse like its supposed to!” Rainbow Dash said getting panicky again.
“Just Calm down Dash. Maybe magic can help.” Twilight said, the two left, going back to Twilight’s home.
“Eyes are the windows to the soul, but what if one has no eyes……”
As Dash and Twilight made their way back to the Library, they noticed Dark clouds were forming in the sky above. Not like regular storm clouds, but something unnaturally dark. It felt as if night were descending upon Ponyville. When Twilight got back home it was only 8:17 In the morning.
“Yeah this isn’t us….” Rainbow Dash said becoming quite nervous and agitated. Her normal bravery and heroism seemed to have abandoned her at this time.
“I’m pretty sure this is something magical.” Twilight said. She didn’t seem to be affected by the same nervousness. Fretting about wouldn’t solve anything. Twilight immediately started rummaging through books. She was looking for Crimson mist and Magical Dark clouds.
Twilight came up with one thing. A very old book, almost ancient Dating back to when Discord was in power. It wasn’t about Discord though. Just many strange cases of the same incidents involving crimson mists and dark clouds…..and ponies disappearing without a trace.
This sent a shiver down Twilight’s spine. She didn’t want to lose anyone in Ponyville. She tried to read on but all she saw was vague references and a mysterious shape in the mist that looked like a pony, but wasn’t.
“Ugh. I can’t find anything about this mist. Its all very vague and mysterious.” Twilight said exasperated.
“Um…..Twi….” Dash said, the fear in her voice evident.
“What is it Dash?” Twilight looked up and out the window. It was almost pitch-black outside, the clouds had obscured the sun. A few lanterns and torches could be seen moving throughout ponyville. It was 11:00 in the morning.
“I er…think we should take a visit to Canterlot’s grand library…” Twilight said, fear creeping into her voice as well. Just as she said this a knock rapped against Twilight’s door. She looked at Dash and then cautiously reached for the door before opening it. With a sigh of relief Twilight saw Pinkiepie, Rarity, and Applejack. “Oh its you guys.” Twilight said.
“Yeah its us. We were wonderin if you knew anythin bout this here weather?” Applejack said, getting right to the point. Pinkiepie seemed surprisingly cowed by the dark atmosphere and Rarity didn’t even attempt to whine. Things were serious.
Twilight did a recount of her friends. All here…except Fluttershy. “Um…guys. Where’s Fluttershy?” Twilight asked.
“We don’t know…..we thought she might be here with you…” Applejack said, looking worried now. “We searched her house, the woods, everywhere. No sign of her…even her animals are missin.” She continued.
“well we need to find her. I need to head to Canterlot to see if I can find out more about this mess in the Grand Library.” Twilight said.
“We won’t find Fluttershy out here, when she’s afraid she is very hard to find.” Applejack said. “We might be better off helping you.” She said though in her eyes you could see that Applejack desperately wanted to keep looking for her friend.
“Alright then…..I guess off we go.” Twilight said and the group headed out. Little did Twilight realize…..Spike had also mysteriously disappeared……
“Every story has its dark parts, peer deep enough into the shadows and the horror will be revealed……”
The Grand library in canter lot seemed to be entirely unguarded. In fact, Canterlot seemed mostly deserted. The same crimson mist layered everything outside. The group of five ponies carried lanterns on saddlebags as they meandered through the aisles of books. Hours went by and by and nothing but references and vague descriptions.
As Twilight was about to give into despair, she noticed a door in the library. Above it scrawled in Ancient letters were the words “Forbidden Archives.” Tentatively, Twilight gathered her friends and opened the door. It took all five of them to push it open, using magic and muscle alike. A long dark hallway greeted them and the five all gulped before taking their first steps into the dark.
“Embrace the darkness and it will embrace you, fear no evil for there is something much worse to fear…..”
The end of the hallway ended in a large circular room. In the center was Pedestal with one book upon it. Red magical lights floated above it. The book appeared to be bound in leather, its edges were charred, but relatively the book was intact. From first glance it looked about as ancient as the book Twilight found in her library. On closer inspection, the supposed timestamp was a few years earlier from the other book. As she opened the book, she noticed it was actually a diary of a unicorn. What it revealed was troubling indeed.
“…….Discord’s rule has us working in horrible conditions for his sick amusement. We are not slaves….He has taken so much from us. Our freedom, Our World…….and most of all….. Our lives….
……He will pay for what acts he has committed. I have joined a group of ponies who feel the same way. We will do anything to have our revenge….. For all the lives he has taken
…..We have experimented on each other to try and become more powerful, but with terrible results. Often resulting in disfigurement. The cost will be worth it though. A free world will be worth the sins we commit now. History will remember us as villains, but we are heroes, I do this for you, Marigold….
……We….have delved into darker magic…..We are experimenting on our children so that they may be free….It is…..difficult to watch…….Tomorrow, my own son will be undergoing his experiment. I only hope that he will survive and will become the savior we need…..My dear dear son, Teravenn, you go unwilling, but in the end you will be free…..
………. Several weeks later in the diary………..
…..My son……that thing…….he…….he is a……..a monster……I was too eager……too eager to ensure his and his sister’s futures…….I only wanted what was best……what me and his mother dreamed for them……We face something worse then Discord……..It is of our own making……….Even now as I write this I cower in fear from my own son………He is clawing at the door……..I must stop him…….To whoever finds this…..beware of the mist…….beware of my son………I can only hope that my daughter, his sister Jade Sparkle…..is safe….. I am Greylan Sparkle……And I pay for my sins………..The red mist closes in……."
………The end of the Diary…… A dark brown-reddish substance coats half of the last page……
Twilight stood there, eyes wide. This was history……her family’s history. A part of her history she had never heard of before. Celestia had hidden this, no wonder Celestia had kept close watch over twilight’s family for so many years. Now, events were repeating that had happened many many centuries ago. Twilight only wondered why Celestia hadn’t contacted her as soon as the strange events began to happen. She then began to wonder about the Diary. It said something about a monster, but there had been no monster present yet….. Twilight began to fear the worse. The other four ponies in the room had been silent while Twilight had read aloud the diary. They were very somber as Twilight finished the dark and tragic tale.
Twilight was about to put the book in her pack when a small folded up piece of paper fell out. She picked it up and looked at it.
……Jade Sparkle. Discord has been defeated, but a greater threat had loomed. My own brother Teravenn had been transformed by desperate ponies seeking their freedom. The only way to stop him was to trap him within me. When my child is born, she will have to bear Teravenn‘s tortured soul until she too bears a child and so forth until the end of time if needs be. To those of the Sparkle family, we must keep Teravenn contained for the greater good of ponies everywhere…..I fear what would happen if he were to be free again……….

This was the most frightening information. Teravenn……this supposed creature of darkness had been trapped within the Sparkle family for centuries. Now, events that happened so many centuries before are happening now. Twilight’s analytical brain put information together. These events happened so suddenly and Spike had said that very morning that she had been sleep casting. Was it possible that she had set Teravenn free from her mind? Her mother had never told her of this before..… “We need to head back to Ponyville….” Twilight said simply as she and her friends left……heading back to their home. No one really noticed though….when pinkie pie suddenly disappeared….without a sound, without a trace, into the shadows she went……
“You reap what you sow, plant a little darkness and the darkness will be your harvest……”
Ponyville was deserted. No trace of anypony anywhere. The four remaining ponies had grown nervous when they had realized that they had lost Pinkiepie. They were now in Twilight’s library. The darkness seemed to press in all around them. Twilight was deep in thought.
“Tw-twi….” Applejack said tentatively.
“Yes, Applejack?” Twilight said, a little bit irritated at having her thoughts interrupted, but still deathly afraid.
“Well since this er…..Teravenn feller is related to you…..couldn’t you summon him or something and trap him?” Applejack suggested. But before Twilight could respond she saw her three friend’s eyes go wide with fear and their mouths opened in a scream. Twilight then feinted to blackness….
“Tic Toc, Tic Toc, Time is running short….days go by, the crows do fly, as a feast awaits them in my domain……”
Twilight’s eyes opened. She was in….nothingness. Everything was white. Two chairs occupied this empty space, one was occupied by a rather pleasant looking colt who smiled at her. He was drinking some juice with his little yellow hooves. He had a snow white mane and tail and deep blue eyes that held intelligence, fear, sadness, and anger all in one. There was something strange though. Every few seconds his image would distort for just a second as if a video were being interrupted by static.
Twilight was cautious. “Come on….take a seat…” The small colt said in a light voice. Twilight moved over at the sound of the little colt’s voice. He looked so cute and sounded so nice. “Thirsty?” He asked politely, offering his juice box.
“Um no thanks.” Twilight said.
“Okee dokey.” The colt replied, distorting briefly.
“Um where are we and who are you?” Twilight asked.
“Want to play a game?” The colt replied without responding to Twilight’s question.
“Um not-” Twilight was responding. Another distortion.
“The others didn’t want to play either……” The colt said, a low and dark voice echoed in the background. “They just worky worked all the time. Then I finally got to play with them.” The colt said.
“What did you play?” Twilight asked hesitantly.
“I don’t remember……It hurt though……” The colt said. Distortion. The colt shivered. “No……..not the…….Daddy……It burns!” The colt curls into a ball shivering and whimpering, the dark voice in the background still echoing. “Pain pain pain…….I miss my mommy…… and sissy………Nooooo!” One piercing scream and when Twilight closed her eyes the scream dissipated into nothing. She opened her eyes and the colt was gone.
A Dark and menacing rumble and a crack opened before Twilight. A tall object covered with cloth now stood before her. A note was pinned to the cloth written in a crimson fluid that Twilight didn’t even want to guess at.
……Look inside and you will see the monster……
Twilight pulled the cloth down and looked in the mirror, and screamed….Inside the mirror was a Unicorn or what was left of a unicorn…… It had been skinned from horn to hoof. Barbed wire looped in and throughout its flesh. A particular nasty piece of barbed wire was wrapped around the unicorn’s head and mouth like a bridle. The eyes…….there were none, just hollow sockets, a piece of barbed wire running into one. Blood oozed and poured from the Unicorn’s body and it mimicked Twilight’s silent scream in the mirror.
All of a sudden it stopped. Looked at Twilight and then Lunged out of the mirror at her.
“Nightmares are just bad dreams, right? Or are they the reality and the reality is the actual Nightmare?….”
Twilight woke to total darkness. She somehow knew she was back in her library home, but she was alone. It was dark and eerily quiet.
Slowly, her eyes adjusted and she realized she wasn’t in total darkness at all. A dim, eerie light shone from outside. She slowly rose to her hooves and cautiously moved to the door and gazed outside. The crimson mist had stopped but the liquid had condensed into a sort of fleshy substance. The source of the red light was near a streetlamp.
Twilight scrabbled and used her magic to find a nearby lamp. She lit it and cautiously went outside. Underneath the lamp was a drawing of the colt she had seen in her dreamlike state. Scrawled underneath the picture were two words “Help Me….”
