What a Doctor can "Do"

My name is Stan. Dr. Stan Do to be exact. I’m a veterinarian, which is the best job in the world in my opinion. You've probably heard the name before . Probably because you're thinking of my adrenaline junkie sister. That pegasi has been untamable since we were young. Our parents almost went insane because of our endless energy. I was on my way back to Canterlot after 4 years abroad to study the animals of the world. Daring would be waiting for me in Canterlot, probably to hug me and tease me, as she hadn’t been able to do so for 4 years. I saw the castle slowly appear over the horizon and I began to prep myself for the social scene, something I hadn’t participated in for 4 years. I descended onto the street and proceeded into the coffee shop Daring had wanted me to meet her at. It was busy but I was able to spot that god forsaken hat that she has worn since she was a foal. I sat down next to her and she was surprised.

“STAN!!!!!!” she yelled as she threw her arms around me.

“Good to see you too sis” I wheezed as she squeezed the life out of me.

We ordered our coffee and proceeded to converse about the various topics of our lives that had happened in the 4 years I was gone.

“So Stan, I was thinking, where are you gonna go? You’re a vet coming back from 4 years abroad and Celestia knows that gives you an upper hand on most vets.” Daring said.

“Yeah, I really hadn't thought about that at all. I was more focussed on my work.” I replied.

“Well you could talk to Fluttershy, I’m sure a vet would come in handy for her work.” Daring looked at me quizzically.

“I’m guessing she runs an animal rescue league or something like that?”  I asked her.

“Spot on! Though there would be a few setbacks. You’d have to make do with less equipment, then of course there’s Rainbow Dash...”

“Who’s she?” I looked at her suspiciously.

“A super fan of mine. If she ever found out I had an older brother she’s probably gonna milk you of every speck of information she can about me.” She told me.

“That doesn't seem like a problem, I’d be happy to tell her a lot about you!” I joked

“By Celestia if you tell her about....” I cut her off before she could finish.

“Don’t worry, I’m only joking! Take a chill-pill dude”

“Alright, you better get a good nights sleep, you’ve got a big day tomorrow!” Daring said as she finished her coffee.

“See you tomorrow sis” I said as we parted ways.

I checked into my hotel for the night and had the best sleep in 4 years on that cloud bed.

The next morning I woke up and met Daring at the same coffee shop from the previous day. After finishing our coffee, we took off for Ponyville. My degrees and supplies in tow. The tree shaped castle was the first glimpse I got of my new home. We set down in front of the castle.

“What are we doing here?” I asked Daring.

“We need to introduce you to the Princess” She said nonchalantly.

My jaw dropped and my eyes bugged out.

“PRINCESS? YOU NEVER TOLD ME ABOUT MEETING A PRINCESS!” I yelled at her.

She never got the chance to reply as our presence had definitely been noticed. The front door of the castle swung open to reveal a purple dragon looking up at me, then my sister. He seemed to recognize my sister and called for someone. A purple alicorn appeared in the doorway. I bowed before her, looking up and I see that Daring was not bowing. What was going on?

“Good day your highness, My name is Dr. Stanley Do, I am a veterinarian who has recently returned from studying abroad. I would be honored to work in your kingdom.” I said.

“I appreciate the formality, but it’s not needed. Welcome to Ponyville Dr. Do. My name is Twilight Sparkle.” the alicorn said to me.

“I was thinking my brother could work with Fluttershy and help her out.” Daring asked Twilight. “She could use the expertise of a full-time vet. I know she’s pretty good, but nothing beats the real thing.”

“That actually sounds like a good idea, Fluttershy’s house is on the edge of the Everfree Forest. You should introduce yourself, I’ll accompany you as she isn’t a fan of meeting new people.” Twilight said to me.

“I, um, ok.” I stuttered, still flabbergasted that I was talking to a princess.

Daring said goodbye and flew back home to either plan her next tri[p or work on her next

book. Then me and Twilight (she refused to have me call her “princess”) set off for the edge of the Everfree Forest. On the edge we found a quaint little cottage. This must be the place. Twilight knocked on the door 3 times. No answer. She tried again. This time the door opened and a yellow pegasus answered the door. Her eyes first falling on Twilight, then me. She makes a sound like ‘eep’ before shutting the door. I look at Twilight as she rolled her eyes.

“This happens every time I introduce her to someone.” she muttered

Twilight let herself in this time without knocking.

“Fluttershy! I came to introduce you to a new comer. He says he could help out with the animal rescue league!”  Twilight yelled up the stairs

I saw a set of eyes and then the rest of her body appeared and came down the stairs. She still seemed a little apprehensive, so I tried to lighten the mood.

“Hi, my name is Dr. Stanley Do. I’m a veterinarian and I heard you needed some help caring for injured animals?” I said. I needed to say no more as her eyes lit up like the Summer Sun Celebration.

“Oh wow. this is fantastic. I've needed someone like you for a while but no one has come around with enough skill to handle the job.” Fluttershy said. “You can stay here with me until you buy a house for yourself. It’s an honor to work with you Dr. Do.” She shook my hoof.

“LIkewise” I replied.

“Your name does ring a bell though, Do, where have I heard that before...” Fluttershy thought out loud.

“I believe you’re thinking of his little sister Daring Do.”

I had almost forgotten Twilight Sparkle was still there.

“Your sister is Daring Do, the Daring Do?” Fluttershy said with amazement.

“Yep” I reply.

“I wonder what will happen when Rainbow Dash finds out who you are?” Fluttershy thought out load again.

“I think that Dr. Stan here will be in for one hell of a question session when that happens” Twilight Reminisized.
