Honorary Sister

"And that's the entire human anatomy!" You finally finish telling Rainbow about human bodies.

"Do I really have to remember all of it? It's too confusing. Like seriously, how many types of fingers are there? Come on!" Dash groans.

"Well you have to know at least half! Do you want me to go over this again, Rainbow?"

"NO! I mean, uh nah, I'm good." She hastily covers her slip.

You laugh but there's one question on your mind that's really bugging you: how's Rainbow going to get home? You know that in a bunch of fanfics that you read, Twilight and friends come to get her but this isn't a fic, it's real life!

"Rainbow," you begin, "how are you going to get back home? How did you even get here?"

She looks cute sitting on your couch pondering that question. Not cute that way but in the way that reminds you of your sister.

"I was flying, like SUPER fast, not watching where I was going and I ended up crashing into something. When I opened my eyes, I was sitting on the ground in your front yard in this weirdo body. Then I pressed that funny little button that looks and sounds a bit like a doorbell because I thought pressing it would take me home."

"Do you know what you crashed into?", was your immediate reaction.

Rainbow shakes her head, "All I know is that it hurt my head REALLY badly. It's still sore right now!" She yawns and touches her temple gingerly.

Seeing her yawn, you ask her if she's tired.

"Yeah, it's been a pretty strange day today."

"You want dinner first, Rainbow?"

She nods. You lead her to the kitchen and hand her two muffins for the sake of her pony-diet. She gobbles them up as fast as she can.

"Hey Adrianna," she says.

"Hmm?"

"Could you get me some water?"

You look over and see muffin crumbs all over her face.

"You'll probably need some!" You head over to the counter and pour her a glass of water, then put the glass in front of her but she just sits there staring at it.

"A little help...?" She trails off motioning towards the water.

"Right! Hands!" You show Dash how to hold a cup with hands and she mimics your movement.

After she finishes off her water, she yawns again. Realizing it's time for bed, you show her upstairs to the guest room.

"Eh... You're going to need pyjamas." You rummage around in an old suitcase full of outgrown clothes for some size 10 pjs.

Rainbow looks puzzled. "Why do I need pyjamas? We never wore pyjamas back home! On the other hoo-HAND, we never wore anything back home! Except for that one unicorn who's always going on about her 'coiffure' and how nice I'd look if I combed my hair in the morning."

"It's just something we do here." You put it simply. "Aha! Perfect!" With a flourish, you pull out a white t-shirt and a red pair of flannel pants. "Here, put these on. But first take off your other clothes."

You turn around to see that Rainbow's just sitting on the bed.

"What's up? Something wrong?"

She shrugs, "Nah, I just miss Ponyville. Y'know, everypony's, well, a pony. I've only been gone not even a day and I'm already thinking these sappy thoughts! UGHHHH!"

"Oh you'll be fine. You're a tough filly-girl. You'll survive!" You reassure her.

She smiles, "Thanks. Ok, so I just put these on?"

"Yeah, but I'm not supposed to be here while your changing, it's a thing we have here." The door closes behind you.

Rainbow Dash is in your guest room, sleeping. Or you think she is. While your scrolling through your DeviantArt account, she's really tossing and turning, not able to fall asleep.

Thump. Thump. Thump.. You turn, and see Dash coming down the stairs.

You raise an eyebrow. "Whatcha doing?"

"Adrianna" she starts, "I-I couldn't sleep."

Rainbow, stuttering? You look at her in a concerned manner. "You can't tell anyone this but..."She continues. You tilt your head in confusion. "... My mom used to tuck me in before bed. It helps me fall asleep. C-could you do that f-for me? Just until I get back home?"

You're surprised. The Rainbow Dash, self-proclaimed fastest flyer in all of Equestria, asking you to tuck her in? Well then.

"Omigosh! Is that me?!" She suddenly squeals, pointing at an image on your DeviantArt page. It was of a cyan mare with a rainbow mane smiling at a light blue stallion sporting navy hair.

You smile at her, "Yes Rainbow, that's you. It's the first picture I posted on this site."

"Who's that?"You could tell she didn't hear a single word that just came out of your mouth, instead focusing on the stallion beside her.

"That's Soarin. You know, the Wonderbolt? I used to ship you two. And to be honest, I still do.That means I think you guys should be together."

"Ewwwwww!" She complains. "Can we go to bed now? I'm tired."

As an answer, you grab her wrist and pull her up the stairs. Once in her room, you tuck her in bed and kiss her forehead. You sit beside her until she falls asleep.

You get up and leave, whispering a quiet goodnight.
