a storm and a new guest (REVISED AND REDITED)
Coraline sat down in the large black loveseat in her home's library, feeling the soft material ease her sore legs. The cause for her legs being so sore was the fault of her sister-in-law bringing the kids over to play, and upon leaving made a huge ass mess for the writer to clean up. She flicked on the lamp next to her on a little side table, she then picked up her notebook, which was filled with ideas and small exerts from books she had yet to write. Just as she unclipped the pencil lodged into the bindings of the notebook a large KRACKOOM! filled her home as rain started to pour down, or at least that's what it looked like from her view through the bay window. The thunder subsided for almost half an hour until an even louder KRAKOOOM!! sounded out causing Coraline to shout
"DAMN-FUCKING-NATION! Can't this storm not be a pain in the god damn ass?!"
She noted that, that lighting bolt may have landed in her backyard, from the amount of sound, and how close it seemed. Coraline sighed and put her notebook back on the side table, pausing for a few seconds before going out the library door to the bay window to see the damage. She couldn't see any damage done to the yard but she saw almost made her shit her pants.
There was a dark, unmoving shape laying in the grass.
"Holy fucking SHIET!" Coraline said to no one as she ran down the hallway to the closet, where she pulled out her rain boots, a hoodie, and a large towel that she kept there for emergencies in case there was ever a large spill or rain got inside, but now it would be used to help whatever was out there.
As she toward the back door another lightning strike sounded off in the distance, reassuring her that she would have know more unexpected guests. As she steeped outside she cursed herself for not wearing more layers on this cold November night. The wind cut through the twenty nine year olds body, make her wince and shudder with every step. As she approached the unmoving creature laying, almost peacefully in the grass, she slowed her steps until she was barely even moving. She wanted to help whatever it is, but she was worried that it might attack her.
Gathering what little courage she had left, she walked toward the dark shape. Although it was dark outside and she really should have brought a flashlight with her, Coraline could see that the creature was equine-like, though she had never seen an equine with a horn or wings either. It also seemed to be wearing a toe of armor that was made out of a dark metal, peering closer at the creature body she saw that it had a long gash in it's shoulder, along many cuts and bruises, many of them bleeding heavily.
"Oh my god, what the hell?!" Coraline asked no one. Her mind was reeling in confusion and a bit of fear, how could someone do this to what seemed to be a harmless creature? After a bit of struggle, she finally managed to get towel under the equine. Picking it up and bringing it to the house was actually easy, since it was quite light, and easy to transport into her kitchen. After laying the creature down on the floor, she stumbled to the light switch, flicking it on with the tip of her index finger. When she turned around, she could barely register what she was looking at.
For the most part it was an equine, the armor and wounds were real, its mane struck Coraline by surprise, since it looked like the night sky stars and all. But the most surprising fact, aside from the horn and wings, was the strange crescent moon tattooed on it's ass. It was also a dark dark blue, very close to black. After fetching a first aid kit from the cabinet, she proceeded in cleaning and dressing the poor things wounds, along with studying it. Out of all the damage, it's wings must have taken the most, most of the feathers were singed or clipped so it wouldn't be able to fly, even if it could. Coraline then pressed to of her fingers against it's neck to look for a pulse. Only to jerk her hand back a few seconds later.
It had moved
Calming herself into mot screaming and having a panic attack, Coraline reasoned that it was just going to wake up soon. She was about to turn around and hide in her room when she heard the creature's stomach growl. Not really knowing what the hell equine eat, she just chopped up some fruit and set it down on a plate in front of it, along with a bowl of water. Before entering her room down the hall, she took another look at this creature.
And managed to hide before it's head swiveled in her direction upon waking.
She poked her head ever so slightly out of the doorway and watched the creature with a sudden interest, and slight fear, of what it was going to do. What the did surprised Coraline to a large extent, instead of trying to find her, explore it's new place of being, or even try to move, it just whimpered a bit- which told Coraline that the creature was a she from the pitch of the whimper-and started to cry, small quiet sobs that almost made Coraline to go and comfort her.
Well almost, there was a small part in her mind that told her to get it the fuck together, and that she could be dangerous. Coraline continued to watch her for the next hour, watching how she had continued crying for at least a solid ten minutes before her tears dried up, then noticing the plate of food and water looked around as if to find who had shown her some kindness- to which Coraline hid again-, to then eating a little bit of the fruit and drinking some of the water- which surprised Coraline because her horn lit up and levitated bits of fruit and the bowl of water, until she finally laid her head on the towel and fell asleep. Coraline slowly steeped out of her hiding place with a blanket in her hand for the equine, it was going to be a cold night. The equine seemed to relax when the thick blanket was pulled over her, but before retiring to her room to rest for the night, she ripped a piece of paper from an old shopping list on her fridge and wrote-feeling rather foolish, because there was no way this thing could understand English or even read-
Dear miss,
I welcome you to my humble home.
Could you please tell my your name, if you have one?
If you need anything I will try to fulfill your request.
Coraline Evans
Although the note reminded her of a hoity toity hotel, it would help her gather more information on her new houseguest. After putting the note next to the plate of fruit, Coraline went back to her room and climbed into her bed, ready for a sleepless night.

Nightmare Moon opened her eyes slowly, studying the room she was in, up until that moment she had forgotten about what had happened o her after her defeat by the elements of harmony. Glancing around at the room around her, she noticed a small piece of paper near the bowl of water. Levitating it in her telekinesis, her dragon like eyes could read it perfectly well in pitch black darkness that was punctuated by the full moon. Tears started to steam down her cheeks after reading it, feeling utmost gratitude for whoever had taken as monster like her into their home. Choking back a sob, she raised herself to her hooves, wincing in pain from the gash that had been torn in her shoulder by a large shard of the decaying castle window.
As she followed the sound of heavy breathing to a room down the hallway, she wondered what had brought her here, and where she was. She wasn't in equestria anymore, she could tell by the strange objects in the kitchen and the hallway. She remembered few details from being brought in, except that the voice had sounded feminine. The breathing lead her to a large bedroom, as she stepped toward the bed, her hoofsteps muffled by the carpet, her rescuer had seemed to stiffen, almost as if she was pretending to be asleep.
Moonlight that had shone into the room illuminated the young woman's features, coal black hair as dark as Nightmare's coat, pale skin like the moon, facial features that seemed doll like. Nightmare Moon new what kind of creature she was, it was called a human, and legend said used to thrive in equestria until that blasted fool Discord, had obliterated them into extinction. Nightmare Moon was so curious about how the humans had their own world when she remembered what she had originally planned to do. She leaned closer to the young woman's head and whispered softly in her ear,
"We thank thee for letting us stay in thy humble home. "
And left, although she thought that there was a slight smile on the human's face.
Back in the kitchen Nightmare Moon opened and studied her now useless wings, in hope that she may one day be able to feel the joyous sensation of flying once again. But it was no use, even her magic was to weak to even conjure up a heeling spell. Sighing she took the note once again in her telekinesis, along with a pencil and wrote out a simple not to address the human, who called herself "Coraline", a very strange sounding name in Nightmare's thoughts. As she finished writing the note she could she that the sun was slowly rising in the horizon, and tucked her head under her wings to shield herself from the sun and feel into a deep and troubled sleep.

Coraline stirred in her bed, tossing and turning while her mind churned with theories and discombobulated thoughts. Her new houseguest was a sentient, talking alicorn pony.
Alright, I'm either going to wake up from this strange ass dream and throw about the vodka, or shit just got fucking real.
Coraline walked down the hallway from her bedroom to the kitchen, yawning with such gusto that people found strange from coming from such a tiny woman. When she finally reached said kitchen she saw her houseguest sleeping form on the floor, and noticed her note on the floor and bent down to pick it up, and noticed that something had been written on it and it was addressed to her.
Dear mistress Coraline,
We thank thee for letting a monster like us in thy humblest of homes. We shall try not to burden you with our presence. As for our name, we . . . used to have one that was not fitting.
Coraline's mind filled with question as her face blended into a look of concern and confusion, why did her guest think herself to be a monster(?). And it did seem strange that she didn't have a name. Before she decided to make herself and her guest breakfast, she retrieved the med kit from the cabinet and attended to her guests wounds. After finishing up and putting the med kit back in place, she picked up a piece of armor that she had been on the alicorn's body, and started to study the curve and metals of the chest piece she was currently holding, raking in the craftsmanship of it.
After zoning out for a few moments, Coraline put the helmet down and began preparing breakfast and coffee for herself and her guest. Speaking of her guest, she needed a name, everyone had the right to have a name, and such right to change it if the person or equine didn't like it. Hhm, maybe she could let me give her a name? Yeah right Cora, as if an alicorn is going to let a person she just met, to give her a name. Coraline thought to herself as she tore another strip of paper off another old shopping list.
May I give you a new name, everyone deserves to have a name dear, even you,
Also, why do you think your a monster? You seem quite kind to me.
Coraline wrote, hoping that it would give her some answers to the many questions floating around in her mind. After a pleasant breakfast and a scalding hot shower, Coraline made her way to the library, feeling every worn bump and crack in bedded into the old flooring of her Victorian home. Entering the library returned her to her childhood, reminding her of the countless hours spending in local libraries, pouring over almost every book, trying to gain the knowledge of that the authors had shared throughout the world. Usually, she would head straight for her favorite chair and get started on another chapter of the book she was writing, but today she had different plans and headed over toward the second shelf that was closest to the door.
She reached up and plucked a worn blue book off the shelf, the tittle flashing a brilliant gold, Baby Names for new Mothers . Now Coraline wasn't a mother, she couldn't, she was one of those people who spent way to much time with work. But she had saved this from her childhood and let her brother borrow it when he had announced to her that he and his wife were having a baby. Instead of starting at the very beginning, Coraline flipped to a specific page she had book marked. The page had her name on it, along with a meaning that said: Coraline, meaning smart and mysterious, a diamond in the rough. Coraline smiled at the thought of her parents going through this very book and picking it just for her, and now she was doing the same thing, but for someone she had barely just met.
Coraline flipped back to the front of the book and sat herself down in her chair, eyes analyzing every name and meaning, looking for the one that would fit. To Coraline, names had a specific meaning that should fit there person right like a favorite pair of jeans, or like a new jacket that feels like it was made just for you. For the next fifteen minutes she flipped through the A's until one caught her eye. Aurora, meaning gentle one, new beginnings, new life.
"It's perfect! She needs a new start and should start it off with a new name, she'll love it." Coraline said to herself excitedly, although in the back of her mind she pondered why she was so excited, this wasn't like choosing a name for your own child, and nor was her guest a child, actually, now that she was really, thinking about this, why in the hell was she excited? She was acting as if she was a new mother, and mother she was not, but still, she got this sort of . . . happy feeling, not quite like the love of a partner, but more like,
The love of a sister.
Alright Cora, you know what's wrong, you just got a little over excited for no reason. she thought to her self as she put down the name book and picked up her notebook, and started back where she left of in her latest book.
