-chapter one-

It was a warm summer day in Ponyville, the birds were chirping and the bees were buzzing. as beautiful as it seemed to be to some ponies, to the dismay of one Laidback cyan mare, they woke her from her afternoon slumber.
"Hey?! What the heck!!"
Shouted an annoyed Rainbow Dash as she opened her eyes to find several bees flying around her head. She scowled and tried to swat them away when suddenly, the tree branch she had rested upon snapped.
She almost crashed face first into the ground below but luckily for her she had spread her wings, flying just a few inches from the ground that could have possibly rearranged her face. She sighed and landed softly on the ground, whipping her multicolored bangs from her eyes.
"Are you okay, Dashie?"
Rainbow whipped her head around to see none other than her childhood friend Flutter shy. She stood there with her hooves crossed, grinning sheepishly. Rainbow smiled nervously, putting up the usual tough front.
"Yeah I'm cool, you know I always got it under control Flutters…heh..uh how long were you there, anyway?"
Fluttershy blushed a bit, feeling embarrassed.
"Well um..just long enough to see you could've been hurt."
She trotted toward Rainbow and gently swatted some leaves from her unkempt mane. Rainbow blushed as well and lowered her head, smiling.
"Hey, you know I'm tough.."
She chuckled and looked up to meet Flutter shy's bluish green eyes, almost getting lost in her sympathetic gaze.
That was Flutter shy, Rainbow thought to herself, always concerned for others, so selfless and kind. It was something she'd always admired.
"If you say so, Dashie."
Flutter shy teased with a warm smile, starting to chuckle a bit herself.

"So what brings you out here? Not enough work to do at your little zoo?"
Rainbow asked with a raised brow."
"Well, I was just going to head to the market and pick up some fresh vegetables for Angel, you know how picky he gets with his meals."
Rainbow rolled her eyes.
"That little brat."
Flutter shy stuck out her bottom lip and frowned a bit.
"H-hey you take that back! He's my little baby…"
Rainbow laughed and pinched her cheeks.
"Okay, okay. I'm sorry."
Flutter shy couldn't help but crack a smile.
"I forgive you. So would you like to come along with me?"
Rainbow put a hoof to her chin and thought for a bit.
"You know I'd love to but, I made plans today, Spit Fire's in town for the best young flyers competition and I haven't seen her since I was at the academy."
"Oh…it's that time of year already?"
Flutter shy asked, attempting to suppress a frown. She lowered her ears like a sad puppy and lowered her gaze, avoiding a glimpse at Rainbow. She put a hoof on her shoulder, smiling warmly.
"I won't be long, okay? I'll come hang with ya later, if you'll have me.."
Her ears perked back up in an instant. The thought of it melted her heart.
"O-okay, well, I hope you have a good time."
Rainbow nodded and gave her a quick hug.
"Sure will!"
And with that, she gained height off the ground and vanished into the clouds.
