Twilight Sparkle sat up abruptly, like a bad dream had eaten at her poor thoughts while she slept. Her chest heaved in and out slowly, her breathe slow and labored. That story, she had always heard it from her father when she was little, a filly's dream and nothing more. Slowly she layed back down, Spike rustling and looking over at Twilight's bed.
"You ok Twilight?" His voice was groggy and dead, his body just awake long enough to ask her.
"Yeah...I just had a dream about my real mom..." Her voice was shakey and gently preturbed.
"Real mom?"
"Yeah..."
"What was she like?"
"She's perfect..." There was a ting of shakiness in her sound, as if she was abour to cry. No tears emerged from behind her eyelids though, Twilight dare not wake herself and ruin a good night of sleep. Well, if she could get one that is. With a heavy sigh she listened to Spike's tiny snores and babbles before dozing off herself. The second sleep brought about no dreams, only peace and pure darkness. It was a good deep sleep, not even the morning sun awoke her.
"Twilight?"
The voice was distant and echoed, like a tunnel had been placed between her ears and the speaker. With a heavy sigh she pulled herself from the warm tendrils of sleep, her eyelids fighting to stay open.
"Twilight?? You okay?"
"Ofcourse Iam ssspike why would I," she paused for a yawn," be?" Twilight's voice was groggy and slow, like her mouth couldn't keep up with her brain. She opened her eyes lazily, her hair over her face in a frizzy mess.
"It's noon...you never sleep past noon..."
The purple mare's eyes shot open an she so suddenly leapt from her bed. She was a hayday mess of rambling and trying to get ready. Spike suddenly became a mass of scales and spikes in the corner of the room, he dare not get under her hooves again.
Pony hooves, as he found out, hurt like crazy. Even if manicured like Rarity's they had a particular hardness when used in motion, it wasn't pleasant to be stepped on. He always wondered why they clipped their fetlocks, Big Mac's always left a cushion of sorts when he stepped on spike, to be fair sometimes Big Mac got so enthralled with work he would step on Applejack's hooves and ankles. Once he even ran over poor Applebloom with the plow, Spike recalled it was a big incident with no injuries. His train of thought was broken by magic lifting him to Twilight's back.
"What's the big rush Twiley? It's Sunday?"
"I was supposed to help Rarity at the boutique! She wanted me to model dresses for a client!" Her heavy galloping caused her voice to change octives on each downbeat, her sentence half heard by Spike. He got the idea though, running his hands through his spikes and adjusting a few scales on his chestplates.
Rarity was in no mood for this today, first the sapphires then Sweetie Belle and now Twilight Sparkle? She had layed herself across her fainting couch for a moment of rest. Her frustrations were getting the best of her, she needed to stand up and buck up if she wanted to impress Sapphire Shores again. She was about to whine when Twilight burst through her front door blabbering and apologizing while Spike stared at her longingly. She was in a moment of passiveness, a hoof coming down gently on Twilight's shoulder to reassure her she was ok with this.
The day would go smoothly, Twilight Sparkle modeling every dress and fashion that Rarity forced on her. She had, as Rarity put it, a 'Canterlot body' that was just perfect for her fashions. As the night drolled on and Sapphire Shores did paperwork with Rarity over designs Twilight Sparkle was left to sit in the back to fight with a corseted saddle that she could barely get untied. She would ask Spike but he was too busy being the object of Sapphire Shores affections over his scales. Rarity surprised the mare, causing her to yelp and trip over herself.
"Oh dear! I'm so sorry Twilight, I do hope I didn't scare you too badly!? "
