Resurrection or a Second Chance?
Twilight moved up to the gates of Canterlot's castle, the familiar sights not only being a welcome sight, but her own big brother, Shining Armor, met her just inside the gate.
"Twily!"
"Brother!"
Thet wo hugged and Shining Armor put a hoof on Twilight's head, razzling her hair.
"I'm guessing you're hear to meet the Royal Sisters?", shining Armor asked.
"If you mean Celestia and Luna, then yes. Then again. Are there any other Royal Sisters?", Twilight joked.
"Last time I checked, no. Why don't you follow me. And, I have something special after the meeting for you. But it depends on the result of the conference."
"Well, keep it a surprise. I feel like being surprised."
"Ok then, my lips are sealed, you will not see the surprise till after."
"Do you...Promise?", Twilight teased.
"Yes I...Oh, I see what you're doing. Heheh, Sorry, but I don't make Pinkie Pie promises. Nor do I embarrass myself by acting a child in front of the Royal Guard."
"Oh come on! Everyone who keeps a strong promise always makes a Pinkie Pie promise."
"You just want me to look funny don't you?"
"Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease?", Twilight begged, putting on her best puppy dog eyes.
"Oh alright. Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye."
He did the promise, putting his hoof over one eye.
Twilight giggled, setting off a few guards, but as Shining Armor turned to look, none of them had moved. Or as he saw. Their expertise in the art of standing like a statue really paid off. All laughter, was come from the opposite direction he was looking.
"Ok, guys. Thats enough. Run along now, Twily. Wouldn't want you to miss this."
"Ok, Tell Cadence I said hi!"
Twilight galloped off away from the laughing origins of the event, and soon made it to the throne room without a second to be late.
"Ah, Twilight Sprakle, My most faithful student. Come in, have a seat.", Celestia motioned with her wing to a cushion which had been set in front of two larger ones.
Luna Dismissed the guards with a nod and, along with Celestia, laid on the cushion meant for her slightly smaller body. Celestia's horn glowed, setting the silence spell around them, should someone need to rush in for any emergency.
"Twilight, it's been a few...months since your last report.", Celestia began conversation.
"Oh, sorry, but it's been really slow lately. I am learning very few things about friendship anymore, if you ask me."
"Well, thats why your here. Your lack of letters to me, regarding friendship, and what you ahve learned, have thinned out, worrying me. Is there something going on in your life?"
"Every day, if you ask me personally. But in reality, not much at all is happening. I've read every book in that library, No one comes around much any more, and above all, not many events of a crisis or fun have been happening in Ponyville lately."
"Well, then, I would like to maek a proposal. I have a solution to this, and, well, you really have a yes and no choice, but I see you as the only one to bare this new burden."
"Burden?"
"I'm talking of Nightmare Moon."
"But, wouldn't that be Luna herself?"
"This is much mroe complicated. You see, Nightmare moon had a separate conscience from Luna. In fact, Luna created Nightmare Moon, but not just her personality. She shared a body with another soul."
Twiligth was confused to an extreme measure now.
"...What?", Twilight asked.
"In short, Luna gave birth to another alicorn. But it wasn't actual birth, but a much mroe...complicated way of saying it."
"So what do I have with carrying the burden of Nightmare Moon with me?"
"You will literally carry Nightmare Moon with you, but in a much simpler way. You know of the natural cycle ponies go through to create another generation, right?"
"If you mean children, then yes."
"Good. Saves the awkwardness of explaining this next part. Luna, When shed of the soul's intentions, still held a second soul. In the day, she'd walk around sometimes, even give me a few angry glares. Other times, she'd make supernovas go off int eh stars abnove, messing up the constellations. It got a little out of hand after."
"So, she has two souls in her body right now?"
"Well, not anymore. I removed the second, Nightmare Moon's. I hold it next to mine."
"Why?"
"So I can easily pass it on. I have to act quickly though, because it really is a burden. Now, Twilight. I ask you the question of would you give care to birth a child in teh future?"
"Yes. why do you ask?"
"Under what conditions? Would you rather be with a stallion, or rather concieve it through magical purposes like most single mare unicorns who wish to start a family?"
"Well, either way would be fine...But I'm not ready fro a relationship."
"Twilight Sparkle, as my last question of this evening, would you carry the burden which is giving birth to Nightmare Moon?"
Twilight's jaw dropped. If any sounds left her head, Celestia could hear her mind short circuit.
"Twilight? Twilight~."
"Will she be ok, Tia?", Luna asked.
"Oh, she will. Give it a few seconds and..."
"Celestia...What exactly is in your head?", Twilight asked.
"Pardon?"
"What is in your head? A brain or a machine? Cause you are thinking very mechanically."
It was Celestia's turn to be shocked.
"Well, it's...disrespectful...But, I can see why you'd react so. Twilight, I only ask you to bare Nightmare Moon as your child, so to give her a second chance at having a better life. If you don't want ot, you don't have to."
There was a moment of silence for a while, several minutes having passed without a single word being said.
"I will. I will..."
"Give birth to Nightmare Moon."
"It sounds...naughty."
"Don't think of it that way, please. Makes everyone feel dirty. Luna had a hard time this morning with...the events that were required to remove Nightmare Moon's soul. Do keep this a secret, Twilight. No one shall know of this...personal endeavor. Luna still hasn't recovered from the event three days ago. So for now, please do not tell anyone."
"Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye.", Twilight said, putting a hoof over her eye in coordination to the chant.
"Thank you. But I am even mroe on edge with having to give you Nightmare Moon's soul. Are you ready?"
"Princess, I...as your faithful student...", Twilight took a deep breath, "Will always be ready.", She finished with a smile.
Celestia chuckled, but as realization struck her, she looked at Twilight's proud pose.
"Are you sure you wish to do this? I mean, your barely a full grown mare. You've got a good two years ahead of you before you should even be thinking of a family."
Twilight, seeing Celestia's point, dropped her smile.
"Ig uess you're right. But...There is no going back. I mean, I have taken care of spike by myself for a while now, as well as for the years when I was still a filly in your School for Magiclly Gifted Unicorns. I think I can take care of another."
"Well, If you say so."
Celestia's horn glowed as she used her magic to cast the spell designated, and Luna, on cue, put Twilight to sleep.
"Why do I need to put her to sleep again?", Luna asked.
"To dampen the pain...It was...the most horrible thing to feel. The pain of accepting Her soul next to mine felt like a dagger had been plunged deep into my chest and twisted with powerful jerks of the handle. It was agony. I...just don't wish for her to feel that much. Even though she will give birth to Her, I won't take chances. It's conversin magic."
Celestia began the spell, pulling the bright, tiny ball of light from her chest and holding it in the air. Celestia gave a few pants, having held atleast a small scream from escaping her andmaking her look very unprofessional. It may have been from an evil mare, yet the light was warm, forgiving to them. Clestia's magic faultered and she nearly allowed it to grow into Nightmare Moon once more, but as a shade. Though, taking precautions, she held her will to keep it bottle. But there was still a flicker in it's brightness.
Using mroe magic, Celestia dimmed the light and encased t in a red mass, phasing it into Twilight's lower stomach. The light now inside her glowed brightl once mroe then dimmed as it took effect of it's new natural process and course.
