The Great Divide of Equestria

The rumbling started to turn violent. Screams were heard from every direction as cracks started to appear in Twilight Sparkle’s walls, the rush and panic separate all of the elements of harmony from each other.

‘MY LOVE!’ Rainbow Dash blurted out across the room to Fluttershy, whom was on the brink of crying at this point.

‘Your what now?!’ Applejack replied in a concerned manner.

‘It’s a long story, but I can’t really discuss it right now because WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!’

‘Oh yeah, ha ha. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!’

There was an enormous split in the castle floor, a few of the weaker ponies fell in and perished, but besides this, Rainbow Dash charged forward, she had to get to Fluttershy and comfort her.

The crack in the floor now was about a few inches across, and a violet light radiated from it. Rainbow took a leap across, and she landed it with a bit of a slip (as the ground was still rumbling). She galloped aggressively through the sea of ponies, it was a strain.

There she was, squashed between 2 ponies that were screaming down her ears, Fluttershy sat in a state of panic. Rainbow pounced onto her and they hugged for a few short seconds.

Rainbow felt a patch of blood on Fluttershy, she mostly ignored it, but when she applied pressure, Fluttershy winced in pain.

Then they heard Twilight shout:

‘HEY! AS QUITE CUTE AS THAT MAY SEEM, WE NEED TO ALL COLLECT OVER ON THIS SIDE!!’

It’s seems she’s brought Rarity, Applejack and Pinkie Pie to one big huddle.

The two of them stood up, Rainbow clutching onto Fluttershy with her right wing, they slowly started walking to the edge.

‘C’mon Sweetie Belle, you’ve got to jump!’ Scootaloo bellowed to the bewildered Sweetie Belle, shaking on the other side of the crack, now almost a metre in width.

‘I can’t, it’s too far!’ She cried.

‘Please, you’ve got to! Everypony else is coming onto this side too!’ Apple Bloom joined in.

‘There’s no chance, I’ll fall down there!’ Sweetie started hyperventilating.

Meanwhile, Twilight was getting worried; Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy wouldn’t be able to make it in time.

‘Pinkie, go and help getting Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy over here.’ Twilight told Pinkie

‘You got it, Princess!’ Pinkie replied, jumping over the gap in a flash, Sweetie Belle watching in awe.

‘If Pinkie Pie can do it, surely you can!’ Scootaloo was getting annoyed, why wouldn’t Sweetie jump?

Suddenly, the rumbling intensified, then, out of nowhere, the two sides started to part further and further at lightning quick speeds. It only took about a minute before they were a good kilometre away from each other.

Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Sweetie Belle were trapped on one side of the gorge, with another Pegasus that was relatively new to Ponyville.

‘Don’t worry guys, I’m coming!’ He declared, taking off and flying over the valley. He started to struggle as he got to around the halfway point, because something was tugging at the Pegasus. Nothing physical, but he was getting dragged down by something. His body gave in as it elongated and was sucked into the ground.

As the remains of the pony completely vanished, Pinkie looked over the edge of the cliff. There was some kind of black hole, covered with a mostly violet hue, but with a reminiscent of
all the colours of the rainbow in there too. It was morbidly beautiful.

Pinkie finally had the time to observe what was around her. The sky itself seemed to have split alongside the ground, leaving a never-ending spiral turning in the clouds. The sun and the moon also seem to have split onto each side; unfortunately the side that Pinkie was on was the night time side. The moon surprisingly enough looked beautiful amidst all of the madness.

‘It seems to me that we’re on the east side of Equestria, I learnt about it in school.’ Sweetie Belle piped up, her voice was rather shaky in tone, so Pinkie went to comfort her.

‘Hey, hey, what’s the matter?’ She asked in a rhetorical manner

‘I won’t be able to see Apple Bloom or Scootaloo anymore, will I? They’re on the other side of the valley.’ Sweetie replied, tears in her eyes.

‘Us four,’ Pinkie looked at Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash, who were (not surprisingly) snuggling. ‘will get to the other side of whatever the heck that is and reunite our friends!’

‘Really?!’

‘Would I lie to you?’

The two of them hugged, it was now Pinkie’s mission to reunite all of the elements of harmony and stop this travesty.

A coughing sound was heard underneath the rubble. Rainbow Dash inspected the area. There was a pony trapped underneath a giant stone slab.

Rainbow, with all of her strength, pushed away the slab. Princess Luna was lay there, injured, but still conscious.

‘Woah, Princess, you alright?’ Rainbow asked.

Luna stumbled to her feet and spoke a little slower than her already slow speech. ‘Yes, I am fine, a little wounded, but fine nonetheless.’

Fluttershy sounded rather concerned. ‘Are you sure? You don’t look too good…’

Pinkie butted in ‘Listen, gang, it seems that the 5 of us have been isolated from the rest of Equestria, so we must reunite ourselves with the rest of Ponyvile and stop this crazy mess once and for all!’

‘I second that,’ Rainbow agreed. ‘but how in Celestia’s name are we supposed to do that? The valley, you know, sucks up anypony that tries to cross it.’

‘Well,’ Luna piped up ‘this doesn’t seem to be any kind of magic I know, not even dark magic. It must be beyond the power of any great wizard. I’d suggest going to the Canterlot archives and finding anything that resembles this split that has occurred.’

‘Don’t you want to come with us, Princess?’ Sweetie Belle asked politely.

‘I would love to, but I should tend to any injured ponies in the area. However, I can think of someone to go in my place…’
