Being the only bat pony in Ponyville is not a fun thing to experience, and Nightingale knows that better than anypony. Abandoned as a foal in Ponyville, she receives constant torment at the town orphanage, the local school, and just about everywhere she goes. Her only saving grace is Ponyville's librarian and Princess Celestia's star student, Twilight Sparkle, who everyday tries to teach her the magic of friendship, despite Nightingale's doubtfulness that such a world can exist. Until one day, Nightingale finds an empire of ponies just like her, the resentment they all have against the so-called "Daywalkers, and their plans to get rid of them once and for all.
