Password: Broken Heart

Night Strike was a colt who hadn't been to school yet.  He was far too young.  His mother passed not long ago and his father was a soldier.  He was a lavender colt who wore a 'painted' flower that his father gave him, and sometimes sunglasses that matched his fur color perfectly.  It wouldn't be long until he would be able to go to school.  However, his father had to leave for a while to do things.  Before he left, his father gave Night clothes similar to his gear, and then went on his way.  Two weeks later, Night received word that his father had fallen in battle.  Having nowhere else to go, he was taken to an orphanage until he was either adopted or old enough to live alone.  He didn't think he could ever meet the ponies he'd be meeting there, and he never expected to be happy after he heard the news.  But he didn't know what was coming.

Charm Zap was a filly who was in her very first year of school.  Her parents had cared for her nonstop since she was born, and made sure they were both home when she was.  While sometimes this created money related issues, they always found a way to work through it.  Charm was at the top of her class, and every month her parents would take her somewhere to reward for doing so good in school.  Towards the middle of the school year, her mother came down with a sickness.  Charm and her father took her mother to a doctor, who said she would have less than 2 weeks left among the living.  She made sure her last 2 weeks were spent making everypony she knew as happy as she could, and 12 days later passed peacefully in her sleep.  3 weeks later her father came down with the same sickness.  She took him to the same doctor, who said he caught it from her mother and has fought it off until now.  He also stated that he will be fine as long as he stays healthy enough, and he would make it through the sickness.  Charm was relieved that she could still have one parent.  However, on his way home from work to meet Charm at home a few weeks later, he was attacked by someone who wanted his bits.  Upon refusal, the attacker sliced nearly his entire body, leaving no trace of skin anywhere.  Charm was confused when she got home, but the attacker had been watching her father for several days and knew where his home was.  The attacker arrived and said that her father was gone for a long time and he was sent to take care of her.  She didn't believe him.  He pulled out the knife he used to kill her father and ran towards her.  She ran until she couldn't run anymore, and she had apparently lost him.  Having nobody left to take care of her, she told her friends she was going to the nearest orphanage, and had one of her friends' parents take her there.

Mist Rider was a mysterious colt born into a mysterious family within a mysterious group.  He was left in shadow and told things would be explained when he was of age.  One day, his curiosity got the better of him.  He decided to sneak into one of the gatherings the group of families have.  He still didn't understand much, but two days later was brought to an orphanage and thrown out, being told his parents were 'silenced' for their inability to teach him right.  He was left confused, and expected nothing else of himself after that day than some screw-up, friendless loser.  Things were going to change when he didn't expect them to though, and he would have no idea what was going on when it did.
