The Doctor Assassin
Chapter 2: Back to the Future.
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe Assassin and Lightning Dust walked out to a dusty old shed that lay damaged and neglected from the Doctor’s previous pains of losing Derpy. As the Assassin began to open the door, he heard a branch snap in the darkness. The Assassin readied himself. A white pegasus, probably a member of the royal guard, walked out of the shadows.
“Stop right there, criminal scum! What are you doing here on private property?” said the pegasus, aiming a pike at him.
The Assassin rushed forward, at almost light speed, turned around after passing the guard, and stabbed the guard in the neck. The guard grabbed at his own throat, but the Assassin twisted the guard’s neck, breaking it, and dragged the body into the shed with Lightning Dust following.
“Requiescat in pace.” whispered the Assassin in the dying guard’s ear.
“Wow, harsh much?” asked Lightning Dust, folding her wings in tightly.
“I do what is necessary. Come into the TARDIS with me.” ordered the Assassin.
Lightning Dust walked into the shed, and saw a blue box that was tall and rather small looking.
“Are we going to fit in that dinky thing?” asked Lightning Dust, skeptical.
“It’s bigger on the inside, dearie.” replied the Assassin, adjusting his hidden blades so that they were less conspicuous.
The Assassin opened the door. The walls were filled with odd devices and a command center of sorts went through the middle of the TARDIS. And the Assassin was right, it was definitely bigger. Big enough that there was a set of stairs heading down to other rooms.
“Why do you use a TARDIS? Can’t you just use some magic or something?” asked Lightning Dust.
“I’m not a unicorn. I don’t have that luxury.” answered the Assassin. He walked over to the control panel and yanked a lever, and adjusted the times and locations on the TARDIS. The TARDIS began to show flashing lights and an odd blooping sound.
“We are going forward in time, to about 5000 A.D. and heading over to the planet Karotock. On that planet, our objectives are to kill Calias, a Templar Grandmaster and the killer of Derpy, and to save Derpy.” said the Assassin, pulling down his hood. “ We’ll do it with stealth.”
The TARDIS stopped its noise and lights.
“We should have landed in the middle of Derpy’s cell.” said the Assassin.
The doors of the TARDIS were flung open. The Assassin looked around. The cell was dismal, bright white, and freezing cold. Snow fell down from the ceiling. Over on a cot sat Derpy, looking rather frightened.
“Doctor, is that you?” Derpy asked, shivering.
“I was at one time. I am the Assassin, and I came to rescue you. I can explain, but for now, I need you to go into the TARDIS. Lightning Dust and I have business to attend to.” said the Assassin, using a key his previous self had pickpocketed to open the cell.
The Assassin and Lightning Dust walked out, sneaking along, making scarcely a sound. A guard was taunting a mare in her cell.
“Tonight, I’m going to have a lot of fun with you. Considering that you are the new prisoner here, I’ll get to show you a good time first.” The guard taunted. The mare began sobbing, hiding her face from the guard.
“Oh come on! I know you can’t avoid me.” said the guard.
“No, it is you who cannot avoid me.” said the Assassin, snapping the guard’s neck with his hooves. He procured the key and unlocked the mare’s cell.
The Assassin drew his long swords and snuck along the sides of the room. Another guard came into sight. The Assassin ran over and impaled the guard on the wall with his swords. The guard attempted to reach for his weapon, but the Assassin ran a wrist blade across the guard’s throat and then withdrew the swords from the guard’s body. The guard fell to the ground in a pool of blood, his wounds increasing the size of the puddle, and staining his yellow coat orange.
Lightning Dust, flying lightly to not leave footprints in the snow, looked at the dying pony. A simple earth pony, looking weak and helpless in the pool of blood. She looked over at the pony with a broken neck. He had been a unicorn, and Lightning understood that his death had been necessary, but had the earth pony needed to die?
“Come on. Calias cannot be left alive.” said the Assassin, beginning to fly himself.
“Understood.” Lightning Dust replied, keeping pace with the Assassin.

The two pegasi had snuck up on the office of Calias. The Assassin opened the door quietly. Calias sat in his chair, looking at his computer, facing the wall. Calias was a unicorn, his mane hidden by his cloak. He turned.
“Who are you?” asked Calias, his hoof reaching below his desk.
“I’m a member of the order of assassins. Well, not officially, but after seeing what cruelty templars can do, I’m very tempted to become one. I am the Assassin. Prepare to die, Grandmaster.” said the Assassin, holding his sword in Calias’s face.
Calias drew his own sword from beneath his desk, and charged at the Assassin. The Assassin took a deep breath, and then struck Calias with the sword, stabbing Calias in the leg.
“Fuck! That hurts. You’re good, Assassin.” spat Calias.
“Gratias tibi ago. Requiescant in pace, inferno daemonem.”whispered the Assassin as he prepared the killing stroke. A sudden pain across his back interrupted his attack. The Assassin turned to find Lightning Dust, gripping a blade taken from the wall, blood dripping from its edge.
“You fool. Why would you kill a Templar? After all, I am one, and so is Edrick. And if you’re going to kill a Grandmaster, then I guess you’re on the chopping block.” said Lightning Dust.
“What are you going to do about that, Lightning Dust?” asked the Assassin.
“I’m going to kill you.” replied Lightning Dust, charging at him.
“Damn it, why would you and Edrick be Templars?” asked the Assassin. Lightning Dust paused.
“We have our reasons.” she answered.
The Assassin had only asked that question to distract her. Before Lightning Dust could see the ruse, the Assassin stabbed her in the chest with his wrist blade. Blood flew from her chest, and turned the Assassin’s blade red. He withdrew his blade and Lightning Dust collapsed on the ground.
“Damnit all! Why did I lay down my life for a Grandmaster I didn’t even know? It doesn’t matter anyways. Edrick will soon obtain what he needs to both end the war, and to control even the Time Lords…” said Lightning Dust to herself as the last of her blood pooled on the carpet, and her last breath was released.
“I’m sorry.” said the Assassin, turning away from her lifeless corpse.
The Assassin turned to face Calias, but a unicorn had already grabbed him and slit his throat.
“Who are you?” asked the Assassin.
“Sorry. My name is Rarity. My friends and I are members of the Order of Assassins. I used a time travel spell to get here. Come with me, and join our noble cause against the Templars.” answered the unicorn.
“Alright. Then I need to give a lending hoof to the Time War.”
“Ok, then. Get ready to head to our stronghold.” said Rarity.
The room suddenly changed to a room with five other ponies. The Assassin recognized them from Ponyville. Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash and Princess Twilight Sparkle.
“Now, let us begin the induction. Answer in turn with what I say. Where other men blindly follow the truth…” started Twilight.
“Nothing is true.” answered the Assassin in turn.
“Where other men are limited by morality or law, remember…”
“Everything is permitted.”
“We work in the dark to serve the light. We are Assassins.”
Applejack readied a brand.
“Why do we need a brand anyways?” asked Rainbow Dash.
“Out of tradition, we brand our left forehooves.” explained Rarity.
“Oh, yeah.” said Rainbow Dash, seeing her own brand on her hoof.
“So what has made you Assassins?” asked the Assassin, mentally thinking to take a new name as the brand slightly hurt his hoof.
“ We have information from Celestia that a Templar is trying to get a hold of an ancient artifact, and the Time War is being fought by Assassins and Time Lords against the Templars and Daleks. We need to stop the Templar from obtaining the artifact.” said Twilight, gravely.
“Why?”
“The artifact is a Piece of Eden, from our research. We need to find it before the Templar does, or all of ponykind is doomed.”
