The Doctor Assassin
Chapter 3: Finale
Previous ChapterEdrick grunted. He took a swing at the rock ahead of him with a pickax. Bits of the rubble flung along the floor. Above, gun fire and lasers were heard. He hefted the pickax and swung again. This time, instead of hitting solid rock, he found a glowing object.
“At long last. The Lens of Eden has been found.” Edrick chuckled, swiping the artifact into his pocket.

Twilight and the rest of the Assassins were almost ready.
“Are you ready, Mr…” asked Twilight, pointing towards the Assassin.
“Bolton. Call me Bolton.” said the Assassin harshly.
“Okay then, Bolton. We’ve had Rarity bring the TARDIS, and Derpy is back at Ponyville , safe and sound. Let’s get going to Gallopfrey.”
The 7 Assassins got aboard the TARDIS, all ready. Twilight handed out weapons to each of the Assassins, except for Bolton, who was already finishing adjusting his Hidden Blades.
The TARDIS was beginning to slow. Fluttershy grabbed her crossbow and peeked out the door.
“Umm, no pony firing on us, Twilight.” said Fluttershy, quietly.
“Got it. Most of you will take the front lines, but Bolton and I will deal with the Piece of Eden and see who’s taking the piece.” said Twilight, pointing out positions on a map.
“I think I have an idea on who might be taking the Piece of Eden.” said Bolton, adjusting his cloak’s hood.
“Who would that be?”
“Edrick. A fellow Time Lord, but a Templar. Lightning Dust mentioned Edrick obtaining something to control even the Time Lords. Which sounds a lot like a Piece of Eden. Where would the piece be located?”
“Close to the core of the planet, if my calculations are correct.”
“Let’s get going! I came here to kick ass and eat pie, and we’re all out of pie.” Rainbow Dash said, flipping her mane out of her eyes.
The Assassins rushed out the door of the TARDIS. Rainbow Dash lead the others over to the battle zone, while Twilight and Bolton looked around from the air.
“I see drilling equipment over there!” shouted Twilight as she flew towards a large hole in the surface of the planet.
“Got you. We’ll have to go unnoticed. A stealthy slaughter, and then attack Edrick when the numbers have dwindled.” said Bolton, pulling down his hood. Twilight had a cloak and hood of her own, and put them on, along with two Hidden Blades.
The two ponies landed. Bolton rushed at a worker climbing up to a dump truck, and slit her throat. Twilight snuck up on a guard on the working area, and slashed his head off with her sword. Twilight pulled a switch, and Bolton walked through the gate. Twilight followed, holding her sword with magic, and behind her, the gate shut.
“Edrick should be far down the mine. Can you deal with some of the guards while I take care of Edrick?” asked Bolton.
“Yeah. I’ve got some spells to use if worst comes to worst.”
“Good. I hope the others are holding out okay.”

Rainbow Dash was readying a laser rifle, taken from a fallen Time Lord. The Daleks were less of a concern than the Templars. The Daleks’ shields had degraded from the constant fighting, and it only took a small burst of rifle fire to dispatch them. But the Templars were agile and swift, eluding the Assassin and Time Lord bullets.
Rainbow Dash set a large group of Daleks in her sights, and opened fire. All the Daleks fell, broke into pieces, or malfunctioned. She cheered in victory, but not for long. The last few Daleks were running out of juice, or being taken out, but that only meant that soon, the Templars would be their main concern.
Rainbow Dash checked the power percentage on the rifle. The rifles ran on a battery, which was charged through a onetime use clip. The percentage was only about 38%. Helpful, but not quite enough. The only other weapons that worked faster than the rifles were crossbows and conventional pistols. Rainbow Dash had acquired one of those from the same solider that had died with a laser rifle. She aimed and pulled the trigger, hitting a flying pegasus templar in the left wing. The pegasus attempted to brace for the impact with the ground, but he couldn’t, and he hit the ground with a sickening crunch.
Rainbow Dash checked the pistol. Empty. Great. She had the feeling that it wouldn’t be the last time she had to reload.

Bolton was flying carefully through the tunnels. His eyes burned with a fury. He reached the bottom of the tunnel, and saw Edrick, examining his prize. Bolton swung his sword at Edrick, who retaliated by drawing his own sword.
“I trust you saved Derpy?” Edrick asked.
“I have. Surrender the Piece of Eden to me.” replied Bolton.
Edrick answered with a swing of his sword, cutting off Bolton’s right wing. Blood flew from the wound, gushing all over the place. Bolton screamed in pain, but Edrick
interrupted his scream by stabbing Bolton in the chest. Edrick laughed.
“For an Assassin, you’re pretty weak. Just die.” said Edrick, walking past Bolton.
Bolton swung his sword out of desperation, and knocked an item from Edrick’s pocket. A vial full of blue liquid rolled in front of Bolton. He uncorked it and then lapped up the liquid within. It tasted similar to the very liquid that forced his regeneration into Bolton. Bolton felt the glow happen over his body. He outstretched his left wing and what remained of his right wing, and they, along with his face and hooves, began to glow. The burst of energy burned Edrick’s skin, and Bolton’s fire faded. Out of the flames appeared Doctor Whooves, back to normal. The Assassin’s brand, cloak, and weaponry remained, along with a burning desire to kill Edrick. He rushed forward, and stabbed Edrick in the chest. Edrick lay on the floor of the mine.
“
Well, nice to have you back, Doctor.” smirked Edrick.
“Enough with it, Edrick. I’m taking the piece of Eden, and then letting you die.” said the Doctor, gripping his sword.
Twilight came flying down the tunnel, hapharzardly killing any pony she saw, before landing in the tunnel where Edrick and the Doctor were.
“Good job. Let’s take the Piece of Eden, get the rest of the group, and then go to Celestia so we can destroy it.” Twilight said.
“What about Gallopfrey, and the Templars above?” asked the Doctor.
Edrick coughed and then grabbed a radio from his jacket.
“Templars, retreat. The artifact is not here.” said Edrick into the radio. Twilight and the Doctor looked at him.
“I’m surrendering. Here’s the Piece of Eden.” Edrick said, holding out the ancient artifact.
“But why, Edrick?” asked the Doctor.
“Because if I have the Templars continue, my own planet will die along with me. There is no point if I’m dying anyways.” Edrick replied, his voice but a whisper now. “Good bye, old friend.”he whispered, and drew his last breath.
“Goodnight, Edrick, heir to Grand Time Lord Dragonio, and Templar Grandmaster. Requiescat in pace.” whispered the Doctor.
Twilight prepared for flight, and the Doctor walked over to an old elevator, starting it to exit the mine as Edrick's body felt a peace he had never had in life.

Rainbow Dash and the four of her friends who had stayed with her waited for Twilight and Bolton. The Templars had all retreated to Celestia knows where, and the other Assassins had left in pursuit. The Time Lords had gone into a grand hall to prepare a victory feast. Applejack was chewing on a piece of grass that had somehow survived the intense warfare. Pinkie Pie was bouncing as usual, wanting to throw some kind of Time War Victory party, while Fluttershy was preening her feathered wings. Rarity was complaining about the mud in her hooves, despite the blood soaked cloak she wore. Rainbow Dash was rather amused with this fact, and so was Applejack, who chuckled to herself.
Twilight landed on the ground in front of her friends.
“So, Twilight, where’s Bolton?” asked Rainbow Dash.
“It’s actually Doctor Whooves.” said the Doctor, worn and weary, but still wearing his cloak.
“Ain’t you the stallion Derpy’s had her heart set on for a while now?” asked Applejack.
“Yes, I am. I’d like to go back to Equistria soon though. I’ve worn rather weary from the battle and regeneration.” answered the Doctor.
“Let’s go to Canterlot, then we can go to Ponyville.” said Twilight. Her horn glowed, as did Rarity’s, and they were transported just outside of the Castle where Celestia and Luna resided. It was mid-morning in Canterlot, so Twilight rapped on the door. The Royal Guard approached.
“What brings you here, Princess Twilight?” asked Flash Sentry.
“My friends and I need to speak to Princess Celestia.” said Twilight.
*****
“…So that’s what happened?” asked Celestia, holding the obtained Piece of Eden.
“Yes, your majesty.” answered the Doctor.
“Okay, then. The piece is to be destroyed now.” said Celestia, who then blasted the artifact to bits.
“Wow.” said Pinkie Pie.
“You want to see “Holy shit” too?” grinned Celestia.
Before Pinkie could open her mouth, Twilight teleported the group back to Ponyville.
*****
Derpy hugged the Doctor tightly, happy to have him back.
“So what exactly happened?” asked Derpy.
“Everything you’d expect.” said the Doctor, kissing Derpy with a passion that could never be matched ever again.

The finale. I'm pretty done for a while. I'll work on something new later.
