Six months past the healing of Scootaloo.

Patrick

I sat in Twilight's throne, the young princess wanted me to look at the map of Equestria that had appeared with the castle, hoping I could find the magic that connected it to Everfree. It was an odd request but I excepted, she was being surprisingly quiet about the castle and I wanted some answers too. Although I had started to look over the map, the absence of Twilight had caused me to wonder the palace and eventually the large portal in her storage room had caught my eye. The machine looked impressive and seemed to bend the dimensional barriers of this realm........to where I had no idea.

A book was placed on top and seemed to be the link between the worlds.

'Damn my curiosity.' I walked over and touched the book with my magic and watched the machine activate. It bent the magic from the book and the portal opened. Looking back, I saw that I was alone and I summoned a minion; the skeleton of a minotaur.

"Make sure no one closes the portal......but don't kill anyone, or hurt them.......in fact just stand in the doorway like a statue. No moving."
I walked in, the world bleeding into a pink light.

I took a shaky step on the over side of the portal. I looked down at my feet to see two hoofs standing in a puddle as the rain poured around me.

"Whoa," I looked myself over in the reflection of the portal. I was a skeletal horse, large and imposing with blue fire in my eye sockets. A large blue rode with gold embroidering was draped over me, covering everything except my hoofs and the boney muzzle of my face.

"Alright, one step at a time."

I had been walking around the town for a few hours, it was nice in all honesty. I had spent so much time in Equestria that I had almost forgotten what this felt like. Sure, Equestria had a few larger cities but I hadn't visited them, mostly in fear of being discovered by a pony. But even with the humans here looking......different to what I remember, it was refreshing to be among my own people again.

I walked in the back alleys as it started to get dark and I looked at the sky, the dark clouds over head looked ominous but I always loved the rain.

'Maybe I should head back, I bet there's a princess on the other side just waiting for me to explain myself.'

As I walked back I saw a group of people in the alleyway. Two people surrounded a third, who was laying on the ground, and one of the two seemed to be counting something. I growled, some things never change.

I walked towards them; this was a really stupid idea, but the demented ramblings from two mentally unstable thugs won't be taken seriously by the general public.

"Evening gentlemen." I said, staying in the shadows. They turned, pulling out knifes as I continued, "I couldn't help but see your nightly activity and, as a concerned citizen, I couldn't help but intervene."

They shared a cocky smile and laughed, "You think you can take both of us, the fuck do you think you are?"

I stepped out of the shadows, letting my face be seen and summoned some of my blue fire, crating will-o-wisps that floated around me.

"I am Death, and I have come for the two of you."

They looked at each other and ran, dropping the money that slowly hit the wet ground. The person didn't get up however, and I walked towards the person in a hoodie and sweat pants. Rolling the person over revealed the person to be female, she had orange skin with large puffy hair that was also orange.

It also revealed the head wound that was bleeding.

"Damn........how did she get that hair under that hood."

"Aahhhh, what hit me...."

"I think it was a brick."

I shot up but fell down again, the wound to my head making me dizzy. As my vision cleared, I saw a figure standing in the shadows. I couldn't see him, but the blue glowing eyes REALLY didn't put me at ease. I looked around and saw that I was under a restaurant cover in the same alley I was in earlier, it keeping the rain off me.

"Don't worry, the two that tried to rob you got scared off. Your money is in front of you."

I looked down at the bills. I picked them up and noticed they were a little water damaged but they would be fine once they dried. I counted them to make sure, and it seemed that everything was here....all sixty-five dollars.

Mugged and beaten for sixty-five bucks. Just my luck.

I put the money in my pocket, it wasn't much but it would have to last. I sighed and got up.

"Thanks for, you know, helping me."

"No problem. What's your name by the way, I'm Patrick and how's the head?"

I touched the wound to find it bandaged but still sore.

"Adagio.....Dazzle, and it hurts but I'll get over it." I got up, leaning myself against the wall, but it still caused the dizziness returned.

"Whoa whoa whoa, take it easy. A head wound isn't something you can just walk off."

I ignored him and stood up under my own power. "I'll be fine."

"No you won't. You could have a concussion or .."

"I'll be fine! So just fuck off!"

He was quiet, so I took it as my cue to leave. It was hard getting back but I made it to the shitty apartment building I called home. I unlocked my door and walked in to find it exactly like I remembered it, rundown and with only three rooms; a bathroom with no shower, a kitchen and the rest of the area. I sighed and sat on my bed, it being one of the few nice things I had left.

"Nice place."

I jumped to my feet, ignoring the dizzy spell. I saw the blue eyes again, this time coming from my darkened kitchen.

"How did you get in here?"

"I walked in, wasn't that hard."

"What do you want? I don't have anything."

"Why?"

I stopped, blinking at the question.

"Why don't you have anything? Why are you alone?" The eyes turned to a picture on the wall, the only one that hung in the house. One of three girls, one with orange hair, one with purple and one with blue.

I felt myself get angry, "You want to know? I'm alone because my damn sisters abandoned me! We were supposed to be queens, ruling over all these hu..people, but we failed and we were forced to fend for ourselves. We were poor, but we were together. One day, I came home and they were gone. Turns out, the two of them had the "looks" to make it in the fashion industry."

"How do you know that?"

I throw a magazine at his feet, on the back was Sonata, showing off the new dress by some asshole.

"They've sent no letters, no calls to say hello or to explain what happened, and" I looked around" no money. I tried to call, to write but I got no responses from them. I even took a bus to meet them in person but I was told that I was on the "No entry" list and was blocked from seeing them. You see, it was my idea that got us thrown into the fire and I guess it was the final straw for them. And I can't blame them, it's my fault I'm alone. I know that."

I sat down. I don't know why I opened myself to this......stranger but it got me down. I looked at the shadow, "If you're here for something just take it. I don't care anymore."

'Holy shit, I was not expecting that.' I was ready for some 'my dad was an asshole' or 'my foster family wasn't nice to me', but this wasn't what I was ready for.

I scanned her, and was surprised at that it said.

'Siren? But the magic is gone....no, the siren magic is gone but the natural Equestrian magic is still there and is being protected along with her form by.....the Magic of Harmony?'

'Ok, something's up.'

"You are a siren."

She looked up, surprise clear on her face.

"How do you know that? Did you go to that high school?"

"No, I dropped out when I was young, but that's not what's important. Look; I know what you were, but not what you are now. What happened to you?"

She looked down, her face going from angry to sad.

"Some kind of rainbow magic. It striped me and my sisters of our magic and our gems broke. It was........" She grabbed her chest, just below her collarbone.

"Soul breaking, like you lost something that you will never get back."

She looked shocked at my response but that quickly turned to sorrow and she started to cry.

"I know what we were doing was bad, but it was what we were born to do....why did this happen?"

"Because people and ponies fear what they don't understand. It also didn't help that you tried to mind control a high school. People tend to get upset at someone trying to take away their free will."

"So what do you want? It's clear you're from Equestria but why say all this?"

"*Sigh* I have a proposition for you."

"What?"

"I can take you back to Equestria."

She looked up, some tears still fresh in her face and her eyes wide open.

"What....?" she asked softly. "Why would you help me?"

I walked into the light, letting her see my form.

"Y...you're...the....the..."

"Let's just say, I know what it's like to be in a tough situation, and what it's like when someone is there to help you. I will be willing to be that someone, though there will be some ground rules if you agree to my proposal. Ok?"

She just nodded, her face turning a shape whiter than before and her hand started shaking.

'This is going to be a long night.'

Twilight

I pushed with all my might but the skeleton still didn't move. It had been standing there when I got home and it looked like it was protecting the portal to the human world, which was on for the record.

I tired asking it to leave, pushing it, hitting it with magic, which worked but it just repaired itself. After trying to teleport around it, it reached out and grabbed my horn, causing the spell to fizzle out......and it didn't let go. So here I was, one of four Alicorn princesses in Equestria, brought down by a science lab prop.

"Would you just let go!" I pushed against it's legs again, trying to pull my horn from its hand, but it was worthless. As well, with Spike at Rarity's for a sleepover with the crusaders, there was no-pony to help me or to send for help.

I sat down, glaring at it, Patrick was going to be in so much trouble when he gets back.

An hour later and I saw the portal light up. The skeleton turned to ash as Patrick walked out of the portal, with one of the sirens behind him.....who was still human?

"Patrick? What's going on? What's she doing here? Why did you go into the portal?"

"In order: yes that's my name, I went into the portal, she's my new apprentice, and because I was curious."

I sat there, staring at him. "What?"

He sighed, "I'll explain in the morning. I'm going home."

"Wait!"

He snapped his fingers and the two teleported away in a ball of blue fire.

"Patrick!"

Patrick

We teleported into my home, the artificial sun already dimmed to show how late it had gotten. I turned to my guest.

"How are you holding up?"

"Alright, but she was...."

"I know; one of the ones who defeated you."

She sighed and looked at her hands.

"Why am I human?"

"The magic of harmony took away your siren magic, but your Equestria form is a siren and that form can't survive without it. The magic of harmony protected you from the affects of the portal, keeping you human. It was the only way you would have survived the trip."

"And you knew?"

"Of course, I wouldn't have done this otherwise."

"But why are you helping me? And don't just repeat yourself."

"*sigh* I am the spirit of Death, but I wasn't always like this. I was human, once, and was brought here against my will. But someone helped me to adjust, when I was at my lowest. I want to return the kindness I was shown. And you, who lost her powers because of your actions, will know the importance of using your powers for good."

"Powers?"

"Of course, you're my new apprentice, did you think I was just saying that for shits and giggles?"

"Yes, actually." She looked away, blushing at her own honesty."I thought you were just saying that to get me to come with you."

I shook my head 'Kids today.'

"Come on, I'll show you the guest room. You can sleep there tonight."

We walked towards the house. While I was wondering what I was going to tell my wife, I saw Adagio pull the picture of her and her sisters out and looked at it before folding it in half and putting it in her pocket.

'Here's hoping she can move past her pain.'

As she entered the room, I saw the Changeling egg, wrapped in a blanket and under a smaller version of my fake sun.

I touched the shell and felt the life inside, it was almost ready.

"Don't rush little one, take your time. I will be here when you emerge, I promise."
