She lay there, hooked up to so many machines it was almost unbearable to look. Sam's been in a coma for three days now in the Ponyville hospital, her midsection enveloped in bandages and a breathing device over her face. It was a depressing feeling that the one person that you depended on so many occasions now depended on you and it was eating me up inside. Everyone else was waiting outside while I paid my respects for however long it took, I could only imagine how long she will be under for; a day, a week, a year. I had no idea but all I wanted was for her to get better. "Why did you do that?" I question her unmoving body, It felt like talking to a corpse and given that she was so close to being like that, it was a complete possibility and still one but the hospital staff assured me that they would do all in their power to save her. "Why would you sacrifice yourself for me." I could feel the tears building up in my eyes and yet I could make myself shed them for all that I was worth. I lean down to her almost serene face and plant a soft kiss to her cheek before turning away and heading for the door. It was painful to go but I had no choice.
Upon exiting the room, I found myself swarmed by the others; Bane, Mawhile, FireDancer, and a few other ponies that I never got around to find the names to, them all with questions but none that I felt like answering right now so I just pushed past them after motioning for my Pokemon to follow along and decided to go home. Upon leaving the building, I was struck by a light drizzle of rain that felt cool on the skin but not enough to drench me, we walked across town and towards my home since appearing here. I have no idea why we never left but after this, I just felt homesick and knowing that if we were there again, we could save her quicker, shed be herself in no time, but that is still impossible, though I haven't seen, Twilight about it in a long time. "Maybe I should." I say to myself, gaining the eyes of Bane and Mawhile. I turn away from the house and head in the direction of the library, the most prominent thing in this village, a short time later, I come up to the door and knock at it resulting in squawk of alarm and the sound of someone coming towards the door.
"How many times do I have to tell you, people. It's a publ....." She is cut short as she opens the front door to find me standing there, in the light rain with a miserable look on my face. "Oh, Rob. Do come in. Let me get something for you all to drink." She quickly says before scampering off in the direction that I believe is the kitchen to get us what she believes we need. I take her instruction and silently head inside and go over and sit down at one of the few reading chairs in the room, my Mightyena and Mawhile following closely behind. It was not long before, Twilight returned with said drink and lay them down on a platter on top of a desk in front of us, I do not touch it though as I wait for her to settle down and take a seat.
"Now," she starts. "What is it that you came here for?" She asks with a sympathetic expression. I look back at her with an empty look which slightly unnerves her.
"I want you too find me a way home."
"A way home? That is a really dificult thing to do. It cannot simply be fixed by a simple spell and the way I brought you here is probably only a one way trip but I will try my best to do this for you. I can only imagine how you must be feeling right now. I can only hope that, Sam gets better."
"Thank you, but her health is none of your concern, she was my responsibility and "I" failed her." I reply with a growl. "She was my one and now her life in hanging on a thread and there is little I can do until you can get me home where she can be treated to properly. Can you do this as soon as possible. I don't want to lose her." I finish my request with a choke wheeze and double over as my eyes well up and overflow over my face, my hands in a vain attempt to cover up my sadness and shame. I was still in that posture when i felt a lick at my cheek and a pat on the back from who I can guess at being my Pokemon attempting to make me feel better.
"I see. Well, I can start right away but I'll need you all to leave for I will need all of my concentration in order to help you. I'll find you if I can find a way. Take the drinks with you, just be sure to return them later." She says with a smile before gently leading us out of the building so we can go home.
It was getting dark by the time we finally made it home and looked as though a heavy storm was about to come through, so we rushed inside just as they water came down. We head into the kitchen where I set the cups down and take up mine finally and drink the whole thing in one go. It was sweet tasting and seemed to calm me a bit so I headed up to my room to take a nap. Upon letting the others know where i'd be, I headed upstairs and entered the room and that I would have now shared with Sam. I head over to the bed and strip down till I was comfortable and slid in under the blankets, my face pushed into the pillow as I try to find a comfortable position to sleep in but after a short time of trying to sleep something happened, a sudden wave of calm fell on my and forced me to sleep but this was no ordinary sleep, I was completely aware of this and it unnerved me. I was in a room, my old room, back at Hoenn and sitting on the bed was, Sam. The same, Sam that was now in a coma and fighting to stay alive. This, Sam was flawless and looked out of place in a scene like this, this just made me all the more sad, I sit down on the ground and curl up into a ball and bury my face into my hands, I could not accept this, it was too soon.
I sat there for what felt like hours but was no more than seconds before I felt the touch of a hand on my head, I look up and find myself staring into the smiling face of my lovely gardevoir, Sam. "Is, is it you?" I ask to the apparition above me. She could not be real but I could feel her touch me, apparitions couldn't do that, can they? She just nods at me and then taking my arms in her hands, pulls me up onto my feet.
"It is me. It will always be me, it'll be me for as long as we both my live and don't forget that. For even if my body perishes, you'll still have my soul." She leans in and plants a soft kiss to my lips and it felt the same as if she were right there in front of me.
"How, how are we here, what are you doing?" I ask.
"Seeing as I cannot talk to you in my physical body and I wish not to wake it in the chance of it shutting down from the damage sustained, I have resigned myself to talking to you in your dreams till such time that my body is fit to awaken." She says in a ghost like voice.
"When will you be ready to wake up?" I ask, a tear falling from one eye but is quickly wiped away.
"Not for a short time yet, but do not fret, I will awaken and I will be yours again." With that final sentence her body starts to disappear. "But right now, I am still too weak to sustain this form for very long so I must say good bye for now. Now sleep." With those final words, my world falls apart and i'm thrust into the world of dreams for the final time that night.
