Chapter 2: Lyra's Perspective

Previous Chapter

Lyra’s POV

So, I was just at Pinkie Pie’s party, you know, great food, drinks, music, and overall, a great time. So, when I was talking to some other ponies at the party, I thought I saw something other their shoulder. Once I fully acknowledged what I saw, I knew what I had to do.

“Uh, hey, I just remembered I had to be somewhere, I’ll be back soon, ok?” I immediately ran towards where he was. I don’t even remember who I was talking to.

Anyways, while I was running towards what I though was the building he was hiding behind, he looked out around the corner, and saw me. I knew that this might be my only chance at proving that humans exist. So when I turned the corner and saw him running away, I didn’t let this opportunity get past me, and I ran after him.

After a while of chasing him, I started to get tired. So I had only one option left. I did a quick teleportation spell in front of him. It took a lot of magic to do it, but it would be worth it.

He looked shocked, I guess it was because he almost crashed into me. He backed up a bit, and I decided to try to ease some of the tension in the air by trying to start up a simple conversation. Well, as simple as I could make it, “Are you… are you a human?” That probably wasn’t the best question to ask, but it seemed to get him out of his shocked state. The reply wasn’t fully as I expected it to be.

“Yes, and my name is Jason, and all will be revealed in time.”

After saying that, he suddenly pressed something on his arm, and disappeared. I didn’t know what or even how to think of what just happened. All I knew was that one moment he was in front of me, then the next, he was gone.

After a few moments of trying to figure out what just happened, I decided to just return to the party. I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t get to talk a bit more to him, but I just met a human. A real life, living human. I had to tell them. Yet after thinking about it for a bit, I thought that either nopony would believe me, or, if they did believe me, try to hunt him down. I decided that it too big of a risk to take.

Then I saw one of his hoof prints, and a thought crossed my mind. ‘This could be the evidence I need to prove I’m telling the proof.’ I immediately memorized where it was located, and went home to get plaster to get a mould of the imprint. That would definitely have to prove what happened.

It took a bit of time to find it due to there being so many papers that I have written trying to prove the existence of humans, but this was the only evidence I needed to prove that they exist once and for all. There were also a few books I had borrowed from Twilight before what Tirek did to the library. I feel sorry for what happened, but I will have to return them to her later.

So after finding the plaster, I ran out the door and returned to the area were the hoofprint was, and immediately made a cast of it. I am almost completely sure that I had the biggest grin in the history of pony kind. I’m not sure how I didn’t notice this before, but the ‘hoofprint’ I made a cast of looked more like an imprint of a shoe of some sort, and that could only further the fact that it was not made by a pony. The fact it was shaped oddly also could only prove that it was made by a human.

After making sure the plaster was dry, I quickly looked around the area for anymore. there were a few, but they were smeared, and were therefore unusable. I was a bit disappointed that I couldn’t get any more specimens, but was still in a good mood because I finally had solid evidence that humans really exist.

I decided that tomorrow would be a better day to show everypony the evidence that I had collected. I put the now dry cast of the human’s shoe imprint on top of the desk where I put all the rest of  the evidence for humans. But just then, I got the feeling that tomorrow might not be the day to show them all. It’s hard to explain, but that’s the feeling I got. I wanted to show them all that humans really do exist, and as soon as possible. So I decided that the day after tomorrow would be the day.

The next day, I was getting everything prepared to show them, when Bon Bon, my friend and roommate, knocked on my door.

“Lyra, are you coming down for breakfast?”

I had completely forgotten about breakfast. “Uh, yeah, just uh, preparing something for tomorrow.”

“Ok, just don’t take too long.”

Few, that was close. Luckily she didn’t come in or anything. I then put down what I was doing, and went downstairs to breakfast. Where is he, and what is he doing anyways?
