Chapter One: Protocol
“I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.”-Albert Einstein
Counter quote “What about bones good sir?”-friendly100

BZZT! BZZT! BZZ-Was all I heard as I sent my hoof, faster and harder than I intended, onto the damn alarm clock. With my eyes bleary, and my body and head screaming at me to go back to sleep, I looked at the horrible creation. Apparently I’d hit it hard enough to dent the big ‘SLEEP’ button on top, stupid things were made of such thin metal this was almost a daily occurrence with me.

With a deep sigh I thought aloud, “damn maintenance is gonna have a field day when they find out I almost broke another clock.” As I swung my hind legs off the bed I noticed a slight crack on the face of the clock, which now read 10:01 P.M. “Oh well. Those assholes will have to wait their turn,” once again stating my thoughts to nopony.

I wandered over to the mirror in my room and looked into it to confirm that I still have no cutie mark. I lingered a little longer to straighten my mane a little. Mostly trying to make the parallel streaks of dirty gold, with a sun yellow streak splitting them, move to the right side of my face, effectively covering my right eye. Luckily for me the most part of my mane is jet black so it pretty much matches my attitude, especially in the mornings; or whatever qualifies for morning when you live in a stable.

Once again my eyes floated down my garnet red coat to my blank flank. Stifling my self-disgust I tugged on my issued stable 14 barding that was lying on my dresser. I stole another quick glance into the mirror as I canted to the door. It opened before I got there to reveal the Overmare. She quickly placed herself into the center of my room. As she swept her eyes over it she noted the newly dented alarm clock. “I see you have decided to start the day off with your usual habit of breaking things,” the snide little bitch commented.

“Oh yes, it goes ever so well with my sense of style and grace doesn’t it?” I quipped as I tried to focus instead on the gentle hum of the lights overhead.

“Cut the act Scotch and answer me this. Are you still ready for the Harvest Moon Festival later?” she asked trying to get down to business as usual.

“Of course, but that’s not what you’re here for now is it?”

“No, I’m here abo-“

“Save it. I know why you’re here.”

“Oh really now?”

“Yeah. Yur here about that Pegasus bitch that opened the stable door the other day.”

“Wait. How do you know about that?”

“This is a stable dumbshit, there’s practically no way to stop word from spreading. And I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess that you were worried that I was going to be like every other imbecile in this stable and be too filled with worry to actually be able to perform tonight.”

Bearing her muzzle and gritting her teeth, it so cute when she does that, she admitted with difficulty, “Yes, that’s what I was thinking, but it doesn’t make it any less possible that you know it.”

“Oh? And what about the fact that I simply don’t give two shits?” I questioned feeling the corners of my lips pull back into a sneer.

After she gave a heavy sigh she stated, "as much as I despise talking to you, you are like a breath of fresh air. Oh, and after your 'performance' I want you to step by my office. There's a little matter I'd like to discuss with you." As she trotted out the door she tossed over her shoulder, as if it were an afterthought, "In private."

What does she want this time? Whatever it is there's sure to be yelling. I could a frown slowly creeping across my muzzle. Oh well, might as well get to the stage and prepare the performance, I thought as I headed out the door. It opened with a slight hiss each half going their own way horizontally; as all doors in stable 14 do. I sauntered down through the corridors while focusing on the gentle hum of the lights.

I soon found myself at the stairs and began to wind my way up the two flights leading to Luna's Garden. The dim lights were a welcome sight as my eyes adjusted, relaxing slightly. This really is my favorite place to be out of all the stable. As I passed by the, supposedly, life-size statue of Princess Luna I dipped my head in respected to the mare of the night. As I raised my head and began to walk along the winding path through the many plants, I noticed "Backstage pony #1" preparing the stage for my performance.

The single bead of sweat rolling down my face. The warmth of the black fire as it forms at the base of my horn, forming a halo around my head telling me it's ready to go. The lights from the host as he introduced me slowly fading. The feeling in the pit of my stomach that screams to run in the opposite direction. The itch all over my body that's followed me, seemingly, ever since birth making me feel uncomfortable in my own skin. I hate this.

With a sigh I trotted up to center of the stage and released the halo of black fire from the base of my horn. It collapses in on itself and I feel it travel up my horn. It fires off the tip of my horn to create a giant grey ball of fire above me, to any that didn't stop and stare it would seem a miniature moon.

My horn began to glow its soft black color as I performed the spell that would allow me to project my voice and start up the music. I noticed that most of the ponies eyes were still transfixed on the mini-moon above me and let the beat play a few seconds before starting up.

And then I started:

"V is for vain
'Cause my life was on the edge
Now it’s arranged, inane
Got plucked out like a cabbage
H is for honesty
I'm not gonna hide it
The doc gave me some Knowzac
'Cause my life is undecided
R is for relationships
And mine are non-existent
‘cause I have no friends and my women,
heh
I like to keep them distant
S is for solitude
I want to live in isolation
building beats, cooking treats
Making waves like radiation
My sound travels through walls
Beats drop-

This is still an incomplete chapter. The only reason I'm putting this up now is so that I can get an idea of what people think about it before I head off further into the story. This means I want you, yes you, to comment.
