Falling for a Mail Mare
Chapter 13 - The day an author got married.
Previous ChapterNext ChapterWedding preparations. Those two words put shivers down my spine. It feels as those together become the most annoying thing that has ever happened in my life. I knew from the start, I want the wedding to happen. Getting there, well, I would love it if I could just skip that step. Go to the wedding immediately, that would be amazing. Reality, on the other hand, has different plans. All the time. How annoying. I then sighed as I kept writing the letters to everyone we were going to invite. My parents, editor, publisher, etc. Not worth it. I already got my tux prepared quickly like the ball. Derpy, on the other hand, had a longer wait as the pony know as Rarity just could not believe she was making a wedding dress. I've never seen someone panic over getting a dress done. As I finished the letters, I let out a huge sigh. I then took the letters and went to the post office.
“Hey beautiful. Got some letters to be sent.”
“Hiya Red! Are those some of the invites?”
“Yep. I can't wait till this is all done.”
“Want to get married right now?”
“If I could, I would, but my parents want all the fluff though.”
“It'll be fine Red.”
“Thanks.”
I then left the post office and scratched my head. One more stop for today. I then went to the library. I knocked on the door and heard a pony saying to come in. I walked in slowly.
“Hey Twilight.”
“Oh, mister Red Feather, how its going?”
“Yes its fine, I need to ask you a favor.”
“Oh, what is it?”
“I'm getting married, though you probably already knew that.”
“Oh yes, I know, Rarity is especially happy to make the wedding dress.”
“Yeah, no kidding. Anyways, I would like you to be our officiant.”
“You would like me to marry you two? I would love too!”
“Thanks Twilight.”
“Of course.”
“Um, we'll tell you when it is later.”
“No problem.”
I left and my checklist of the many things to prepare had one more thing checked. I then felt like I was shrinking in to more and more annoyances. Before I knew it, days passed as we prepared the wedding more and more. Then, it finally happened. The day finally happened, the wedding. I went to the town hall where we were going to hold the wedding. As soon as I got there, my dad dragged me to a dressing room, and put my tux on me.
“How you feeling son?”
“Tired, wanting this to be over with and just be with my wife.”
“That's a bit negative son, cheer up, this a huge day in your life.”
“I know it is dad.”
“Look sharp, this is your big day. Don't ruin it for yourself.”
“....”
I looked at myself in the mirror. When did I get like this? I felt so tired yet I didn't want the day to end. It happens today. Wow.
Before I knew it, the ceremony began. I looked and not many ponies were at the wedding. Just shows how popular we are as in we aren't popular, at all. Ink Basher was my best man and Carrot Top was the maid of honor. I soon went down the isle and was there, waiting. Then she came down the aisle. She was beautiful. Indescribable, just amazing. Before I knew it, she was right in front of me. I froze. I didn't hear what Twilight was saying. I just kept looking at her. Then she gave an expecting look.
“Um, Red?” asked Twilight.
“Oh, uh, I do.” I said, panicking.
“And do you take this stallion as your husband Derpy?”
“I do.”
Then we kissed. It was the best moment of my life. Why was I worried about all this? Why was I dreading this? I can't remember for the life of me. Before I knew it the ceremony was done. Twilight had someone named Pinkie Pie had done the party arrangements and ordered the cake. Her and a pony named Vinyl Scratch began entertaining everypony else. I then went to Derpy and asked her one thing.
“Wanna dance again, just like the ball?”
“....Yes.”
We then slow danced. We danced in circles. It felt as if the lights of room swirled around us. Pure beauty was dancing with me. I couldn't have been happier. I felt on top of the world as we kept dancing together. I just kept looking into her eyes as she kept looking at me. I couldn't stop. I kissed her without thinking. Did I need to think? No, probably not.
“I love you Derpy.” I said.
“I know.” she said back to me.
We finally stopped dancing, mainly because we realized we were really tired, dancing in this tux and her in her dress. I then got us both some cake and punch. Then my mom came over to me.
“Oh, I'm so proud of you son!”
“Thanks mom.”
“I'm so proud of you too Derpy.”
“Thanks.” she said.
“I can't believe it, I have a daughter-in-law and Dinky as my grand daughter-in-law as well. I'm so happy.”
“Well done son.” my dad said as he joined us. “Welcome to the family Derpy.”
“I'm glad to be part of it.”
“That's great.”
I then relaxed myself. I felt relieved. Then, I realized something, we never planned a honeymoon. Hope my mom doesn't find out.
“So when's the honeymoon?” she asked.
Great, I knew this was going to happen, “Um, mom, we didn't plan one.”
“What?!”
“Don't yell.”
“What kind of stallion are you?!”
“Honey, calm down.” my dad said.
“It's fine.” said Derpy. “We don't have the money anyways, we spent it all for this wedding.”
“Yeah, it will all work out mom, don't worry about it.”
“.....” my mom had her pouty face on and then said, “Fine.”
The wedding was over, everything was done. I was happy again. Maybe that's why ponies have weddings, to feel dread and then find happiness again. I guess....
