Chapters Discord does some reading
"Oh Discord! Why don't you go to the library and do some reading instead of lazing around for a change? It will do you some good. Oh what a bother Celestia is! Always nagging about what I do with valuable time as a powerful Spirit. Yet here I am, slaving away reading dusty, crummy, torn, excuses for books." Discord said sitting next to a bookshelf in the bottom level of the canterlot archives.
"I mean who is she to tell me what to do? Just because she's the princess of the sun? Ha! I remember when there being a ruler 10x as more regal and powerful as her. Oh what was his name again?"
Discord put his hands to his forehead trying to remember the name.
"Uh, umm, come on, come on! (phew) No good. Darn it!" The chaos spirit yelled hitting the bookshelf.
A single book fell out and hit him on his head.
"Ow! Why you little-! Hang on a sec, what is this?"
The book the spirit had in his hand was a large tattered, brown one covered and symbols and pictures. The penmanship of the writing wasn't like the other books. In fact it didn't seemed to be written in equish at all. On the center of the book cover was an image of the sun and the moon together.
"Oh great. Another book about Celestia and Luna's great achievements over the centuries. No doubt another snooze fest for me."
Discord opened the book and began to read it. Well, try would better word. The writing inside even was more obscured than the cover itself like it was written by infants.
"Why I am wasting my valuable time with simple nonsense like this?" He said tossing the book aside.
The book flew threw the air and landed on the ground opening to the very last page. A small voice yelped.
"Hmm? What was that?" Discord asked looking around.
"That was me." The voice answered.
"Who? Is there anypony here?"
"I am here. But I'm not sure you would consider me a pony."
"Well why are you hiding? Come on out. I don't bite."
"I'm not hiding. And please don't talk to me like I'm an infant. I one of the oldest things here."
Discord turned around to face the book.
"Don't tell me. Your the book."
An old, withered face formed out of the final pages of the book. It spoke in a calm but raspy voice.
"Trapped more like. But this isn't about me, It's about those princesses bossing you around like they're your mother. Correct?"
"Well."
"And were you not talking about you wish to be a free sprit again?"
"Yes I was, but-"
"But?"
"But if you are planning on ending I won't no part in it."
"Oh no! I wouldn't dream of something as cruel as that. Mainly because I can't sleep but that's besides the point."
"What are you suggesting then?"
"I also overheard you talking about the being that there was a being far more powerful then Celestia."
"Right! Her father, what was his name again? It began with a ....... "C" I think."
"No, no, no. I'm thinking about someone stronger than the royal family. Two of them actually."
"Really? But who?"
"The two ponies that ruled the land long ago when the princesses' ancestors ere still in diapers and was far more superior than any other god you can think of. The original owners of the great sun and the mighty moon: Lord Hyperion and Sir Atlas. "
"You mean the fabled Titians! I thought they were myths made by old pony folk in the days of yore."
"I assure you they are no myths. They are as real as you, me, and the kingdom we now walk through."
"Okay. But tell me this: How do we bring them here?"
"Leave that problem to me my dear friend. Just leave it to me."
It's the most hottest time of the year
"Oh dear Celestia it's so hot today!" Rarity complained as she and spike stepped out of her house.
"Phew. Your right about that. It sure is hot." Spike said before putting one scaly foot on the brick sidewalk before yelping from the blistering heat of the pavement.
"Spike! Are you alright?!?" Rarity cried out.
"Hot! Hot! Hot!" The tiny dragon said as he hopped from feet to feet before jumping onto the pony's back.
"Spike?"
"I'm fine. Just- ah! My feet!"
The small dragon's feet was indeed smoking red with 1st degree foot burn. Ironic seeing that he was a dragon.
"Oh my! We better get you some medical attention."
The pony paused before stepping onto the searing hot pavement with her bare hooves.
"Um, I have a better idea." She said before lighting up her horn and with a flash they disappeared.
Instead of appearing at the local hospital they reappeared at Sugarcube corner.
"Uh, Rarity? This isn't the hospital."
"It appears that I've may have overshot it a bit. None of the less I'm getting you the medical care you need. We just need to find someone is all."
"Why don't we go inside so I can at least get a sundae."
"How is that going to ease your burning feet?"
"it's not. It's for my burning mouth. (laughs)."
"(giggles) I guess that's true."
The two entered the shop. Inside Pinkie pie was nose deep in a giant bowl of ice cream.
"Hey guys! Heard about my world's famous Mt.Flurry did ya!"
"Well spike was hoping to get some ice cream if that's what you mean."
"I'll take it! Come on, hop in Spike!"
Spike immediately dove head first into the bowl splashing Pinkie and Twilight who was reading at a table.
"Spike be careful!" the purple mare cried out.
"Well what do you expect me to do? It's as hot as the sun itself out there."
"It is? Huh, It wasn't this morning."
Twilight stepped outside to experience the same treatment Spike received.
"Ow! Ow! Ow!" Twilight said retreating back inside.
"Told ya."
"This doesn't make any sense. I'm going to talk to the princess about this."
True to her word the young mare was on her way to the royal city Canterlot.
In Canterlot city:
"Sister can you please explain what you are doing with the sun?" The moon mare asked in an annoyed tone.
"Luna I promise you I have no idea what's going on." The sun mare answered in a reassuring tone.
"So you have no clue of why the sun is positioned closer to the earth?"
"It's what?"
Celestia rushed over to the balcony where the telescope was kept. Peeking through it the large sphere was slightly larger than normal, proof that the lunar mare was correct.
"I don't believe this. What could this mean?"
The sun princess spent the whole morning on the balcony trying to figure out the situation with the sun. Several guards asked her to come down for lunch but she declined for this was a critical problem that needed to be solved. A few minutes of surveillance showed that the sun wasn't satisfied in it's new position and it was now moving closer.
"What do you mean the princess isn't seeing anyone?" Twilight asked in annoyance as the royal guards that protected the sun princess's door refused to move.
"It means she isn't seeing anyone and we are here to respect her wishes. "One guard said.
"We say this with all due respect princess Twilight." The other said.
"But-But the sun it's-"
"Moving closer. Sister already knows about that. She's doing her best to deal with the situation." Luna said as she entered the hallway from another door.
The guards bowed at her presence.
"Twilight I suggest waiting until dear sister decides to come out."
The purple mare nodded and walked back down the hallway with Luna. Back on the balcony Celestia herself was having trouble staying awake from constant surveillance. The balcony was filled with books and a large chalkboard she used to write equations to help find a possible solution.
"No, that won't work either. (yawns) I must stay awake, I must....stay....."
Her thoughts were cut short when the sun seemed to be coming closer to the castle, but instead of being a giant flaming ball it turned into a small white sphere. It flew closer to the princess's balcony, she was about to approach the floating sphere when it burst into a bright flash and everything went white. She awoke a few minutes later.
"What, what happened?" She asked groggily.
Looking up at the sky she was amazed to see the sky a blank white, no color to speak of. It was like looking at a blank canvas.
"What's going on? Am I Dreaming?"
"Dreaming? I don't think so." A voice answered.
Turning around Celestia came face to, well, chest with a rather large figure. She quickly backed up to see what was in front of her, standing in front of her was a stallion. He had a light shade of orange coat as well as a radiant orange and red mane that flickered like well attended fire. He wore gold plated armor similar to her royal guard's uniform that covered a vast majority of his body. But what really caught her off guard was how tall the stallion was for she was fairly certain that there was no pony as tall as her! His size actually dwarfed hers by a few inches giving her quite a challenge to actually look at his face leaving her with only a view of his chin.
"Okay, I must be dreaming, She thought to herself.
I ensure you that you are not A masculine voice echoed inside her head.
She jumped back in surprise, her wings flaring as if she was about to take flight then and there.
"You heard my thoughts?" She asked.
The giant looked down at her, his 12 inch orange horn stopped glowing which explained his ability to hear thoughts and nodded while finally giving her a view of his face. He had a rather large smile on his face as if laughing at the whole situation. She noticed that his eyes were a combination of orange and flakes of gold that glowed and flickered like his mane.
"Allow me to introduce myself. I am Hyperion, Titian God of light and wisdom." He spoke in a regal tone very similar to Celestia's.
"A Titian? You mean like the ones in Tarturus?"
The giant placed a hoof onto his chin before answering.
"Well, yes and no. Yes I am indeed a titian of great legend but I wouldn't dare categorize myself with those that deserve to be placed behind the many bars of that place. Although they are my family."
"Oh my. I didn't mean to offend."
"Oh no. In fact I thank you for asking. For I struggle for finding the answer to my own question: If I am a Titian, must I be punished like the others?'
Celestia paused and thought about it for a brief second.
"No need to give an answer for I have already learned that all Titians must pay for their wrong doings. And even though I have been proven innocent of any wrong doings and I have been stripped of my position as keeper of light by Starswirl the bearded and made the sun my prison. He then gave the sun to the royal family as a gift, passed down from generation to generation and as the years went by I continued my slumber.....until now that is. So now a new question now forms in my head: Why was I brought back.....and why now? So many questions, so little answers."
The large stallion sat down on his haunches, the sudden weight shook the balcony a little but he didn't seemed to noticed as he sighed deeply to himself, his fiery mane seemed to have die down a little. Celestia felt great sympathy for the giant, she walked up to him placing an elegant hoof on his broad shoulder.
"I think you were brought back for you have not yet completed your destiny. So fate has given you another chance."
The giant's mane bursted with new fiery life as his eyes grew wide.
"Another chance. Yes. Of course! How could I have not realized that!"
The large stallion politely trotted past the princess towards the balcony's edge. Suddenly two large, fiery wings the size of billboards erupted from his sides.
"Thank you Princess! I'm sure our paths cross again soon. Farewell!" the stallion called back.
And with that he jumped off the ledge and began flying through the white sky leaving a blazing orange trail as he flew over the horizon.
"He's....an alacorn? Hmmm." She said right before realizing she forgot to ask him about the missing sun!
