A series of short stories I may or may not write in the middle of the night
Lost Princess
Load Full StoryNext ChapterEverything was dark. Everything was covered in an inky blackness that made everything hard to see or hear or feel in the cool darkness. It was sickly warm and the foul scent of death hung in the air. A steady trickling could be heard, a sound almost as revolting as the taste of blood in the air. The room wasn't so much as a room, as it was tomb. It was a square room barely eight feet tall and five feet wide, covered in crumbling earth, which was barely seeable for the only living creature in the dark.
This creature wasn't as feral as it sounded. It was actually intelligent, though naive and ignorant. In the cool but sickly darkness, the creature's magenta eyes gleamed faintly, like a cats. A faint sound could be heard: thump, thud, thump, thump.
Thump, thud, thump, thump.
It was an uneven beat, like that of somebody limping.
It made the room of earth feel even more like that of a tomb.
Suddenly the thing in the dark let out a hiss and louder beat could be heard:
Thump-thud-thump-thump.
The sickly warm yet cook darkness soon became full of the echoing sound of limping.
The sound of something hard on metal could be heard in the earthen room along with the sound of a faint gasp. The sound of something hard on metal repeated four times and then became a continuous click, click, click, click.
The sound of panting stirred the air and light started to pour onto the face of the creature as it pushed itself through the tunnel that made the click, click, click, click sound.
A loud thump echoed as the creature pushed itself though the opening and crashed into something alive.

The guard gasped in surprise as the mare crashed into her. She barely stayed on her hooves as the mare pushed through the suit of armor and into her side.
"Arrow!" A gruff voice called out to her.
"I'm fine! But you better come see this!"
Arrow leaned down and cautiously prodded the made with the pommel of her sword and clutched her left hand into a fist as the ragged made groaned.
The made suddenly snapped backwards and onto all fours, her figures splayed out and her muzzle contorted into a snarl. The horn upon her brow gleamed fiercely and her eyes glowed with a feralness that suggested that she hadn't been around other ponies in a long time.
A stallion skidded over beside her, his armor clicking loudly. "Woah...do you see her back?"
Arrow narrowed her eyes at the mare's back and took a shocked step backwards.
The mare had a unicorn horn and pegasi wings.
Arrow's gaze suddenly flew over the mare, looking at every detail; her mane, her tail, her eyes, her overall appearance. Then her gaze stopped at the mare's cut--open pant leg.
"Cardinal, do you see her cutie mark?"
The stallion started to ask if she was kidding, and then looked and nearly dropped his sword.
" That...that can't be! She's dead!"
" They never found a body... Do you realize who we've found?"
" I think I do..."
" We found Twilight Sparkle."
