Twilight turns the moon pink

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

The moon was pink. No it wasn't even pink. It was hot pink.

And it was all Twilight's fault.

Well, actually, not really, because she had done it on purpose.

The Crystal Tree Library --they were working on the name-- was overflowing with new books sent from Princess Celestia; books on history, fantasy, time travel, sci-fy, adventure, romance, comedy, tragedy, you name it. They were old, new, re-owned, and some that Celestia had saved from bad owners were in such sorry states that the Princess of Friendship herself would spend hours re-writing the books word for word in matching print and book jacket; the thread for the pages was even the same.

In the middle of the eye-catching crystal walled library was Twilight Sparkle, happily scrawling down a note to Sunset Shimmer. With a final flourish, she put down the period, read it over twice, and then snapped the book shut. The image of Princess Celestia's cutie mark flashed once and then stopped.

The Princess of Friendship then turned towards an ancient oak table and scowled. She glanced all the way up the tower of reports, letters, requests, and forms. Lifting the first pile of reports off the stack from the IN box, Twilight stacked them evenly in front of her and after quickly looking over each paper to make sure it was in the right stack, she set to work. She was honestly surprised at how fast she went through the all papers, making notes on the important things she would have to go check out later and the minor things she would leave to the citizens of Ponyville. By midday Twilight had finished looking through all the reports and put them in the OUT box. She walked over to the clock and tapped it once, stopping it thirty-seconds away from going off and resetting it back to four hours.

Twilight grabbed the stack of letter's next. It was much smaller than it had been last week. The first two had the crystal heart seal of the Crystal Empire, the third sealed with formal red wax, and the last two were scrolls, sealed with a red ribbon and a golden coin with a hoof print inpression on it.

Twilight opened the letter sealed with the red wax first and read over the delicate curving words. It was a letter from her mother and father, asking how she was settling in at her new castle, if she was getting enough sunshine and being out with her friends, who was going to be in the guard force for her castle(they had insisted that she get one, and the other princesses had suggested it would be good to have some protection from thieves and assassin's and the like, after the Sunset-Shimmer-Incident when the night guard in the Crystal Palace in had been under stocked and Twilight's crown had been stolen), and if she was getting enough time to practice her magic and read.

She smiled and teleported the letter up to her bedroom to write a repose later when she had the time.

Twilight then opened the two letters from the Crystal Empire. One was a invitation to Cadance and Shining Armors anniversary. The other was a fan letter for Spike. Twilight snorted and with a flash of her horn it disappeared with a pop! Twilight stained her ears and they swiveled towards the kitchen when she heard Spike cry out with happiness from getting more fan mail.

She then opened the last three letters and tossed one in the trash, it having been a invitation to Prince Blueblood's birthday. She then levitated the second letter towards her face and scowled. She preceded to throw this one in the trash as well. Another letter from a stallion who wanted to woo her.

She moved the forms down in front of her and pulled out her pen. Twilight's left wings snapped out and tapped the top of the clock, which sent the timer running. She signed three forms for more books, two forms for guard applications, six forms for new furniture, one form for imported Zebrica herbs, and form for Pinkie Pie's imported party supplies. They were getting so expensive, that Pinkie Pie and Twilight had to pool their bits.

Twliight's wings snapped out again and stopped the clock, three hours and fifteen minutes left. She flicked her wing and it tapped the clocks button, once again resetting the clock. She glanced up through the window to see the sun had hardly moved.

Finally, Twilight grabbed the pile a requests, pausing to put the forms in OUT box. She counted only three. One from Derpy to get the Cakes to bake a new kind of muffin, one from the Cutie Mark Crusaders to get the say Twilight had stopped Discord to become a day off at school, and one from a pony named Sunny Skies to--

Twilight looked over the last one three times:

Dear Princess Twilight Sparkle,

Could you turn the moon pink?

Sincerely,

Sunny Skies
