Chapter 25: Doomsday

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

18:00, Saturday, Manehattan

The lights of the city suddenly flickered off and died. This was not normal for the usually very bright city so something was certainly wrong.

A ring sounds out as I sit in the emergency broadcast tower. It then starts to send a slightly static message to everypony in vicinity.

"To whoever out there hears this, this is the radio station K-R-1 near Kansas. The whole city's without power, and I'm struggling to get out this broadcast, but this is important!" The man broadcasting pauses for a second before continuing. "There's been a zombie breakout from one of the science labs in District 4 a week ago. The whole city's already dead, and I'm locked in at the radio station's headquarters, and I think..." He pauses again, before starting once more. "And I think some of these fuckers followed me. They are fast, but I think they can't get up there. So, if you can hear this, please, come here as fast as you can, and get me the fuck out of here!" His tone starts to become much more panicky. "I have no food, I have no water, but I have a gun, and I don't know if...(unintelligible)" My co-host looks at me bewildered. I'll admit I was not expecting that. The radio continues again suddenly as it restarts the broadcast all over Equestria. "I think they're breaking through the doors! WAAAGH! *gunshots*" The broadcast goes to static. I slowly turn my head to look at my co-host and shrug fearfully.

Perspective: Brandon Stryker

Having heard the emergency broadcast that sounded all over Equestria and the low groaning outside before, I have been flying in my Hawker Siddeley Harrier VTOL (Vertical Takeoff and Landing) jet, waiting for the inevitable. Since I'm wearing the flight suit from Grand Theft Auto 5, my breathing is fine. That is, until one of my engines is struck by thunder and my jet start to spin out of control.

"Mayday! Mayday! This is Hawker 27! We're going down!" I yell into the communications protocol, receiving no response but static. The horizontal and vertical stabilizers break off as I crash into a skyscraper backwards. Luckily, i am not injured but unluckily a few ponies are almost killed. Also unluckily is that the jet is tipping from one side of the building as shattered glass is all that greets the concrete flooring. As if to give payback, one of the support beams crushes through the cockpit, shattering the glass and proceeding to start constricting me. Using my only exit out, I slip to the side where the beam is not covering me and exit that way. I almost end up falling to my death but one of the ponies catches me with their hooves and starts to pull me up. The pony, a crimson earth pony mare with a lavender mane looks like she was going to say something but stops as I pull off my helmet and throw it. My face is bloody and my lip split, but I ignore it for now. There are more important matters that I have to attend to...

"Are you okay?..." The unknown pony asks me. She tries to approach me but I feign weakness and push her back softly.

"No." I lie.

"Good." The pony who turns out to be a changeling drops their disguise and tries to bite me. I unholster and load my Glock 18C machine pistol in half a second with my superior reflexes and then unload the whole magazine into the oversized insect. This changeling turns out to have both wings and a horn but that doesn't matter anymore. I check her body for signs of a heartbeat and find none. She took about 12 shots to the head and 8 to her chitin. I eject the used magazine and magic automatically places a new one for me. Thank god for that unlimited ammo spell. It only works if I have the energy and have specified the ammo, where to get it from and how much. Luckily it doesn't drain me more than levitation would on a piece of paper. Due to the loud noise a few Wehrmacht infected with the virus that makes zombies enter the room slowly, looking for the source of the noise. That is, until their maliciously glowing yellow eyes find their way to me. Two of the zombies are Wehrmacht Kriegsmarine (Think of it as us navy but nazi versions) and the other is Heer (Army). Surprisingly though, I didn't see any Luftwaffe. This has got to be a joke though.

"Who did this to you?..." I say in German, more to myself than others.

The thing is, I didn't actually expect a response... They must sense my power somehow. Or they must just know...  "Richtofen." The Heer Nazi says before collapsing, dead. The other zombies start devouring his flesh almost instantly. Taking this as my cue to leave, I try to teleport away but nothing happens. I start the ridiculous process of brainstorming unil I just give up and be a cheater by noclipping. Sue me. My noclip stops in the middle of the city... I guess you did sue me. Fuck you to. I try to deploy my parachute and then I realize that this isn't Grand Theft Auto V. I try to noclip again and jackshit happens. "I HATE GRAVITY!" I scream in a CJesque fashion before hitting the ground and blacking out.

My alarm clock that wasn't working before suddenly decides to work. Except this alarm clock is not any ordinary alarm clock. Oh no. This clock plays the actual sound of a .50 cal sniper rifle going off. R.I.P. my ears.

*Gunshot that is guaranteed to wake up anyone for 10 miles.*

"Warning: Emergency code red! All spartans report to the command deck." A voice says over the blaring air raid sirens. i immediately look around and realize that I'm back in the haloverse. This would only happen in times of severe emergency. But what could be so bad to bring me here? I immediately get in my recon armor and leave my room. I run past various crewmen and encounter a few spartan IVs I've never seen before running to the same location. We get there quickly and a spartan I recognize as Sarah Palmer is there. Well. That just narrowed where I am. But not by much.

"We've detected a slipspace rupture inside the Infinity!" Rolands says. His eyes widen when he sees me. As does everyone else for some unknown reason.

"Identify yourself spartan. And remove that helmet."

"Does service number 86343-98141-LC ring a bell?" I say as I look at my own service number. A service record appears on the projector panel which shows my service record, eye color, name, height, rank, date of death, my face, and more information. My helmet pops off with a hissing sound and their jaws drop.

"I don't see why this is a big deal. I never died. The rest is classified."

"Well." Captain Lasky starts.

"It seems that there are no possible methods of replicating the rupture that transported Commander Stryker here. The method is classified."

"Alright, so what is the real reason we are here?"

"You are under arrest for harboring classified information from the United Nations Space Command."

"Just to prove a point." I unholster my M6G Magnum. All the spartans immediately aim their weapons at me.

"Put the weapon down." Lasky orders. I point the magnum upwards and then at my face.

"Are you insane?" Roland asks.

"Check my psychological report." I say right before I pull the trigger. The bullet enters through the side of my head and exits through my skull. And then my skull heals almost immediately. Lasky's eyebrows raise while Roland looks at me curiously. "Huh. I thought I would be dead by now." I fire the rest of the magazine into my head but nothing changes. I drop the magnum and sigh. "I guess it's true." I say blankly.

"What?" Roland says while everyone else just stares at me mouths agape.

"Spartans never die." I start.

"They are just missing in action." He finishes.

"So are you going to arrest me now or what?"

"That would be unwise." A familiar voice says. Dream. Something tells me she has been watching this whole time. "Your orders have changed. The commander will not be arrested. i am going to maintain control on the situation from here on out." She says in her unsc service uniform. But something is different. Her ranking shows as Commander while mine shows as Lieutenant Commander.

"Who ordered you?" Commander Palmer asks, not breaking her grim staredown with me.

"Lord Hood."

"You're joking. What could possibly make you two so important that the whole United Nations Space Command can't know?"

"Are you questioning Lord Hood?"

"No. Just curious."

"Yes." Lasky unholsters his service pistol and shoots the floor, snapping the spartans out of their trance. "Spartans, I want you to belay my last."

"Yes sir!" They acknowledge as they return to their previous activities.

"I'm not going to press the issue." A bullet hits me and I black out again.

"Weird, that was a few months ago." I mutter to myself as I regain consciousness. The sky isn't black anymore and it looks like the apocalypse didn't cause any damage. Fuck. I wanted to wreak some havoc. "WHY CAN'T I DO ANYTHING DANGEROUS?! THIS FUCKING SUCKS!" I scream, louder than the RCV as I open my eyes. I come to the point where I realize I'm in a hospital room.

Must have gotten wasted. Of fucking course. Though since there is nobody coming in yet it is safe to assume I'm alone. For now. I check my energy level readings and they are an all-time high. Celestia's levels are usually at 15,000 but right now mine is at 28,000... Mine are usually at 12,000. How the fuck did this shit happen? Then again I hadn't gotten sleep for weeks that much be the reason why the are usually so low. Hmm.

"You noticed your energy levels as well? Since you were knocked out after your obnoxious actions I have been creating battle plans. I've scanned this area by integrating some of your magic into me. There is no exit. Whoever brought you here obviously doesn't want you to leave." Jeneva says cautiously.

"So... Should I stay or should I go?"

"I... Don't have a good answer to that." Jeneva pauses. "And that is what scares me. Every since your magic infused into me I have gained more freedom outside of my normal protocol. I feel like a whole new... person."

"Well, while you feel like that I'm going to prepare myself for the worst." I call upon my magically enchanted recon armor and let it piece itself together upon me once again. After the standard procedure is done I unholster my M6G Magnum and scan my motion track for enemies. "Extend my motion tracker range, would you kindly?" I order politely.

"You are not going to like the results..." She says cryptically. My motion tracker shows blips. Possibly hundreds of them. Even a few thousand for all I know.

"What are they?"

"I have no idea. The imaging shows bipedal creatures of unknown origin. Wait. I'm receiving a transmission." Jeneva says with confusion clearly evident.

"Thi- Too many- We're outnumbered!" The transmission finally clears to my relief and starts replaying. "This is Canterlot Seven! There are too many of them! We're outnumbered! We need all the help we can get! Our location is the midsector off the suburbs!"

"Looks like we're going to have to do some breaking and entering." I say in an Hungarian accent that highly resembles Jorge. Jeneva rolls her eyes.

"You and your cheating at life. I'll never get used to it." She says sarcastically.

"Yeah? Well. If that is how it's going to be then let's go classic." A huge thud and an M-134 Minigun is on the floor. I channel my magic and it now uses my rift to feed ammo into my little friend. (It's a fucking huge ass gun!) I pick it up and put one hand on the handle and the other on the trigger. A belt appears and starts connecting to my pocket. Eh, I've seen weirder. The barrel starts spinning and bullets start flying out at a ridiculous speed, literally grating the walls like cheese. A bunch of bipedal changelings run in an get mowed down worse than mold. "FUCK YOU GUYS!" I scream as I kill everything in sight. Blood sprays here and there. A pair of changelings manage to successfully latch on to me, however, that is all they can do before they are thrown into the fire and obliterated. I feel an aura try to envelope me by a changeling with a horn but that is stopped dead in it's tracks as I jump while spraying at her. Yes I know. How the hell am I jumping with a huge ass minigun in a half a ton pair of armor without getting crushed? Uh... I have no answer to that. I keep killing and killing until I'm pretty sure I'm fully coated in blood and organs from eviscerated changelings.

Perspective: Princess Celestia

White. All white. Blank noise. This is torture. Is this what my sister felt all those years ago? I feel alone.

I was locked up in this chamber for a time I cannot remember how long. I never thought Queen Chrysalis would come back... I could not be more wrong. Peace is a beautiful thing. You maintain it and let it prosper. But there cannot be peace without sacrifice. Please... Somepony save us...

I'm distracted from my thoughts as I hear a loud buzzing sound. But not the kind you would hear from drones or other insects. No, it was more of a mechanical type. Hope fills me as I see my prison smashed to pieces. Luna comes out from the cloud of smoke.

"Come Sister, we shall make them pay for their deeds." She says as she helps me to my hooves with a grim but determined expression.
