Chapter 1 - Chain LettersView OnlineThe Pinnacle of evil.Chapter 1 - Chain LettersDiscord was enjoying a lovely cup of honey with Fluttershy in her cottage, everything was normal, the birds were singing, Angel was nagging, and the evil creatures were lurking on the edge of everfree, and the mailpony was knocking. The mailpony was knocking? Discord blinked to the door, and received a single black envelope, sealed with blood red wax, with a menacing print on. The mailpony left, and Discord shut the door and returned to Fluttershy. He opened the envelope and found the following letter: Discord, Read this letter in private at all costs I am forming something that will remind you of your old days, remember those? When you weren’t friends with those stupid ponies. Meet me on the 18th of May, at the tallest dragon’s mountain, and we will talk. An old, but brief friend. Discord looked puzzled. “What’s wrong” Fluttershy asked. Discord had to think of an answer, he couldn’t tell her, but maybe he should? He decided not to tell her until he found out what was going on on the 18th of May. “I don’t get these silly chainmail letters, they’re a weird custom.” “Oh.” Fluttershy replied “Just ignore it.” Discord used his power to pretend that he destroyed the letter, when really he just moved it. This seems curious… he thought.
Chapter 4 - A dark awakening – Part 2View OnlineThe Pinnacle of evil.Chapter 4 - A dark awakening – Part 2An earth shattering shudder went through the palace, knocking vases of stands and paintings from walls. The throne Cadence was about to sit on exploded into darkness, slowly spreading down from the throne, and onto the floor in front, and outlining a square on the floor, which soon dissolved into a dark staircase. Cadence knew it was the secret that Sombra had hidden while he was in power, but it wasn’t meant to open on its own. A deafening roar was heard from the bottom of the pit, which shook the ground and started rushing down the black stairs. Another roar, and the stairs shook again. Cadence tripped, and tumbled down half the stairs. She could barely move. She saw what was at the bottom of the stairs. What was causing the roar. What was indeed, King Sombra. A horn glowed. A black crystal grew. A gasp was heard. And darkness fell.
Chapter 5 - UproarView OnlineThe Pinnacle of evil.Chapter 5 - UproarNews of King Sombra’s return and more importantly, the Princess’s death spread like wildfire across Equestria. The elements of harmony and the princesses were eager to react, though they thought that too much action would cause even more panic. Shining Armor lead the war to keep Sombra away from the rest of Equestria, unfortunately many were lost, including some crystal ponies. Meanwhile a certain siren was asleep in the saddle hotel, her fellow sirens probably miles apart. They had split up after their defeat at Canterlot High, to hopefully regain their powers without sharing it between the three of them. When she woke, she went down stairs to find an eager receptionist holding a black envelope with a blood red wax seal, with a pony stamped into it. She went over to some seats and sat down. No address was on the letter, but she opened it anyway. A black letter fell out onto her lap, which read: Adagio Dazzle Read this letter in private. You have been involved in many of Equestria’s greatest downfalls, and now I want you to help me in the biggest yet. Meet me on the 18th of May, at the tallest dragon’s mountain in Equestria, and we will talk. A helping friend. After she had finished reading, a weight was still left in the envelope. A map fell when she tipped it upside down, which she figured was of Equestria. This is going to be a blast she thought.
Chapter 6 - A Party PooperView OnlineThe Pinnacle of evil.Chapter 6 - A Party PooperPinkie Pie was enjoying her latest party, well, more of an after-funeral-party but it was fun nonetheless. It was on such a grand scale that it could even rival the Grand Galloping Gala! Of course she couldn’t have managed it on her own; she had the help of her favourite party pony, Cheese Sandwich, and the princesses as well! Meanwhile, a certain princess had just returned from her duty of raising the moon, and was just about to re-embrace the party, when a guard charged up to her. “Your highness!” The guard uttered through his fear. He presented a black envelope. Luna recoiled as it was thrust into her face; she recognised it. After a few moments of trying to remember the more recent things (not being banished to the moon) she remembered that Fluttershy had written to her about a similar one her friend Discord had received. She turned and read the letter, before dashing off to her room to sob. A while later Princess Celestia noticed the disappearance of her sister and went looking. Several members of the royal guard, including Shining Armor himself insisted she was accompanied, but she declined every request, it might be something personal. She started down the corridor when she heard sobbing from her sister’s bedroom. She pushed open the door to see Luna face down on her bed, wings folded, room darkened. Only the light of the door lit them both, before the faint blue glow came from the younger. “Luna?” Luna screamed. “Luna?” Celestia repeated, more urgently this time. Luna extended her wings, spun, and let the room fill with more blue light. Celestia slammed the door shut just in time for the bolt of blue magic to miss her skull, and ran. The door burst open and a blue blur knocked her to the side, which soon went on to terrorise the rest of the party. Celestia got up and followed the princess, and were soon fighting above Canterlot Castle as they had done thousands of years ago.
Chapter 7 - The Journey - Part 1View OnlineThe Pinnacle of evil.Chapter 7 - The Journey - Part 1Discord couldn’t sleep that night, tossing and turning in bed, thinking of what would come tomorrow, what time he would have to be there, if anyone else was going to be there, and to be honest, he was thinking of not going. After a mere few hours of sleep, the sun rose over Ponyville, shining obnoxiously through Discord’s window. As he woke he suddenly realised there was one thing he had not accounted for, or more accurately, pony. Fluttershy. He heard her moving through the wall between her, and quickly scrawled a note on some parchment and left it on the front door as he left. “Fluttershy, clestai wants me in cnterlot, be a while.” A long way stood between them and the Dragon Mountains. Queen Chrysalis had prepared a small team of soldiers to protect her on her journey. It was currently midnight on the 18th of May, and they were in the southern swamps, still in Equestrian Territory. “Your Highness!” The team’s scout called. “I can see the mountains!” “Are you the one that tell which one we need to go to from a single glance?” “No…” “Then why did you think that information would be useful to me?” “I.. Uh…” The scout stuttered. “Exactly” Although, around a hundred yards later, there was indeed a wonderful view of the mountains, perfect for Carden, who was the group’s navigator. A moment of awkward silence passed as he surveyed the mountains, but he soon pointed a hoof towards the tallest mountain. “Let’s get going shall we?” The queen said, without the slightest hint of enthusiasm in her voice. As they reached the foot of the mountain, which was very tall, they took flight, risking the failure of the entire journey – if they were seen by a dragon in its territory; they would be dead quicker than Pinkie Pie can say cute cuddly cupcakes are quite cool ten times. They were about seven eighths of the way up when they reached a large cave, not inhabited by a dragon, but by a cloaked figure and what Chrysalis recognised as a draconequus from her mythology books. “Invitation.” The voice said from beneath its cloak. It really was amazing how King Sombra had managed to cast a spell on the crystal heart, to form a shield powered by hatred, but he had to leave that now. He had planned his route as it was a long way away. His method of transport was simple, he was a unicorn after all. When he decided it was ready to leave, he did. The King shot the heart with a spell and the shield was down, soldiers running towards him. Too late. A shard of black crystal shot up from the ground beneath King Sombra, and he was out of sight. He hadn’t tested this method of transport, which was probably a bad idea considering the speed and precision he needed to hit the ground just as he raises it to meet him. The advantage of his method was it was quick, he was already nearing the mountains and it had only been about half an hour. He was soon coming over the swamps, and faced a challenge; judging where to land. He couldn’t hit a tree, or land in a pond, so after a few bounds he just decided to hoof it. The mountain was indeed tall, so he returned to his previous method of transport. He scaled it in a couple of bounds, landing in a cave, where three figures stood. “Invitation.”
Chapter 8 - The Journey - Part 2View OnlineThe Pinnacle of evil.Chapter 8 - The Journey - Part 2Adagio Woke on the 16th of May to her alarm clock. It was time. Luckily whoever sent that letter had planned for the portal at Canterlot High to be open at the right time, so it was far simpler to get to Equestria than it might have been. She checked out of her hotel and got a taxi to Canterlot High, the other side of town. It was a school day, so she had to dodge some people as she worked her way to the portal, some may recognise her. When she got to the portal she took a cent out of her pocket and gently tossed it through at the portal. It went through. She would look a bit stupid if she tried walking through it and it was solid. The siren went through to find two Canterlot guards staring at her in fear. “Hello Gentlemen. I hope you have a lovely day.” She said as she fired a beam of destructive magic at the roof, and bounded through it. The Dazzling’s pendants were destroyed in the human world, but they didn’t need them here. Adagio transformed into her siren form and started flying. Soon after she started flying, a navy blue alicorn flew past her, chased by a white one. The Princesses? She forgot they still existed. Celestia caught sight of her, and by the looks of it fainted. She fell all the way down to the river below and landed with a satisfactory splash. Adagio caught up to the blue princess and started a conversation. “What are you doing out here?” Okay she admitted to herself that wasn’t very friendly, she might shoot me. “I- ugh, I just need to go somewhere” The princess replied C’mon Adagio, think, friendly conversations. “Where are you headed?” “The Dragon Mountains…” She trailed off “Huh, same here, weird huh?” Adagio realised she was very bad at this. “We both seem to be headed there with some kind of evil intent, so… why don’t we head there together?” “That would be a good idea.” The duo rested in the forest near Dodge Junction, and continued their journey in the morning. They woke to a very loud rumbling coming from the direction of Dodge City. “Earthquake?” Luna asked, startled. “We’ll see” Adagio said as she walked to the edge of the forest. “Nothing looks wrong.” Luna stepped out onto the road and looked at the desert surrounding her, not finding anything out of the ordinary. The rumbling got louder. And louder. And louder. Luna turned just in time to see the herd of buffalo charging towards her, but not in time to take off and fly. She spread her wings only to get hit by the herd, throwing her to the side and injuring her wing. “Come on Luna, let’s go.” Adagio called impatiently. “Sorry, it’s just my wing.” She said through gritted teeth. “Can’t you cast some sort of spell to make it better quicker?” “I can, but it will take around a day to heal properly.” Luna said before casting the spell that would heal her wing. “I guess we’ll just have to walk it.” Adagio complained before transforming into her pony form. During their trip through the swamp they had used a vine to bind the princess’s wing, so she wouldn’t use it instinctively. Once they had left the swamp there was only the long climb between them and their destination. Luckily, there was a small collection of huge black crystals, hosting places of rest for the two. Luna was just about to clamber up onto the second crystal when she slipped and fell, sliding halfway down the distance they had already climb, crying out as she did so. Adagio noticed a head poke out of the cave above, before she had to jump away to dodge the stairs that had erupted out of the mountain. Luna’s mind was racing, someone else was already there, maybe it was the sender of the letter, maybe it was someone who had intercepted the meeting, and was going to kill them both as soon as they got up. No, if they were going to do that they wouldn’t have given them stairs. When the pair reached the top of the stairs, a dark, cloaked figure stood at the entrance to the cave. “Your invitations, ladies?” The figure asked. The princess and the siren both retrieved their invitations and passed them to the cloaked individual. “Right, now we may begin.” The voice said as it took down its hood.
Chapter 9 - The MeetingView OnlineThe Pinnacle of evil.Chapter 9 - The MeetingTrixie Lulamoon took down her hood to reveal her flowing blue hair, nestled around her horn and the amulet around her neck. “Ladies, Gentlemen,” “Trixie?” Discord questioned “Indeed. I invited you to join me on this occasion to discuss what should be done about the “good” in Equestria. We are the greater individuals; we should not be supressed by the elements of harmony, and the beliefs of the ponies who cower behind them. Luckily, we only have two princesses to get out of our way, but I suspect one may be more difficult than the other, considering the help of her petty friends.” Discord cleared his throat. “Oh no! I haven’t done introductions! Everyone, I am Trixie, once a travelling magician. This famous draconequus sitting next to me is Discord.” Discord Waved “Then there’s her majesty Queen Chrysalis, his highness King Sombra, the one and only Princess Luna-“ “Just call me Luna, I have abandoned that title.” Luna butted in. “as I was saying, there is the one and only Drama Queen Luna and finally the infamous siren, Adagio Dazzle.” “That was the best use of our time here I feel.” King Sombra said sarcastically. “Well if you can’t deal with my customs then you may as well leave, you’ll just be another obstacle for use to overcome.” The king shut up at the thought of having to face this force. “Anyway, we cannot execute the first of our plans without someone else joining our party.” “And who might that be?” Luna asked. “Tirek.”

It’s very difficult to attack griffons, because of their sheer size, almost twice the average changling. As soon as she had thought of the perfect idea, that was shot out of her head, as a messenger charged in. “Your Highness!” the messenger called from the other end of the hall. “I don’t have time for another silly message from the mild west.” She snarled “I don’t care whether they have a proposal for a joint war effort.” “It’s not the mild west your highness!” “Who then!” “I-I-I don’t know, it looks scary.” “Wimp.” She snapped as she swiped the black envelope from the messenger’s hooves. She studied it very closely, and found that indeed, the messenger could have had no clue who it was from. It was as black as her skin, and had been sealed with pony blood coloured wax. She opened it to find: Queen Chrysalis, Read this letter in private. I have heard you have much against the ponies, and are seeking revenge, I can help you. Meet me on the 18th of May, at the tallest dragon’s mountain in Equestria, and we will talk. A helping friend. Queen Chrysalis put on a menacing look, and not to her surprise, the messenger ran away, to be caught by guards and brought back to her. One of the guards asked, “What is it your highness?” the right guard asked. “Some… Private business” The changling marched from her throne.
Chapter 3 - A dark awakening – Part 1View OnlineThe Pinnacle of evil.Chapter 3 - A dark awakening – Part 1Delivering a letter to a dead person was difficult for Mr Post. He found that the biggest problem, was not that the receiver was dead, but the fact that they didn’t really live anywhere. He was working in the crystal empire that month, and was told to give two letters to the palace, but for one for the princess to deliver. He was told he could read the first and as was the princess, and was confused, so he just gave it to the guards and told them to give it to the princess, along with the other letter. When Cadence received the letter, she did as it asked. She opened the magical trapdoor that King Sombra had created; she trekked down to the bottom of the stairs, and laid the other letter in the centre of the floor. There she watched it gain a light blue horn glow, and sink into the floor, creating a ripple of dark magic, like a stone in a pond. She waited for a minute and nothing else happened, so she trotted back up the stairs. King Sombra was having a lovely time whilst dead, because there was nothing that could bother him. Most ponies don’t know about what it’s like to be dead, as nopony lives to tell the tale. He was confined to the small area where his few remains where buried, which was peaceful but sometimes boring. He could have fun remembering the times he was in power, all the control, all the punishing, all those ponies fearing him. Those were the good times. A small, light blue glow appeared on the ceiling, and gradually got bigger and bigger and bigger until a letter popped out. He found a problem. He couldn’t really open the letter, as he was just a floating spirit. He hovered his vision over the letter and waited, silently judging this letter. Why would he receive a physical letter if he can’t touch it? Suddenly, the letter gained a light blue wand glow, like the one in the ceiling. The envelope opened, and the letter slid out and unfolded. It read: King Sombra, Read this letter in private. I have heard your tales of ruling empires, hating ponies, and making everyone your slave, I can help you return to your former glory. Meet me on the 18th of May, at the tallest dragon’s mountain in Equestria, and we will talk. A helping friend. PS. The gem enclosed will help you find yourself. As if the letter knew he had finished reading it, an emerald-looking gem slid out of the envelope. It started glowing green, brighter and brighter, until the glow started getting so bright it filled the entire room, starting to blind him, until it went so white he wouldn’t be able to find a black sheep. And then it was black.
Chapter 10 - ArgumentativeView OnlineThe Pinnacle of evil.Chapter 10 - Argumentative“Wait a minute; you want us to get Tirek?” A confused looking Discord said, “Do you not think you are capable?” “Of course I’m capable, I just don’t want to! I have friends!” “Well if that’s how you feel about our plans then you can go back your ‘Friends’ and watch our anarchy unfold in front of you!” “Okay, fine.” The others watched the argument in awe of how the god of chaos submitted to some random unicorn. “Okay. What's the plan?” Adagio asked. “Tomorrow, we go to the gates of Tartarus, then, Discord provides a distraction. King Sombra and Queen Chrysalis will hold off any guards, while I, Luna and Ms Dazzle release Lord Tirek.” “What about the key?” The queen of Changelings asked “Each guard carries a key on them at all times” Luna butted in. “Exactly why I asked you to come.” Trixie complemented on her knowledge. “That is all for today. Be up at sunrise tomorrow, we have work to do.” Trixie cackled, and with a stroke of her horn the floor opened up to reveal a small dormitory inside the mountain. “Trixie?” Discord called, “Well you may not of noticed but I live in Ponyville, with another pony – I would like to go back there, so that they don’t get suspicious of my disappearance.” “You may go.” And with that, Discord teleported away. Adagio led into the bedroom, where there was a fireplace in the centre of the room, with 3 bunk beds and a single bed surrounding it. The ponies claimed their beds, King Sombra and Ex-Princess Luna in one bed, Trixie alone in the bunk bed beside them, then Queen Chrysalis and Adagio Dazzle in the bed after that. Luna lay on the bottom bunk below King Sombra; she found it weird that she was siding with villains she had defeated with the help of her sister, who she was now against. Luna looked across the room to Adagio, who was sat up in bed, as if waiting for everypony else to go to sleep. Luna looked at her flowing mane, recalling the time she had spent with her on her journey, how confident she was, how she was helpful, and had that charm of a great friend- Wait Luna thought. I'm in love
