The Trixieverse III: Nightmare's Revenge
You are nothing.
That's every thought that was going through Trixie's brain every day after that fateful day. Before that day, Trixie thought she was the manifestation of perfection. Now she wasn't so sure. Trixie had just walked into the dreaded setting where her dreams had been crushed: Canterlot High. As usual the school was filled with hundreds of students attempting to get to their classes on time. Not so as usual, Trixie was quiet. She kept her head down and hoped that no one would notice her.
Trixie's friends, Spotlight Hog and Stage Hazard struggled through the crowd to see their forlorn friend.
Spotlight was a rather tomboyish girl with dark pink hair. She and Trixie had been friends ever since elementary. Back then, Trixie often got on her nerves but somewhere along the path, the two became the best of friends.
Stage had blonde hair and was very quiet aside from singing. She had admired Trixie and wanted to be like her someday. Naturally when the two friends saw Trixie's outrage at the show, they were overcome with worry.
"Hi Trixie! Um...you feeling alright?" Spotlight said as she saw her friend frown.
"Trixie...doesn't think you should see her anymore." Trixie quietly said.
"Well...why not?" Spotlight said as she put hands on her hips.
"Because." Trixie said as she attempted to walk away. But Spotlight quickly grabbed Trixie by the arm.
"Because why? You're our friend Trixie, we want to help."
"Trixie is weak! Ok? Trixie...doesn't deserve friends like you. You saw her lose. Trixie doesn't exactly remember what happened. But she lost. That much is clear."
"Trixie, we don't care if you lost."
"Well Trixie does!"
"Well, why do you care?"
"Because...because they care. They are all going to look at me in a different way now. I said I was the best and I lied. Best if I just say nothing."
"Trixie...you spoke in..."
"I know what I said! I mean Trixie did...I mean...I don't know." Trixie cried as she moved away into the crowd.
Amongst the crowd she saw a familiar face. A girl with a hair color of red and yellow: Sunset Shimmer. Just one of the people who ruined her dreams last night. Surprisingly, she walked towards Trixie and started to talk to her.
"Trixie? Are you okay?" Sunset said.
"Come on Trixie. Say something snappy!" Trixie thought. "The Great and...oh what's the use!" Trixie said as she stormed outside.
"Trixie!?" Sunset said as she watched Trixie flee out the doors. Sunset sighed. "Maybe one day..."
Trixie sat on the steps of the school in tears. She had cried so much, Trixie made her own personal puddle. She looked at herself and then crushed the puddle with her foot.
Just then, a chill came through the air. It was as if time itself had stopped moving. Every light was reduced to darkness. There was not a person to be seen. Despite this, a mysterious and soothing voice with no owner called out to Trixie.
"My, my, my. Why are you crying, dear child?" The voice asked.
"Trixie is...not perfect." Trixie wept. "Wait...a second!" Trixie exclaimed. "Who are you!?"
"I am the granter of wishes. Anything you wish, I can make come true." The voice explained.
"You're...like Trixie's fairy godmother!?" Trixie said as she jumped up from the steps of the school.
"I have no idea what that is, but sure. Let's go with that." The voice said as she broke her "gentle and kind" tone.
"So...what's the catch?" Trixie asked suspiciously.
"Catch? Who said anything about a catch, my dear. I certainly did not." The voice laughed.
"Usually when someone tells Trixie something, there's a catch." Trixie murmured as she remembered the Dazzlings.
"Oh no, my little one! You must not fear me. I am your friend. Don't you want to make a friend out of me? After all, friendship is magic." The voice quoted.
"Trixie's...friend? Trixie doesn't...have any friends. Not anymore anyways. Trixie wasn't good enough to have friends. She thought they were better off without her." Trixie said as she turned her head back to the ground and the puddle she made.
"Well, here is your chance to make a new friend. A powerful friend." Now when Trixie looked at the puddle, she saw millions of people cheering Trixie on as she performed spectacular feats of magic.
"A powerful friend? Can you make Trixie powerful too!?" Trixie asked.
"I can make you more powerful than you could ever conceive! Now, I only grant wishes to those in need. Those who have been wronged by others and I help to right those wrongs. So Great and Powerful Trixie, do you accept my friendship?" Trixie thought about it briefly, then answered.
"Yes, I accept your offer." Trixie said.
"Good! Now for your end of the deal."
"What!? Trixie didn't say anything about her end of the deal!"
"Oh? But your end of the deal and my end of the deal are the same. All I need to make you powerful, is a little home."
"Home? Sorry, we only have two bedrooms."
"Thats quite alright. After all, all I need is you."
"Me? Wait what!?" Trixie yelled before feeling a cold chill race through her. It was as if she had swallowed a thousand ice cubes. Suddenly, Trixie fainted.
"Oh, Trixie! I'm *coming for you.** Hahahaha! You thought you'd won last time. How preciously naïve of you. No one can defeat Nightmare. I trust you remember that. Nightmare is time. Nothing can stop time."*
The Trixieverse III: Nightmare's Revenge
Dear Trixie,
I know you have gone around and traveled to many of the abandoned temples...with sometimes unpredictable results. But I have now assigned Sunset Shimmer, a new visitor to our dimension, to your current task. Back on the subject of dimension traveling, me and the other princesses have been noticing disruptions, so to speak. Disruptions in time. We have been spotting things that were built somewhere appear in another place. I assure you this is no accident. I fear we may have acquired a new enemy. Possibly more powerful than your doppelgänger, as ludicrous as that must sound. Meet me at Canterlot where we can discuss this matter ourselves, face to face. I have absolute confidence in you.
Your's Truly
Princess Celestia.
Trixie read a scroll on top of a remote mountain where she was sure that she was the only one there breathing. It snowed harder than the citizens of Ponyville ever could fathom. The light blue unicorn looked off into the distance to see a white castle.
"Well, looks like my Winter Vacation is over," Trixie remarked.
"Where could she possibly be!?" Celestia asked herself, awaiting her new student's arrival. She had been in a panic after seeing one horrible sight: All the statues in the Canterlot Gardens being replaced by statues of Nightmare Moon.
"Tia, what is going on!?" a distressed Luna asked. Seeing the statues of her alter ego brought up painful, painful memories.
"I don't know, Luna. I don't know," Celestia replied, suddenly sounding somber.
"Nightmare was destroyed! That was the end of it! I cannot comprehend what caused this if it was not that beast..." Suddenly, as luck would have it, Trixie came into the room, running as fast as she possibly could.
"Celestia, what's going on?" Trixie asked, out of breath.
"Trixie, thank goodness you've come! As stated in my letter, we suspect a new threat is aproaching. A threat we thought Twilight destroyed." Celestia remembered the dark aura of that psychopath and every murder that monster committed. Not one night did it not haunt her.
"Who, or what, is this threat?"
"N-Nightmare," Celestia said with great effort.
"Nightmare Moon?!" Trixie gasped.
"No, just Nightmare," Luna replied. "Nightmare is a diobolical symbiote that is the self proclaimed 'manifestation of revenge.' She finds hosts, like me, and influences their minds."
"This time.........she has chosen you. An alternate you," Celestia explained.
"How do we stop her then? We don't even know where she is!"
"Actually, we do know of her whereabouts," Celestia said as she walked to a large mirror.
"The human world?"
"Yes. A place so helpless against a force such as the demon. But I fear you may not be able to handle Nightmare all by yourself. That is why...we're going somepony who has dealt with Nightmare before: you," Celestia explained.
"Me? But I've never met this Nightmare!" Trixie protested.
"It appears I have some explaining to do. In an alternate timeline, Nightmare returned. You, in that timeline, stopped her. I need you to go to that timeline and join forces with...um...yourself,"
"How...do I even do that?"
"You'll know what to do. I've already informed...er...myself of your arrival. Good luck." A massive burst of light covered the room, blinding Trixie.
Celestia led Trixie to a mirror. It looked very distorted and strange. Trixie pressed her hoof against the mirror. Suddenly her reflection came out in real life.
"Trixie." The reflection said.
"You're...me!" Trixie exclaimed.
"I know, I had the same reaction. But you have to listen! Something terrible is happening. It's in the human world!"
"What is this problem?"
The reflection paused for a minute.
"It's you....or to be more precise...the human you." The reflection responded gravely. Trixie stepped back, confused.
"Listen, I've just come back from this crazy time travel trip. Can this wait?"
"No time! I'm very sorry, Trixie Lulamoon," The second Trixie grabbed the first by the ear and dragged her unwillingly towards the mirror and dropped her in. She gave a nod to Celestia, to which she nodded back and headed into the portal.
The human Trixie woke up in a dark chamber, dazed and confused. She struggled to get up but soon found her legs were trapped by dark vines.
"W-where is Trixie!? She demands to know who is responsible!" Trixie yelled. But her only response was the sound of a clap. "Oh! You're a fan?"
"Of...sorts...." A mysterious woman walked slowly towards Trixie with a green glow in her eyes. She wore armor of purple and black and had hair as white as clouds. It did not take long for Trixie to realize that woman was herself. "I hope you don't mind. I changed your appearance a bit to fit my needs." Trixie shot her double a glare. Her appearance was familiar but her voice was not.
"Who...are you? Where is Trixie!?"
"You're in the deepest corner of your subconscious. As for my name...My name is currently Trixie Lulamoon but I went by a couple of other names I think you'll recognize. Puddles, Luna, Rarity, GOD, and very recently....Fairy Godmother." Trixie's eyes widened. "That's right, dearie. I'm your very special friend. I've been working ever so hard making you powerful. However, without your full cooperation I grow........weak..." Trixie's double suddenly clutched her leg, which had some sort of shadowy dust leaking from it. "But. Now that you're awake, we can work together! Come now, Trixie, you've been working your heart out, performing for your peers. And for what? For little miss Twilight Sparkle to save the day and snatch away all the attention you deserve. This is what YOU want. This is what I want. There are no downsides."
The vines suddenly let go of Trixie and dropped her to the ground. Trixie's double extended her hand.
"Do we have a deal?"
Trixie grabbed her double's hand.
"It's a deal, Miss...."
"Nightmare."
Trixie suddenly woke up in what looked like a war zone in the aftermath of a battle. Millions of dead bodies surrounded her. Trixie was a bit scared at first, but her eyes glowed green and she laughed and laughed and LAUGHED and LAUGHED and LAUGHED...
