Her Perfect Rainbow Mane

At and after the gala

I was carrying a pie in my mouth towards the VIP wonder bolt section. I got it from a nice, country mare. While I was there, I caught up with Spitfire.

"Always hungry after a show, eh Soarin?" Spitfire asked me.

"Yea," I replied, causing me to drop the big apple pie. I gasped and yelled, "My PIEEEE!"

Spitfire and I watched the pie almost fall to the ground. MY PIE! Then, mere seconds before it hit the ground, the same mare who saved my life saved my pie.

"You saved it," I said relieved, "Thanks," I slapped a smile on my face.

"Hey, no prob," the mare replied as I took the pie in my mouth.

I took the pie to the table as the two mares chatted about. I have no idea about what. As I was eating the yummy pie, I was mentally yelling at myself.

"Dang my shyness! I really wanted to talk to her!"

"Well, Rainbow Dash, it looks likes your skills saved us again. Well, at least they saved Soarin's apple pie." Spitfire said pointing her head in my direction.

I gobbled down the pie bit by bit. "om ohm om yea."

Every time I tried to talk to her, I was pulled away by fans to take pictures or just to talk. I really wanted to thank her for saving my life, and better, my pie! She saved my pie! I mean sure, I'm shy, slightly insecure, introverted, goofy, immature, and silly, but I'm kind, sweet, and I'm apparently nice.

When I finally got the chance to talk to the mare, she dived away towards a statue. She caught it but slowly dropped it, causing a huge fiasco. I almost tripped on a squirrel. I rushed outside, mainly because I have a fear of squirrels.

After what seemed about 30 minutes, I went back inside. I saw Spitfire, so I ran up to her.

"Hey Spitfire," I asked the orange mare, "where's that girl who saved my pie?"

"Oh, you mean Rainbow Dash? She and her friends left," She answered before going back to fans.

"S-she left?" I said to myself with a tone of sadness and confusion, and a disappointed face.

Spitfire nodded before turning her attention to the crowd of ponies. I was basically silently crying. Thinking of that mare. All the colours of the rainbow. Flashy, but not showy.

She also had that awesome cutie mark that I remember. Not that I was looking at her flank or anything! I, while still being upset, stepped outside for a minute, to look at the garden, of course, even though it was destroyed.

I touched a few of the flowers, well, the ones that weren't broken. The petals were golden, just like Rainbow Dash's headpiece and shoes. I picked it up and smelled it. It had the fresh scent of an ocean breeze, much like the mare's mane. I stared at the sky. Full of stars glistening. Sparkling beautifully.

I saw a rainbow streak across the night sky. It was attached to the mare who had saved my pie. Same cute face, same mane do same beautiful dress. It was her.

"Hey, Rainbow Dash!" I yelled out trying to get her attention, but it was no use. It was not loud enough for her to hear.

I unfurled my wings and tried to chase after her, but she was way too fast, even for a wonderbolt such as myself. I was panting and sweating. It was no use, she was way too far away by now, and I couldn't keep up, so I returned to the garden.

"Dang you Soarin! Dang you!" I yelled at myself for giving in and not persisting, "All you needed to do was go up to her and yell her name! It was that simple!"

After about 15 minutes there, I got bored and decided to just head off home. I straightened out my wings, and with one flap, took to the skies.

The cool night air rushed over my windswept mane, causing it to blow in the wind. My tail flickered every second I went farther. My wings started to ache with each minute of flying, but eventually it passed and I was home.

"Ah, home at last," I said relieved that I didn't fall as I entered the house.

I live in a small, remote neighbourhood located on the outskirts of Cloudsdale. Sure, I was a Wonderbolt and could afford much better, but I like it out here.

I trotted into my bedroom, closed all the curtains, got under the covers and tried to fall asleep, but I failed. I tried counting crystal ewes like any smart pony would, but that failed as well. I couldn't stop thinking about how I didn't even get to talk to her, especially after she saved my life, and better, my pie. Anypony that saved my pie was like a god or goddess to me.

Her sweet delicate voice rang through my head. Her beautiful sparkling moderate cerise eyes and her beautiful mane, no matter what style. This was all I could think about. She was sweet, lovely, loyal, strong, and kind. Everything I'm looking for.

The only thing I wonder is...does she like me back?
