Lost: The End Nears
The Return
Previous ChapterNext ChapterWe were all teleported just outside the Canterlot Palace and rushed inside. As we ran down the halls, an image of the green eyes from before flashed in my head, and a massive headache came out of nowhere, causing me to lose my balance and almost fall.
Lyra ran up to me. "Roe, what's wrong?"
"Nothing. Just a headache."
Twilight got suspicious. "Headaches don't just spring up out of nowhere. Are you sure you're alr-"
"I'm fine! I'm okay. Let's just go."
We continued going down the hallways, with Lyra next to my side in case I got another 'random headache' again.
We finally reached Princess Celestia and Princess Luna's throne room. After bowing down, Twilight brought it up.
"Princess Celestia...I have some terrible news. It seems as if that King Sombra was never really killed. Roe claims to have seen him, or his eyes and horn at least, in the Everfree forest."
"I also had a horrific and gory nightmare last night, and it had HIS voice in it. Also, who's King Sombra?"
Celestia got off of her throne and stood in the middle of the room. "King Sombra is an evil unicorn that used to rule over the Crystal Empire. He made the citizens of the empire his slaves, and brought hatred to all in the kingdom. Me and my sister, Princess Luna, had banished him long ago. He survived though, and attacked the Crystal Empire a few months before you had arrived. We thought we had killed him for good....but it seems as if we were wrong."
"Has he hypnotized anypony yet?" Princess Luna asked.
"He cast some sort of spell over my companion, Fang, and made him almost kill me and Lyra. He ran off into the Everfree forest afterwards." I said.
Two guards rushed in through the doors. "Princess, two citizens of Ponyville claimed to have seen a nightmarish looking creature in the Everfree forest! one of them claims that there were three of them, and one of them turned against them and ran deeper into the forest after the creature fired a purple and green beam of magic at one!"
Celestia just stared at them for a moment. "Send a message to Princess Cadence and Shining Armor to come here as soon as possible."
The guards nodded their heads and ran back out the doors.
Princess Celestia looked back at us. "You three, make sure that nopony enters the Everfree forest until we have dealt with King Sombra, but don't tell anypony about his return. Just tell them that there is a dangerous beast in the forest, and that nopony is allowed inside the forest without proper authority."
"Can I tell the other elements about him?" Twilight asked.
The two princesses exchanged looks. "Fine. But make sure they don't tell anypony." The younger princess said.
We all promised not to tell anyone about him. After heading outside, I had another image of those eyes in my head again, giving me a bigger headache. The thing that was different though, was that this image was longer, about three seconds. I fell down from the sudden pain that had shot through my head.
Lyra helped me up and Twilight grew even more suspicious. "Are you one hundred percent sure that you're fine? You don't look well at all."
"I'm fine Twilight! There is nothing wrong with- AAAARRGH!!!!!!" Another image flashed in my head again, same one as before, but this time much more menacing, much more pain, and much more instant.
A voice filled the area around us. It was his. "Your pathetic. You are one of the most powerful beings in Equestria, yet you can't barely handle a small headache, so how do you think that you could stop me? Worthless. I should have killed you when I had the chance."
"Where are you?! Come out and fight me like a man, or, a...uhm...a...a stallion? I don't know, just show yourself!" I retorted as I grabbed my katana and concentrated hard, enveloping myself with a white glow.
"Oh look. Little Roe here is trying to act tough...how cute..."
The area around us went dark as black smoke of some sort seeped in through the woods. We all ran out of the smoke and ran into the forest, barely being able to see which direction we were going.
When we all escaped the smoke, we were just outside the entrance to Ponyville. We were all confused, but it was starting to get late. Twilight went to go tell the rest of the elements while me and Lyra just went to get some rest.
After I got home, I took off my belt and katana and placed it in it's usual spot, on a small rack next to the door. I went upstairs and plopped into bed with my clothes on.
Pretty soon, I had fallen asleep.
I woke up in my bed. To make sure this was a dream, I pinched myself. Yup, definitely a dream.
"Alright Sombra. What do you have in store for me today?"
Just then, I realized something. This must be a lucid dream. I just pinched myself, and felt nothing. I got up and went downstairs.
Something weird was going on though. The stairs didn't seem to end.
"What is up with all of these stairs? Is he obsessed with them or something? Maybe he isn't really in here."
The steps and walls behind me started to collapse into nothingness as two green eyes were coming my way from the black abyss behind me.
I frantically ran down the stairs as every step I took left blackness and the eyes got closer and closer. However, I quickly realized that running straight ahead wasn't such a good idea. The walls and steps in front of me started to collapse as well, leaving only black nothingness where there were once stairs.
Pretty soon, the steps under me collapsed and I fell down. Falling. Falling. Still falling. I looked around, which seemed stupid since it was only blackness around me. I found a mint colored object falling from far away to my right.
I looked down again, and found leaves getting close. I flew right through the leaves and landed in a small clearing. I was in a forest.
"Alright, guess that this isn't completely a lucid dream after all." I looked around. All I saw were trees, leaves, branches, and more tree related things. Walking around, I heard a familiar scream.
"Lyra?! Lyra!" I started to sprint throughout the forest, trying to find the source of the scream. I had managed to find a dirt path leading to some bushes, and decided to take that, since it was way easier than trying to run through a dense forest.
Before I can even reach the end of the trail, Lyra runs my way from the foliage with a look of sheer terror on her face.
"Lyra? What's going on?"
She stops in her tracks. "Roe? Are you real? Are we both dreaming at the same time? I feel like we're both dreaming! Oh, and also, do you have your katana with you, because I'M BEING CHASED BY A SCARY SHADOW MONSTER THING THAT I AM PRETTY SURE IS KING SOMBRA!!!!!!!!"
"Correct......Lyra Heartstrings........" The voice returns. "Your lucky this is only a dream........because if it wasn't......you would all be dead."
The area around us disappeared as three large boulders fell behind me and to our right and left, leaving only one way to go.
The large black smoky beast seeped in through the bush and headed down the path. The world started to shake like mad.
I woke up. Sitting upright in my bed, I started thinking of what just happened. "Me and Lyra were both in each others dreams? How? Can that kind of stuff happen here?"
I just brushed off the thought as a coincidence and went downstairs to finally try some cereal I had bought about a week ago. 'Wheat Flakes' I think is what it's called?
I tried a small bowl. It tasted.....wheatyish.
I knew that we had to stop King Sombra at all costs. I started thinking on what we should do later while eating my cereal.
