Chapter One: Meeting

Load Full StoryNext Chapter

Hi. My name is Chris. I don't see how it's important, but whatever. I’m currently sixteen and a junior in high-school. I was recently sucked into a magical land full of ponies known as Equestria.

It was a rainy, crappy, Saturday morning, at like, 8:30AM. My dog was sleeping on my bed, and I was on my laptop reading some facebook bullshit about how some chick's boyfriend didn't see her from only 500 feet away. It’s all quiet, as my dad’s at work, and my mom is a late riser. So I figure I have a few hours to myself, nice and quiet.

Christ was I wrong about that… I didn't realize how wrong I would turn out being.

I had gotten up to go to the kitchen and get some food, when I hear a loud *POP* come from outside. I thought ‘Fuck, do I really have to go and see what’s going on? It almost sounded like a lightning shot, or a sonic boom.’

I go outside, and check it out. I look in the sky, and what do you think I see? That’s right. You guessed it.

It was a whole lot of nothing. Just the drizzle coming down, and the clouds high above.

I think to myself that it’s just sleep deprivation, as I hadn’t been sleeping well the last few nights, and it’s making me hear things. But this sounded so real.

After I ate my hearty, champion-worthy breakfast of a roll of Oreos, I returned to my room. I saw my dog in my parents’ room, fast asleep. I figure maybe I just heard him jumping off my bed and hitting my desk. (He can take it, the dog’s a fuckin’ tank.) Turns out, I was wrong for the second time that morning. It wouldn't be the first time, but that's an unrelated topic.

After I returned to my room, I see a charred mark on the floor, and I think about what could have caused it. ‘Could a lightbulb have exploded? No, that would be closer to the wall. What the hell?’ I thought. But then, I look into the corner, and see a purple/lavender mass rummaging my bookshelf.

I silently tiptoe to my airsoft cabinet, which I keep loaded for when I have games with my friends. (Airsoft isn’t the most effective, but against an unknown object, who knows?) I sneak out, with a full magazine, and load it. I pull the slide back, and aim.

But suddenly, it mass turns around, and who do we know that is lavender? Yep, it’s Twilight Sparkle, in my room, reading my books. She doesn’t notice, so I put the gun away. I tentatively say,

“Hello?”

“Oh, hello. Are you the human who lives here?” She says, looking up to see me.

“Yes, I am. I see you are enjoying my book?” I reply.

“Yes! This ‘Harry Potter’ you read is very interesting!” She says to me, eyes beaming at the book "Oh I'm sorry, I never introduced myself. I'm Twilight Sparkle, student of Princess Celestia. And you?"

“I'm Chris. Well, Christopher, but everyone calls me Chris. And as for Harry, I never really got into 'em myself."

“Well why not? They’re a lot like the ‘Daring Do’ books we have in Ponyville.”

“Hm. So if you don’t mind me asking, Why are you on Earth?”

“Ah yes!” she replies “I’m here because I need help. Can you help me?”

“I guess so. What do you need?” I ask, not sure how this will end.

“I need your help, because one of my friends, Fluttershy, is becoming more and more depressed over time. I have been studying your world, and you seemed the kindest to help her.”

I stand there, dumbfounded. Me and my friends knew I was NOT the nicest person. Was Twilight Sparkle really asking me to come to Equestria to help Fluttershy feel better?

“Okay, let’s go. Let me just grab some supplies, and we can go.”

I go downstairs, and grab some basic supplies I'll need there. My Swiss army knife; my favorite school hoodie; a few cans of coke, (I can deal with it warm), and some money. I don't know the exchange rate, but I hope it's similar. I keep my airsoft pistol in my back pocket, with a few spare magazines handy, just in case.

A few minutes later, I come back to my room, and see Twilight reading away at 'The Sorcerer's Stone'.

"What part are you up to?" I ask,

"He just got to the zoo, and used magic to open the snake pit" Twilight replies, looking very please with Rowling's work.

"Well, you can bring and keep the books, if you'd like." I tell her. It's not like I would ever read them.

"Really? Oh thankyou thankyou thankyou!" She exclaims, bouncing up and down. "Sorry."

"Nah, it's okay, I was pretty ecstatic when I found out I could keep the manga for my video games." I explain

"Mann-guh? What's Mann-guh?"

"Manga," I begin to explain, "is a Japanese; That's a country on Earth; reading style based on a TV show or a video game."

"Ohh, so it's like a book version of them?" She asks, interested in a new book

"Yes, exacty."

"Can you bring some of that, too?" She asks, looking happy

"I don't see why not." I tell her.

Her face lit up, and I grabbed a small bag from the closet, and packing some manga, like Dragon Ball, Zelda, and Death Note. As we get ready to go, I remember about the time.

"Ah crap," I say "I gotta tell my mom somehow."

"Oh don't worry, you don't have to bother with that. I took care of her, she'll know exactly where you are and the reason."

"Alright then, off we go to Equestria," I say, with mixed feelings about the whole thing.
