The Origin Of Prince Dusk

Chapter 1: Luna's Prodigy

It was a dark and cold night in Canterlot, Princess Luna had just raised the moon. Princess Celestia had tucked herself into bed early for tomorrow was the first annual Celestial Sunrise. Luna had left the castle for her night time patrol of Canterlot. Luna had her route drawn out for her on a map by Celestia. As Luna walked down the dusk lighted streets of Canterlot she came across a small box containing a small colt. Luna examined the colt, he was a cobalt blue Unicorn whose mane was jet black with small patches of midnight blue. Luna looked around trying to see if there was anyone that might have dropped or left the box.

“Hello is anyone out here?” Luna said

There was no answer just the sound of crickets chirping. Luna then looked down and picked up the box with her magic and she brought the foal to the castle for the night. The next morning was the first annual Celestial Sunrise, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna stood on a raised platform. All the citizens of Canterlot surrounded the platform to watch the two princesses.

“Hello everypony and welcome to the first annual Celestial Sunrise, my sister and I are so honored to be here.” Princess Celestia said happily to the large crowd of her new subjects.

“Luna can you do the honor of lowering the moon?” Celestia asked her beloved sister.

Luna then nodded and she flew a few feet into the sky and used her magic to lower the moon. The crowd looked at Luna in shock and awe at the night princesses power. Celestia did the same and flew and raised the sun. The crowd then started cheering at the two princesses. As the sun was being raised and the moon were being lowered they both stopped in the sky level and a bright white aura shown from both of them. Princess Celestia, Luna and the crowd all covered their eyes from the almost blinding light. Lunas’ room in the castle was also shining with the bright white aura.

“What is going on Luna.” Celestia said.

“I don't know Celestia, something is wrong with our magic.”

Celestia tried raising the sun with all her magical power, but nothing worked. Luna then looked up to her room in the castle and flew up to it. The first thing Luna noticed once she got to her room was that the box was the source of the light. Luna approached the box and saw that the foal that she had found the night before was behaving strangely. His eyes were pure white and was surrounded with the white aura as if under a trance of some sort. Luna saw this and was scared. Luna tried using her magical power to bring the young foal out of the trance. Luna put her horn to his forehead, then the foals body and eyes came back to normal.

Once the foal was back to normal, Luna looked back at the moon and used her magic to lower it more. Her magic was finally working, once Celestia saw the moon move down she used her magic and raised the sun. Luna sighed with relief and carried the foal down with her to the platform. Celestia saw the foal and asked her sister.

“Where did you find him Luna?”

“Last night sister, on my night patrol.”

“Aww he’s so cute.” One of the mares in the audience cooed

“Princess Luna, what are you going to call him?” Another mare asked.

Luna then looked up, thinking of what to call the foal. Luna then remembered what time she found him.

“Dusk, his name is Dusk.”

“Dusk, good name little sis, Prince Dusk.” Celestia complimented her sister.

Luna then held the foal up with her magic, showing the audience the newest member of the royal family. A Purple unicorn in the back of the audience smiled and walked off amongst the large crowd. As the crowd left Luna looked at her new adopted son.

“My little Dusk.” she said smiling.
