Chapter 2: Luna Meets The Mother

The next night after the first annual Celestial Sunrise, Princess Luna once again had night watch duty. Luna left Dusk with her sister in the castle. Luna looked around the dimly lit streets of Canterlot, smiling she resumed her patrol. But her patrol was taken to an abrupt stop, Luna was stopped by a mysterious pony wearing a long black hoodie. Luna became scared.

“Who are you, show your face.” Luna demanded

The pony then flicked her head to remove the hood and show her face. The pony Luna met was a purple unicorn mare and her mane was yellow and midnight blue. Luna looked at her and asked.

“Why are you here, explain yourself.” The scared princess demanded.

The mare smiled and bowed.

“Greetings your majesty, my name is Velvet Shine.” The mare said

Luna looked at Velvet with a look of confusion.

“Why are you here?” Luna asked Velvet.

“I just want to thank you.” Velvet said smiling.

“Thank me for what?” Luna asked.

“Thank you for taking in my son.” Velvet said.

Luna then looked at Velvet in shock.

“Wait, your son is Dusk.” Luna said in shock.

Velvet then looked at Luna and said.

“Yes, was my son.” Velvet told the shocked princess.

“I left him in that box because I am very poor and I live on the street, I am barely surviving, I gave birth to him in an alleyway because of an incident .” Velvet was then cut off by Luna.

“Wait why, what do you mean incident?” Luna asked.

Velvet sighed and started crying.

“I was raped by some sick colt, and about 8 months later I gave birth to Dusk.” Velvet said crying.

“Wait, why do you keep calling him Dusk, didn't you already name him?” Luna asked the sad Mare.

“No, I didn't think of a name for him.” Velvet said.

Luna then teleported in a hankey and handed it to Velvet.

“I didn't want him to live the way I was living, begging, sleeping with rats and possums, living in filth, thats why I left him for you.” Velvet said wiping her eyes.

Luna looked at Velvet and put her hoof on her shoulder, she smiled and said.

“I’m so sorry Velvet, I will find you a job and get you a place to live, and I will also give you a year supply of food, I have one question though, what is your dream job?”

“Well, when I was younger and wasn't living on the street, my mother taught me how to decorate cakes and make fondant figures.” Velvet said smiling.

“Great, I will speak to the owner of the Canterlot bakery and make sure you get a job interview with him.” Luna said with a smile.

Velvet then gave Luna a tight hug. Luna hugged her back, helping others always made Luna feel happy.

“Thank you, thank you so much.” Velvet said hugging Luna.

Velvet then released her grip on Luna. Luna looked at Velvet with a smile and said.

“Its the least I can do for you.”

“Thank you your highness, I have to go now, have a nice evening.” Velvet said.

“You too Velvet.” Luna said back.

Velvet then put her hoodie back on and walked off and  a few moments later she rounded a corner and disappeared. Luna then smiled and resumed her night patrol.
