The Origin Of Prince Dusk

  Chapter 3: Birthday Surprise

Eight years have passed and the young prince Dusk is now 8 years old and growing fast. Dusk is now learning math, history and english and is exceeding even Luna's' expectations, yet again Dusks teacher is Star Swirl the Bearded so Luna could understand why he was so smart. Dusk was most fluent in the practice of dark magic (shadow spells and manipulation of stars and the night sky.) The constellations existed mostly because of Dusk, and he was doing a really good job.

Celestia finally found her special soul mate, Prince Sunlight Sentry, he was a Pegasus with a orange coat and a metallic yellow mane and his cutie mark was a black shield with the sun in the center and crossed swords. Sunlight Sentry and Celestia were soon to be married at the end of the month. Sunlight Sentry was the captain of the royal guard thus the reason he and Celestia met. Dusk was Sunlight Sentrys’ favorite nephew, actually his only nephew. Dusk had a very easy and fun relationship with his soon to be uncle. Dusk and Sunlight Sentry did everything together, on weekends Sunlight Sentry would take Dusk to the park on the east corner of Canterlot to play. Luna and Sunlight Sentry were also getting along very well, mainly because he loves Dusk almost as much as she did and that he takes care of him when she isn't around.

This day though was especially special, Today Dusk was turning 9 so the royals wanted to plan something special for the young prince. Luna prepared the castle for Dusks party, Sunlight Sentry sent invites to all that wanted to attend Dusks birthday, and Celestia helped her sister. It took 3 hours for everything to get ready, including for all the guests to arrive. All the citizens of Canterlot were invited to Dusks party and all of them showed up in the castles ballroom area, all 150 of them.

Fifteen minutes later Dusk awoke and he went to the kitchen to get a glass of milk, as he does every morning. Dusk opened the refrigerator and saw the milk wasn't there just a note that read.

“Dusk, go to the ballroom-Mommy.”

Dusk then took the note and walked to the ballroom. As soon as Dusk entered the room Dusk looked around with shock.

“Good morning Dusk, come here please.” Luna said as she saw her son walk in.

All the citizens of Canterlot then bowed before the shocked prince.

“Happy birthday, young prince.” A grey unicorn colt said.

“Thank you sir.” Dusk said politely as he walked over to Luna.

Luna and Celestia then hugged Dusk. After Dusk was free of the hug, Sunlight Sentry walked over to Dusk and gave him a gentle noogie.

“Happy B-day big guy.” Sunlight Sentry said with a smile.

“Thank you uncle Sentry, and thank you everypony, I am honored to have all of you here as my guests. Dusk said happily.

All the guests then developed a look of shock, not knowing the prince had such a big vocabulary despite him being very young.

“Alright everypony, time to sing happy birthday for your and our little prince.” Luna announced.

“Okay everyone 1-2-3.”

Everyone in the room then started singing happy birthday. Once everyone finished Luna put the cake in front of Dusk. Dusk then closed his eyes, made a wish and then blew out his candles. Everyone cheered, and now the party could truly begin.

Dusk then started talking to others his age and older, including a group of ponies that had come to Dusks parties every year.

Two rambunctious twins, both with a red coat and spiked blue manes but one was a Pegasus and the other a Unicorn, the skilled Pegasus Heart fire and the loyal Unicorn Sparks.

An energetic Pegasus With a cobalt blue coat and spiky dull pink mane, the funny Retfael.

Another pair of twins, a rowdy Pegasus with a navy blue coat and a spiky forest green mane, the other, a unique Unicorn with a crimson coat and a short jet black mane. The silly Pegasus Airstrike and the headstrong Unicorn Pyre.

A kind Unicorn with a purple coat and a styled black mane with a purple bow in it. The beautiful Sparkles.

Yet another pair of twins, a brilliant Unicorn with a golden coat and a smooth sapphire blue mane, and a strong Earth Pony with a purple coat and a spiked jet black mane. The talented unicorn Music Heart, and the tough earth pony Martial Rose.

An intelligent Earth Pony with a cobalt blue coat and a smooth fiery red orange mane. The obstinate Liroar.

An entertaining Pegasus with a white coat and a short and messy brown mane. The smart and silly Shooting Star.

And finally a quick witted Pegasus with a emerald green coat and a spiked jet black mane. The athletic Vid.

Music Heart, Martial Rose, and Sparkles were fillies (female) and Liroar, Retfael, Shooting Star, Airstrike, Pyre, Vid, Heartfire, And Sparks were colts (male).

“You always throw the best parties Dusk, I'm so jelly.” Vid said

“Thanks Vid but please don't say jelly, its such an overrated phrase.” Dusk said.

Dusk then looked around the room and noticed a lone filly Dusk has never seen before standing in the far left corner of the room, she was a metallic blue coat and a short silver mane. Dusk sees this and tells his friends.

“I’ll be right back, guys.”

Dusk then ran over to the newcomer and asked her.

“Hi, whats your name I've never seen you here before.”

The new filly then looked up and saw the prince, seeing the young prince made her face light up and she smiled widely. The filly then looked away bashfully blushing, then she said.

“My name is Diamond.”

Diamond then looked at the prince.

“Diamond, that's a great name.” Dusk said as he looked into her beautiful pale blue eyes.

“Wanna’ come join me and my friends for party games.” Dusk asked her.

Diamond then nodded, Dusk then took Diamond by the hoof and led her over to the middle of the ballroom where set up was a limbo pole, with all Dusks friends and family were lined up.

First up was Luna with the bar at its highest point, Luna made it without a problem, next was Celestia who had a little bit of trouble because of her being abnormally tall, Celestia eventually made it but quickly lost her balance and fell but Sunlight Sentry was fast and caught her. Once Celestia was caught by her love she looked at him and the two shared in a long kiss. Everyone in the room let out an “Aww” at the two lovers.

Next after Celestia was Sunlight Sentry who made it without any problems. Then came Dusks friends whom all made it, Diamond on the other hand wanted to raise the stakes by lowering the bar. Diamond then started to lean her body back and walked under the pole, Diamond looked like she was going to make it without any problem but that vision was short lived as she soon lost her balance and started to fall. But Dusk was quick too and he ran to Diamond and caught her. Diamond looked up at Dusk and a blush then appeared on her face, Dusk was blushing as well as he looked down at Diamond.

Dusk then released Diamond and looked at his friends whom were all quietly laughing. It was now Dusk's turn at limbo, he made it with little to no problem.

“Okay everypony time for cake.” Luna announced.

Everyone then lined up for cake except for Dusk who was to get the first slice being the birthday foal. The cake that Luna and Celestia ordered was a 4 layered 3 tiered chocolate cake (of which was his favorite) with vanilla frosting and blue and white rose decorations.

Luna ordered the cake from The Frosted Mare, Canterlots most popular bakery, also the workplace of Velvet Shine who also made the cake. For 6 years Velvet had worked at the bakery and she even had made it on the cover of Pony Magazine and made 4 cookbooks titled “Awesome Cake Recipes”. Luna was very proud of Velvet for making it in the big city. Everyone loved Velvets cake especially Dusk.

“Dusk, how’s the cake?” Luna asked.

“Awesome, as always mom.” Dusk said smiling.

“Also mom, who made the cake?” Dusk added

“Somepony from The Frosted Mare made it sweetie.” Luna told Dusk.

“Oh okay but who specifically?” Dusk asked.

“Why do you ask?” Luna said nervously.

“I just want to know so I can thank him or her.” Dusk said.

Luna then started thinking of an excuse to tell Dusk to keep him from asking more questions.

“I’ll tell you when you are older, you will understand why then.” Luna said.

“Aww come on mom.” Dusk pleaded.

“Nope, my lips are sealed.” Luna said making a zipper gesture across her lips.

“Aww, okay then.” Dusk said sadly.

Luna felt bad for keeping the truth from Dusk but she knew that if she would've told him now he would have flipped out.

It was now time for Dusk to open his presents. He first opened the present from his mom which was a cobalt blue neck brace with a black diamond in the middle that was a little too big for Dusk. Next came his aunt which got him cobalt blue shoes also too big for him and with a black diamond that matched the design of his mothers and aunts she also completed the set by getting him a matching crown. Dusks friends saw this and Vid said.

“Aww man, we were hoping for you to get him something silver but now we can just get something else.”

“What did you guys get him?” Sunlight Sentry asked.

Pyre used his magic to levitate a silver band bracelet with a lapis gemstone.

Celestia saw this and was shocked considering she saw that same bracelet in the jewelry store and as she could remember it was priced at 700 bits.

“How in Equestria did all of you manage to afford this!” Celestia asked in shock.

“Well, my dad works for the jewelry store and he asked his boss if he would make an exception for a visit by the royal family if he cuts the price by a few hundred bits.” Airstrike said.

“So what was the final price?” Dusk asked.

“300 bits, and my dad helped us pay for it which meant we all had to pay only 145 bits.” Pyre said smiling.

Luna and Celestia were both in shock at the youngsters.

“But if you don’t like it Dusk we can always get another one.” Sparkles said with her head down.

“No no guys, I love it besides lapis is my favorite gemstone.” Dusk said happily trying to reassure his friends and cheer them up.

“Aw crap then, your mom and I are going to have to replace the black diamond with a lapis lazily gemstone.” Celestia said.

Luna looked upon her sister in shock, she had never heard her sister curse before. Celestia then realized what she said and apologized for her choice of words.

“Don't worry auntie I also love diamonds and especially one in such an awesome color.” Dusk said reassuringly.

“Thank you sweetie.” Celestia said.

Princess Luna then looked at Dusk with a smile and said.

"Dusk, do you remember when you were you younger you told me that you wished you were an alicorn?"

"Yeah, why?" Dusk said with a confused look on his face.

"Well your wish is about to come true." Luna said smiling.

Luna then used he magic to surround Dusk with a white aura. Luna stood smiling and a few moments later the aura faded revealing Dusk as an Alicorn.

The crowd gasped and Dusk looked at Luna and said.

"What happened, am I an Alicorn now?" Dusk said with a shocked look.

"Yes you are, you are now a true prince." Celestia said smiling.

Dusk then started prancing with joy around the room while wearing a large smile.

"This is the best day ever, I'm an Alicorn." Dusk said with joy.

"Thank you sooooo much mom, I love you very much

"You're very welcome sweetie and I love you to." Luna said with a smile.

“So boys how about that visit to meet your father?” Luna asked Pyre and Airstrike.

Pyre and Airstrike then looked at each other smiling.

“How soon can you make the trip.” Airstrike asked Luna.

Luna then looked at the clock at the large wall near the entrance of the room.

“Well the party’s gonna’ end in about 10 minutes.” Luna said

“We can make the visit as soon as the party ends.” Celestia said.

“Oh, also uncle Sentry I have something for you.” Dusk said with excitement.

Dusk then ran to his room and grabbed two presents both wrapped in red wrapping paper. Dusk then ran back downstairs to the ballroom and handed his favorite and only uncle the gifts.

“Open them, you’ll love them.” Dusk said smiling widely

Sunlight Sentry was confused but opened the gifts anyways. When he opened the gifts his face lit up, Dusk had given him a red neck brace with a moonstone gem on it along with a matching set of shoes and crown.

“Oh my gosh Dusk.” Sunlight Sentry said with a large smile.

“Well what do you think, I paid for them myself.” Dusk said with a large smile.

“What do I think, I love them and you knew my favorite color and gemstone.” Sun Sentry said with a large smile.

Sunlight Sentry then gave Dusk a very large and long hug.

“I know that your birthday and the wedding are in a few days but I just couldn't wait to give them to you as an early birthday/wedding gift. ” Dusk said.

Sunlight Sentry released Dusk and wiped a tear from his eye.

“Thank you so much buddy, this is why you’re my favorite and only nephew, because you go out of your way to make me happy, I love you so much bud.” Sunlight Sentry said tearing up.

Sunlight Sentry then gave Dusk another hug.

“These can only be worn during and after the wedding, okay.” Dusk told Sunlight Sentry.

Sun Sentry then nodded and said.

“Okay.”

“Deal.” Dusk added.

“Deal.” Sunlight Sentry said with a small chuckle.

“Oh and I can't forget about you auntie.” Dusk said.

Dusk once again ran up to his room and got a box wrapped in yellow wrapping paper. He then ran down to the ballroom and handed the gift to Celestia. Celestia opened the present and inside it was a sky blue tiara decorated with rubies, sapphires, emeralds and a large blue diamond in the center.

“Oh my, Dusk its absolutely beautiful.” Celestia said covering her mouth in shock.

“Me and mom went to the jewelry store on the east side of Canterlot to pick it up and I payed for this one too, I thought it might match the color of the dress considering it too is sky blue.” Dusk said smiling.

Celestia started to tear up and gave Dusk a long hug.

“This too is only allowed to be worn during and after the wedding.” Dusk told Celestia.

“Alright sweetie, can I at least try it on first.” Celestia said.

“Okay fine, you can try on your stuff too uncle Sunlight.” Dusk said.

Celestia and Sun Sentry then tried the gifts on and they fit both very well. Celestia and Sunlight Sentry then looked at each other.

“You look absolutely beautiful.” Sunlight Sentry said looking at Celestia in awe.

“Thank you honey and you are looking very handsome.” Celestia said back.

“All thanks to Dusk here.” Celestia said.

Celestia and Sun Sentry then gave Dusk one more long hug. This caused time to go by quite fast.

“Okay everypony party is almost over.” Luna told everyone in the room.

The guests then started leaving but not without thanking the royals and saying one more happy birthday and happy wedding to Dusk and the couple. Dusks friends were the last to leave but they all had one more question to ask.

“Hey Sunlight Sentry, Princess Celestia is it alright if we can come to the wedding?” Shooting Star asked.

“Well of course you can all come, and will Diamond, Sparkles, Martial Rose and Music Heart have the pleasure to be the flower girls?” Celestia asked.

The four fillies then looked at each other in shock.

“Yes of course, we would be honored.” Music Heart said as she and the other girls bowed.

“Great and Shooting Star, would you like to host the bachelor party, and Liroar would you like to be the ring bearer.” Celestia asked the two foals.

“Yes, we would love to your majesty.” Liraor said.

“And would the rest like to host the reception and plan the party.” Celestia added.

The others then looked at each other with large smiles on their faces.

“We would all be honored to your majesties.” Vid said.

“This is going to be so much fun.” Pyre said with excitement.

Dusks friends then left and soon after the room was full of confetti, party favors and wrapping paper.

“Well looks like we have a lot to do.” Sunlight Sentry said.

“I’ll get the broom.” Dusk said.
