Lies, Flight, and Wonderbolts

"Try and catch me!" A pink pegasus filly called to her friend. A lime green foal with a spiky emerald mane was chasing the pink one around the playground.

"I will!" The green filly laughed. She tackled the other foal, and they started rolling in the grass, laughing.

"That was so much fun,Blush Blossom!" The neon pink pony said happily.

"Duh!" Blush Blossom said. "It's fun because you're here, Electric Sweet!" Electric Sweet gave her friend an affectionate hug. She then moved her green gaze to a filly that was walking towards them. Her body was indigo, and her light blue mane was tied in a red ponytail. The fillies recognized her as Midnight Rain. She was a few years older than all the other fillies, and had already gotten her cutie mark.

"Well,well, well." Midnight said when she made it to Blush and Electric."Isn't it the two flightless blank flanks!"

"Be quiet, Midnight." Electric Sweet murmured.

"You really are entertaining." Midnight continued, not hearing Sweet. " Watching you playing and trying to get your cutie marks that you'll never have. It's all very funny." Blush Blossom cowered behind her friend, who was narrowing her eyes at the bully.

"We will get our cutie marks, you'll see!" Electric Sweet shot back. "And I bet they'll be something amazing! Unlike flying.What's so special about that? All pegasi can fly!"

"All pegasi but you two." Midnight sneered. "And if by 'something amazing' you mean being a nerdy pegasus who can't fly, then that's it!" The pink foal said nothing and just stared at the ground, prodding it with her hoof. Midnight smirked and walked away.

"Ugh!" Blossom groaned. "I can't stand her!"

"I don't know what her problem is, but it's definitely a big one!" Sweet complained.

Electric Sweet sat outside her house. She looked up at the sky. She sighed as she watched pegasi fly freely in the air.

"Midnight Rain is right," She cried. "I'll never be able to fly!" She put her head in her hooves and started sobbing.

Blush Blossom trotted around ponyville, carrying her saddle bags. She suddenly saw Electric Sweet crying outside her house. She ran towards her upset friend.

"What happened?" She asked.

"Blossom..." Sweet started. "Midnight was right. I won't ever fly.Not now, not ever!"

"Don't you say that!" Blossom scolded. "You will fly! Tomorrow, we're going out and you'll learn to fly!"

Electric Sweet wiped and tear from her eye. "Thank you." The two fillies embraced themselves in a hug.

"Are you sure about this?" Electric sweet asked nervously, looking up at the sky. "What if I fall off a cloud and can't fly to get myself up?"

"If you fall, I'll catch you." Blush Blossom promised. Electric Sweet nodded and took a deep breath. She opened her tiny wings and started flapping. A few minutes later, she was about a foot off the ground.

"I did it!" She cheered. "I can't believe it!"  Sweet looked down at her friend, who hadn't even tried to fly yet.

"C'mon! You can do it!" Sweet encouraged. Blossom reluctantly started flapping her wings. She only made it about half as far as Sweet before falling to the ground. Electric Sweet dashed to the ground as fast as she could.

"I-I think I hurt my wing!" Blush Blossom gasped. Sweet picked up her friend and ran to Ponyville hospital.

Electric Sweet paced nervously around the waiting room.Blush Blossom had done something to her wing, and she was being taken care of. Finally, the green filly walked into the room.

"What happened?" Electric asked.

"They think I've sprained it." She said, motioning at her bandaged wing. "Severely."

"WHAT?!!" Sweet gasped. "What if you'll never be able to fly?!!"

"Clam down," Blush Blossom assured her friend. "I'm sure it's not that bad!" Electric Sweet took a deep breath.  The two fillies smiled at each other. Electric's was a brighter smile, filled with hope. While Blossom's seemed sad and troubling, unusual for the filly.

Electric Sweet noticed this change almost immediately. "You'll be fine! I'm sorry I got you so worked up about this stupid idea. You will be able to fly, don't worry."

"Right..." Blush said, trying to be positive. She forced a smile, her eyes filled with doubt.
