Ch:1 I will become the god of the new world
Nightmare Moon was sitting on the edge of a cliff looking at the world of Equestria. She had been on the moon for a millennium, and is quite bored of it. She is no longer amused in taking the lives of the ponies who inhabit Equestria by using her Death Note.
A Death Note is a notebook in which the pony whose name is written in it will die. She created it herself after being banished there by the ruler of Equestria Princess Celestia to cope with her boredom of being stuck on the moon. Sadly for her she is no longer amused by taking the lives of the ponies who live in Equestria, and is out of creative idea's on killing ponies in interesting ways.
"There is nothing left to amuse me on this forsaken moon," she said to herself as she got up from sitting on the cliff.
An idea came to her mind just then. The idea to send a Death Note to the world of Equestria, and see how the ponies who live there will use it. Nightmare Moon thought it was the only way she was gonna get decent entertainment, so she made another Death Note using her magic. She then teleported it to a random location in the world of Equestria.
This should give me the entertainment I so desperately need, she thought.
Twilight Sparkle was in class sitting at her desk with her head resting on her head with a bored look on her face. She knew all the material that was being presented in class today. In fact she knew basically all the material presented in class everyday.
She let out a sigh of boredom.
"Twilight Sparkle would you care to translate the following text to modern Equestrian?" asked the teacher looking directly at the bored Twilight.
Twilight sat up and began to translate the text as she was instructed to do.
"Follow the teachings of Celestia and receive her blessings and so it shall be that the seas will again become bountiful and the raging storms will subside."
"Thanks miss Sparkle," the teacher said returning to his lecture to the class after thanking her.
Twilight sat back down in the same position as before looking out the window. In her field of vision out the window a object seemed to have come out of nowhere and fall to the ground.
Twilight's face then became one of shock as she saw that.
Where did that come from, she mentally said to herself. I got to check it out after class ends.
And with that the bell for her to leave class and go home rang. Instead of going home though she decided to check out the mysterious object that fell from the sky. The object was located in front of the school, and she trotted over to. She used her magic to pick it up, and looked at the front cover.
The front cover read "Death Note."
"Death Note? as in a notebook of death?" she turned to the first page. "How to use it: The pony whose name is written in this note... shall die! Now that's just stupid who in the world would believe that. Its not much different from those chain mails you get. The pony whose name is written in this note shall die? that's just bunch of crap."
With that she put the notebook back on the ground and walked away a couple of steps, only to turn around pick it back up. She put it in her bag and began to walk home. She was about halfway home when she got the thought.
There has to be something wrong with me to consider such a thing, seriously like this thing will work anyway
She continued to walk home. When she did get there she went straight to her room and turned on the news. The newscaster was talking about a pony who took hostages as he was trying to rob "The Bank of Canterlot."
Twilight thought now was a better time then ever to try out the Death Note, and see if it was the real deal. She grabbed the Death Note from her bag and set it down on her desk opened it. She read through more of the rules.
"This note will not take effect unless the writer has the person’s face in their mind when writing his or her name. Therefore, ponies sharing the same name will not be affected. If the cause of death is written within 40 seconds of writing the ponies name, it will happen. If the cause of death is not specified, the pony will simply die of a heart attack. After writing the cause of death, details of the death should be written in the next 6 minutes and 40 seconds."
"This is very elaborate for a prank notebook," she thought.
"The suspect has been identified as 42-year old Nasty Hoof, we are expecting the negotiations to begin immediately," the news reporter said.
As he said the name of the suspect Twilight wrote his name down in the notebook, and watched her clock for forty seconds. After forty seconds and no results twilight thought to herself.
looks like it doesn't work after all, what a shame.
Just then the newscaster said with a shocked look on his face. "Wait it looks as if the hostages from before are coming out what could have happened? We now have conformation that the suspect appears to have fallen over, and has died of a heart attack."
With those words twilight's face went to that pure shock.
"There is no way that just happened, this has to be some kind of mistake!"
Twilight's mom said from behind twilight's door. "Its six-thirty twilight, you have cram school tonight don't you?"
"sorry mom ill be down in a sec," Twilight replied.
Twilight was now at her cram school sitting the same way she was when she was at school earlier that day.
Its very unlikely, but if this Death note is the real deal. I have to try it again. It should definitely be another low life criminal, but not one that's to well-known. The authorities would probably cover it up.
Twilight looked up to see a blue blacked maned stallion harassing another stallion with a green coat and brown mane.
What about that blue stallion, would anypony care if he was off the streets. No i should definitely avoid the people who are close around me.
cram school was over and Twilight began to walk home.
You would think that the world would be better off without all these scum in the world.
Twilight looked across the street and saw three stallions harassing a mare.
"Hey hot stuff, come have some fun with us," said the biggest one of them all. He was a Pegasus with a black coat, and stubby tail.
"That's our Black Wing for ya, he knows how to pick the best gals in the crowd," said another one of the stallions.
The stallions pinned her down and were going to molest her on the spot, but Twilight had other plans in mind. The mare who was pinned managed to break free, and make a run for it. The stallions chased after her, but their leader black wing got hit by a carriage. He was dead from the impact.
Twilight was finally convinced the Death Note was real.
Well it seems it is my time to go back to the pony world now. My time of banishment is finally coming to a close. With that Nightmare Moon spread her wings and flew towards Equestria.
Twilight was in her room looking at the Death Note. She had written much more names when she got home knowing that the Death Note was real.
"It seems that you have taking a little liking to it haven't you."
Twilight looked over to the voice seeing a tall black coated, and blue aura-ed maned alicorn. She screamed at the sight of it and fell over.
"Don't be so shocked, after all what were you expecting. My name is Nightmare moon, and seeing that look on your face I can see you figured out that that's no ordinary notebook."
Twilight said regaining her composure "Nightmare Moon huh? well am not surprised in the slightest. In fact... Nightmare Moon, I have been kinda expecting you."
"Oh really," Nightmare Moon replied.
"yes really. I've already found out that this notebook is real, and that only makes me more confident in what am going to do." Twilight said answering Nightmares question.
"I certainly wasn't expecting this," said Nightmare shocked.
"I've prepared myself, I knew that this notebook belonged to you so am prepared for any consequences. So what are you gonna do now, take my soul?" Twilight asked.
"What do you mean? Is that a fantasy one of you ponies come up with. No am not gonna do anything that notebook is yours now." Nightmare replied.
"This... right here is mine now?" asked twilight.
"If you don't want it I can always take it back, but I would have to erase your memories of the thing."
"So I can use this notebook and not be punished?" asked twilight a bit concerned.
"Lets just say you will experience the pain and misery only those who used the Death Note will feel. Now you have something to look forward to when you die." replied Nightmare Moon with a grin on her face.
knocks came from the door.
"It will be okay, go on and answer it," Nightmare moon reassured Twilight.
Twilight opened the door.
"I figured you would like to have some apples, our neighbor brought some over for us," said twilight's mom
Whats going on, mom can't see the tall black alicorn.
Twilight's mom exited the room after giving Twilight a small basket of apples.
"That Death Note you got originally belonged to me, since your using it now only you can see me," said Nightmare Moon.
Twilight set down the basket of apples on the desk, and immediately Nightmare Moon ate a couple of them.
"I have one last question, why was I chosen for this task of bearing the notebook?" asked Twilight.
Nightmare Moon swallowed her apples then laughed and replied, "you actually think I chose you because you were smart or something. No, I just dropped my notebook onto Equestria because I was bored. It was only by luck that you happened to find it, though I'm surprised at how many names you've written. But I wanna know why you only wrote the cause of death for that guy who was hit by the carriage."
"If I don't write anything they only die of a heart attack, and that's one of the better features of the Death Note. Am going to rid the world of these scum, I already got rid of most of the worlds major criminals. I am going to make a world were only the good ponies will prosper while the evil die out," Twilight replied.
"If you do that you will be the only evil one left," Nightmare Moon said questioning Twilight's actions.
"I have no idea what your talking about, I am one of Equestria's finest students and I... will become the god of this new world." Twilight retorted Nightmares claim.
Its just as I thought, ponies are so interesting, Nightmare thought.
The pony whose name is written in this note shall die.
Twilight was having a flash back of the mare she saved from the pig Black Wing. She had a smile on her face remembering how she wrote his name in the Death Note, and shortly after doing so the Pegasus died from being ran over by a carriage.
"Sparkle can you please recite this line for us," the teacher asked cutting out Twilight's flash back.
Twilight stood up after regaining her composure. She then proceeded to recite the line as instructed.
"Having finally made his dream a reality, he was overwhelmed with joy. Both by the magnitude of his achievement, and by the joy and happiness that it brought him."
Twilight sat back down in her desk, and looked at her Death Note. She placed the Death Note in between the pages of her book for her class in order to conceal the fact she was not paying attention to the class. She had no reason to really. She knew all the material so she could ignore the class for the day and work on more important tasks.
The teacher said to Twilight giving her a wink, "Thanks miss Sparkle flawless as always, though am not surprised." The teacher returned to his class and said to them all.
"Class is about over so feel free to wait over by the door before the bell rings."
A couple of minutes later the bell rang excusing the students to go back home. Twilight got up from her desk, and put her belongings in her backpack. She took extra care not to let anyone see the Death Note as she put it in her bag. As she began her walk home Nightmare Moon followed behind her and said to her in a frustrated voice.
"How in the name of Celestia can you stand sitting there listening to that stallion all day? its so annoying."
Twilight made no attempt to pay attention to the alicorn talking to her, instead she continued on her way back home.
"Hey are you even listening to me," Nightmare asked in a annoyed tone.
"Don't talk to me," Twilight said whispering to Nightmare as she was walking home. "Unlike you I can still be heard and seen in public."
"Well aren't you quite the boring one," replied Nightmare.
A mare from Twilight's class walked over to her and asked, "Hey Twilight are you free today?"
"Sorry am awfully busy, maybe some other time," Twilight replied to the mare, as she continued on her way home.
"All you do is stay in your room all day. In what way are you busy," Asked the alicorn following Twilight.
"Of course am busy. In fact its very important." Twilight replied swiftly to Nightmare.
Twilight was sitting at her desk watching the news, and was writing down the names of any criminals that were shown. She was ridding this world of its scum. She smiled in delight over the progress she was making. She knew it was only a matter of time before ponies started to notice those of wrong intentions are being judged. Judged by one who is passing righteous justice onto the world of Equestria.
The newscaster started to talk in a more sad tone, "In other news Princess Celestia is not looking any better. Her old age has gotten to her these past couple of years, and she has a important message to give to the ponies of Equestria."
"Ponies as you very well know I am not the mare i used to be. I am old now and my power is slowly escaping me everyday."
Celestia, ever since you started living up to your old age these past couple years you have become soft. Punishment not being as harsh as it was before. Probably to cope with past deeds you done, and now you feel as this will fix anything.
Celestia continuing her speech, "I have decided to use the last of the power I have in me to put the sun and moon in a perfect cycle of rising and falling beneath the horizon. That way even after am gone the sun and moon will continue to rise. With using the last of this power within me I will pass on to the other side, but do not mourn over me my fellow subjects. For I will always be with you in spirit. Know that I will always care for each and everyone of you, even after I am gone."
With that her speech ended, and the news went back to the newscaster with tears in his eyes. "T-this... t-this is truly a shocking turn of events... I-I can't begin to explain what is going through my heart, our hearts. L-Lets... l-lets just have a moment of silence for our great, wonderful, and absolutely amazing ruler."
Twilight looked at the T.V in awe. She did not expect such a turn of events to happen. Words were not coming to mind over it. She turned around in her chair to see Nightmare Moon smiling in a very sinister way.
"Its about time that whorse kicked the bucket. After being banished to the Moon for a millennium over her I want nothing more then to see her finally croak."
Twilight after hearing her words finally had something to say on the matter. "Celestia is going to die... This couldn't be better. With her out of the way that's one less pony to worry about."
Nightmare replied to her statement, "aren't you even the slightest bit saddened over your leader?"
"No, she has only made the crime and injustice in this world worse. With her out of the picture I can make my ideal world much more real."
With that Twilight turned back around in her chair and continued writing the names of the criminals on the news, after they finished their water works over their princess.
"Why are you working so hard," asked Nightmare Moon
"I only have a small amount of time to work on this between the time I get home from school, and the time I go to bed. I still have to sleep in order for me to maintain my health and mental performance. I Also need this sleep in order to stay on top of my class and maintain my average. Not to mention that I need time to study here and at cram school. If i honestly want to make a ideal world I need to make the most of my time."
Knocks came from the door and a voice from the other side asked, " Hey Twily mind if I come in?"
Its Shining Armor, said Twilight mentally.
"What do you want brother," asked Twilight.
"Can you help me with my homework?"
"sure just give me a second." Twilight put the Death Note in her desk and went over to open the door for her brother. She opened it for him and he walked in. He was older than Twilight and a good deal taller, but he was definitely not as smart as her.
"Were doing some really tough work in math, and i can't seem to grasp it." Shining said walking over to Twilight's desk.
"I would be a little more careful if I were you. If somepony else touches that notebook they will be able to see yours truly," nightmare said as Shining was walking over to Twilight's desk.
She waits until now to tell me that bit of important information. That damn alicorn.
Twilight walked in front of shining to get to her desk first. She asked him when she got there, "So what exactly do you not quite grasp?"
"I think... all of it" He let out a giggle,
Meanwhile a Meeting between the guards was going on at their barracks on the matter of the unknown serial killer.
"There seems to have been a estimated death tole of a hundred relating to these recent murders," Said one guard
"Most of these criminals were either on death row, or had outrageous crimes on their heads. I say they got what they deserved," said another guard.
"Last time I checked murder was still murder," replied the first guard.
meanwhile while these guards were arguing over morals a pink mare with a poofy main and tail walked into the barracks, and walked next to a guard who she seemed acquainted with.
"What did i miss bossy-o" Said the pink mare.
"just a philosophy battle Pinkie Pie," replied a blue coated unicorn with darker blue mane, and golden colored eyes.
"Okie doki loki," said Pinkie Pie as bounced up in down watching the scene unfold.
"Autopsy results show that all the victims seem to have died from sudden heart attacks. If they died from stabbings or shootings we could at least have some leads," said a third guard.
the first guard replied to the third guard "Well it looks like we have no choice but to bring in T."
Pinkie's eyes widened and she turned to face her boss. "Whats this T pony they're talking about. He or maybe its a she shes they're talking about sounds so mysterious! I want to meet him or her, and be their bestest friend."
Pinkie's boss sighed and replied, "I forgot this is your first time at this meeting. we do not know T's real name or his or hers location is, but what we do know is that he or she has been able to tackle every case he or she has ever been on. He or she is our trump card."
Pinkie gasped and said, "That's, so, awesome!"
"Isn't that T character super arrogant taking on cases only he or she deems worthy. Besides we don't even know how to contact him or her," said yet another guard.
A mysterious voice coming from behind the crowed said "Believe me T is already making her move." He walked up to a table in front of the crowd, and put down a laptop and opened it up. The stallion was dressed up so much you couldn't even make out his face.
"So it is a her!" Exclaimed pinkie.
Everypony looked at her before she calmed down a bit, and they returned to see on the computer screen a old time Equestrian T insignia. A voice came from the computer, and it sounded very distorted in order to conceal the speakers voice.
"Greetings to you all I, am T." After a pause she continued to speak "The difficulty in this here task lies in its unprecedented scope. and make no mistake, what we see here are atrocious acts of murder. This case will not be solved unless i have the full support of all the guards in Equestria. I am also gonna require extra help from Canterlots royal guard.
The blue coated unicorn who was captain of the royal guard said, "why Canterlot in particular?"
"Whether we are dealing with a single individual, or a group. I believe that they may be hiding out in Canterlot, and ill be able to prove so after I directly confront the culprit," replied the distorted voice.
"A direct confrontation," asked the same unicorn.
"Now I would like to set up my investigation headquarters in Canterlot." said the distorted voice.
"That should take care of that," said Twilight
"So I figure you found a safe place for the notebook," asked Nightmare
"Yes I have. I put it in this drawer," replied Twilight. She opened it up reveling a diary.
"That just looks like a ordinary diary." Nightmare said questioning Twilight's actions.
"And you would be right, but under the diary there is a fake bottom. I made it where only my magic can effectively remove it. Along with being smart I am also very adept in the field of magic, so making it where only my magic effects a object is no problem."
Twilight went over to here computer and looked up a strange looking website. She then said," Nightmare come check this out."
Nightmare walked up behind her and looked over her shoulder. looking at the computer screen with interest.
"Legend of Kira the savior. Am gonna assume this has to do with you," Nightmare asked.
"Yeah, websites like this are popping up everywhere. I assume they got the name Kira from the word killer. I am not a fan of that, but if that's what their going to call me so be it. Us ponies in public tend to hide our true feelings in order to fit into society. Like for example if somepony was asked at school if murderers should be killed. They would probably reply with no, because that's the right thing to do. When you're online on the other hand where you can remain anonymous, you can put your actually opinion and not get punished. That's just how ponies work, and that's why online support for Kira is growing. Its not long now before people start saying it openly in public," Twilight replied to Nightmare Moon.
On the news the anchor mare said, "We would like to apologies as we bring you this world wide broadcast."
"Hum, whats this," asked Nightmare.
Both Twilight and Nightmare looked at the T.V.
"I head up all of the guard across Equestria. I am Tender T. Hooves, otherwise known as T," said a mysterious mare on the television.
"Who is this mare," asked Twilight.
"I have come to you to talk directly to the one known as Kira, and I want to say to him or her that what they're doing is evil." Said Tender
Twilight stood up with anger in her eyes and shouted, "What! No you got it all wrong. I am going to make a world where hard working honest people can live in peace. A ideal world which everyone wants to live in,"
Twilight then looked down at her Death Note and then began to write down Tender T. Hooves name.
"Well lets just see what the world thinks about this. Seeing you die in front of everypony. Nopony will then question that there is someone passing judgement on the world," Twilight said finishing writing Tender's name. Twilight then looked at her watch for forty seconds before looking back at the T.V.
The mare known as Tender T. Hooves died of a heart attack on T.V, and Twilight let out a laugh. Just then two ponies dressed in black suits dragged her out of the room and the T.V cut out, and then went to a screen showing nothing but a old time Equestrian T insignia.
"...I can't believe it. I tested it just in case, but I never thought it could actually be true... Kira, it seems you can kill people without having to be there in person. I wouldn't have been able to believe this if I hadn't just witnessed it." Said a distorted voice. "Kira if you indeed killed the pony on screen called Tender T. Hooves I can tell you that that was a criminal, and that it was not the actual T. For the real T is me, and I am real.
"what," Twilight said shocked over this recent development.
"Now Kira I want to test something else. Kira go on kill me right now if you can!" shouted T. After a moment of silence T spoke again. "It seems you can't kill me, now I know there's ponies you can't kill. You have given me a useful hint.
"Your first killing was overlooked. Your first killing was Nasty Hoof at "The Bank of Canterlot." That was a smaller criminal, and was only ever shown on Canterlot news. I used that to deduce that you lived in Canterlot or were hiding out there. When we said that this was a world wide broadcast we lied. This is only being played in Canterlot. I would have played it world wide if it wasn't for your mistake on killing the small time criminal Nasty Hoof. I hope to speak with you again Kira." After T's speech the T.V went back to regular news.
Twilight was stupefied at what happened. her mind was drawing up a blank. A smile that was sinister then took over her face, and she said.
"Okay T ill play by your little game. I will find out who you are and get rid of you," she paused for a moment. "For I am Justice!" Twilight shouted at the end.
so its a test to find out where each other are, and they don't even know each others names. Ponies are so interesting. thought Nightmare Moon watching the event before her conclude.
