The prison doors opened with a screech with a sound akin to that of a dying animal. The air outside certainly smelled better than inside the prison, but it too had characteristics of a dying animal. Tyler stepped outside into the air, as foul as it was, he embraced it. He was free. Ten long years he sat in that prison, ten long years he waited to get out. He was not informed ahead of time about his release, so it came as a pleasant surprise. He walked forward to the limo in front of the prison fence. his demeanor, cold and unfeeling. Being in prison for murder without an official sentencing will do that to someone. Never knowing when you’re getting out. Never knowing if you’ll ever see your daughter again. Tyler’s demeanor, however, was not the byproduct of his prison experience. He is a murderer, after all. No, his demeanor stems from years of emotional and physical abuse at the hands of his single mother. His anger and impulsiveness is a byproduct of that as well. Tyler’s psyche is more or less a jumble of anger and depression. An endless cycle of hurt something, try not to cry, hurt something, try not to cry...
Tyler rather enjoyed prison, actually. Ponyville prisons, while not comfortable by any means, were nowhere near as bad as prisons in places like Manehattan or Trottingham. It also gave him plenty of time to think, which is something that he could get caught up in for hours. In addition, it kept him away from people, which was, in all honesty, necessary. Then, as they sent him to reform class after reform class, Tyler eventually emotionally matured to the point of only wanting to kill women resembling the ex-wife he had slaughtered ten years before. Now, standing in front of the limo, his face in a permanent scowl, he hoisted his luggage over his shoulder and opened the door to the limo. To address the limo, Tyler’s miraculous release from prison was actually a governmental pardon, supposedly from Princess Celestia herself. He didn’t buy it of course, as he was a low life ex-wife murderer who had dreams of seeing his daughter again, no one special. Tyler put his luggage on the seat next to his and took his place in the back of the limo. Two “royal guards” and a “representative of the princess” sat in front of him. As the “representative” began to speak, the limo began to move.
“Tyler Tosa, correct?” The “representative” was wearing some incredibly expensive looking clothes. Tyler wondered if the mafia had finally found a way to get to him. He was at least grateful he wouldn’t have to die in prison. One of the guards gave him a nasty look and gestured toward the “representative”. They wanted him to speak.
Tyler fixed his hair and said “Yeah, who wants to know?” The “representative” fidgeted in his seat a bit. He gave out an awkward chuckle.
“Um, as I said before, I am a representative of her royal highness Princess Celestia. She has asked me to bring you to her for a meeting.” He smiled a disgustingly fake smile. Tyler already wanted him dead.
The limo had pulled its way through Ponyville and into the outskirts of town, nearing the Everfree forest. Tyler was admiring the trees when one of the guard shoved him.
“Holy fucking shit, what am I supposed to respond with?” Tyler said, angrily. “You want me to humor this motherfucker while he feeds me bullshit and drives me somewhere nice and quiet? So he can fucking shoot me, no doubt!” The limo stopped. It had stopped in a secluded area, right on the edge of the Everfree. Out the window he saw a woman on a picnic blanket. A bottle of his favorite soda sat on the empty side of the blanket. He couldn’t make the woman out, as she had her back turned to him. The guards motioned him out of the limo and over to the picnic blanket, the soda, and the woman. Tyler walked uncertainly toward this woman. She was wearing a hood, no doubt for anonymity. She stood up and turned to face him, removing the hood. Tyler, though brash, was not stupid. He didn't believe it at first, but now he had to. He stopped and shook his head. He laughed.
“Bullshit. No fucking way.” he said, his face locked in a grin that took up most of his face. He laughed harder. The woman in front of him was, undoubtedly, Princess Celestia.
“Hello, Tyler. How are you today?” She smiled. He didn’t.
“I was doing okay. Then I had to come here.” he said, his smile failing to return.
“That’s a shame,” Princess Celestia said, flicking a bug off of her arm “I do have some good news for you, though.” She picked up the bottle of soda and handed it to Tyler. He accepted it gladly and immediately took off the cap. Celestia watched him patiently as he chugged half the bottle on his first drink. He let out a sigh of relief, thinking he'd never get to taste any type of soda, let alone his favorite, again. He looked at her, smiling.
"What's the news?" he said, screwing the cap back on his drink.
"Well," she said, letting a smile creep across her face. "You no longer have to stay in that prison. On a few terms, of course. That's what I've brought you here for, to agree to these terms." She lifted a sandwich out of the picnic basket behind them and offered it to Tyler. He refused and took another swig of his soda.
"What are your terms, princess?" He said sarcastically.
"I need you to be available for something when it comes up. This something will probably kill you, though." Celestia said shyly, almost as if she was trying to be polite. He could hear that hint of demand in her voice though. He knew he had no choice. "However, you'll be able to spend as long as it takes for me to "need you" with whoever, wherever." That's what he wanted to hear. He showed interest with his expression, and took one last drink of his soda.
"Look," he said "You get me a house and some money. Scratch that, a big house and a lot of money, in Ponyville, I'll do whatever the fuck you want me to."
She laughed "I can arrange that, Mr. Tosa."
"Great," he smiled slyly "where do I sign?"
