Equestria has been decimated by the cute yet devilish monsters and, as a last resort before they went into hiding, the royal sisters ordered metal shelters to be built until the parasprites died of starvation. Most ponies never made it to these shelters; including you. You decided you'd be safer running and fighting off the parasprites than sitting in a box that you couldn't get out of once you were inside.
