The Parasprite Wars
Day Two
Previous ChapterDay Two
It’s been years since that fateful day. It has to have been years…I’ve done my best to keep the time with a crude stone sundial I built. The only reason I haven’t picked myself off is because the sun still comes up and the moon still replaces it. The princesses are out there somewhere; no doubt being heavily protected. That’s the only reason I never went into those metal bunkers the princesses had built. That’s the only reason I survive.
Willpower is a pony’s greatest strength. It drives us to accomplish whatever we want, from the pegasi moving the water up from the reservoir to be processed into rain to the earth ponies getting everypony ready for Winter Wrap-Up. Willpower has kept me alive through these hard times. The weather is worse than the day They came. It hasn’t rained in years. My vision is constantly blurred by dehydration, and it almost got me killed once. I saw the body of a pegasus pony lying under some rubble and stumbled towards it. Food, I thought. Disgusting, I know, but when the parasprites have eaten everything else you learn you can’t be picky. I weakly pushed the stones off of the body and noticed small bite marks. So strange that the parasprites would leave a meal, I thought as I buried my flat teeth into the pony’s cold hind hoof. I was startled when I tasted warm blood and the hoof suddenly wrenched from my mouth, quickly kicking me in my jaw. The pegasus pony turned to me as she glared tiredly, her yellow eyes wandering around. Before she flew lazily but quickly off, I noticed her cutie mark: Seven bubbles. What kind of talent is that, anyway?
I managed to make a small den out of that pile of rubble and have been living there ever since, gathering what little supplies there are within trotting distance of Ponyville and preserving them amateurishly with my drained magic. I need to get out of this town. I haven’t found a puddle of water in days…
