Sweater Weather

Chapter 2

Outside it starts to pour

I slowly opened my eyes as I heard my alarm going off, I rubbed the sleep from my eyes as I looked out my window. "Looks like it's another rainy day" I said to myself as I got out of my warm comfy bed, I made my bed and wandered into my bathroom to brush my hair. I took a look at myself in the mirror, I sighed my prismatic hair was still a dull hue of rainbow colors. My eyes were a little brighter than they were yesterday, but I still had dark circles under them, I pulled up the sleeve of the dark navy blue sweater to see the slashes on my arm. I grabbed my razor blade as I slid it gracefully across my arm; I smiled once I saw the crimson blood meet my cyan fur. I watched the blood drip down my arm and onto my floor; I watched it for what seemed like hours before I cleaned my arm up. I pulled my sleeve down as I walked into my kitchen and munched on one of the doughnuts I had bought the other day, after I finished it I brushed my teeth and looked at the time. It was 10:45 so I knew Fluttershy would be awake around this time; I flew out my window into the gloomy, cold and icy rain. It pelted my face as I flew to Fluttershy's cottage; After a short fly I finally made it to Fluttershy's I knocked on her cottage door, I looked at her chicken coop that looked like it got fixed recently. I heard the door opened and I came face to face with the last pony I thought I would see here. Big Mac.

"Oh well howdy Rainbow Dash. How are you today?"  He asked as I saw Fluttershy came into view she gasped.

"Rainbow please come inside right away, I'm glad you finally left your house,"  she said as she ushered me inside, "Goodbye Big Mac thank you for fixing the chicken coop the other day" she finished as she closed the door. She frowned at me as she sat down on her chair. "You look like a mess Rainbow and you'll catch a cold, let me dry that sweater for you and please go and take a warm shower,"  she finished as I pulled the sweater off, I especially made sure to make sure Fluttershy didn't see my arms. I smiled at her as I slowly made my way down the hallway to her bathroom.

"Thanks a lot Fluttershy"  I said as I closed the door, I turned on the water and waited for it to warm up. I stepped into the hot shower and smiled to myself as the hot water cascaded down my lanky body, I started to shampoo my mane, tail and fur and let it set in for a while. I rinsed off the shampoo as I grabbed the conditioner, I let the conditioner stay in my mane and tail for a while to make my hair softer. I rinsed it and felt like I was presentable to come out of the shower now, I stepped out and started to dry off. I dried my hair and brushed it out and smiled at myself as my hair, eyes and fur were becoming a little brighter. I came out of the bathroom and found Fluttershy petting Angle.

"Oh Rainbow you look so warm now, here's your sweater"  she said handing me the sweater. I pulled it over my head and smiled as the scent wafting from it; it smelled like fresh clean rain. I saw that Fluttershy had made me some of her famous rose tip tea; I sipped at it as I started to think of what to say to Fluttershy about everything that has happened in the past couple of weeks.

"So Fluttershy I wanted to tell you that I'm really sorry for ignoring all of your phone calls and ignoring the other girls as well, I talked to Flitter and Twilight yesterday and I plan on seeing Rarity after I'm done here. Tomorrow I plan on meeting up with Pinky Pie and Applejack."  I said smiling at Fluttershy. She smiled back at me as she finished her tea.

"I'm so glad that you are starting to feel better Rainbow. I know Dumbbell hurt you bad, but I'm glad you aren't pushing us away anymore,"  she said taking her cup to the kitchen. I finished my tea and put it in the sink for Fluttershy to finish washing. "So Rainbow I have one question for you. Why on earth do you keep wearing Dumbbell's sweater? I mean I'm sorry for asking, but I'm really curious"  she said drying off her hands as we walked back to her living room. I sighed; I wanted to tell her it was because I was afraid of what they'd think of the slashes on my arms.

"Well, honestly, it's because I'm not ready to let go of him yet. I'm glad I'm finally talking to you ladies again because I've missed you guys so much. After I'm finally ready to take this sweater off I'll let you burn it"  I smiled at Fluttershy. She had the biggest smile on her little face. She got up and hugged me tightly.

"I'm so proud of you Rainbow! I can't wait for us to burn this sweater"  she said as she let go of me. I smiled as I said goodbye to her and started to make my way to Rarity's house. I hoped she was just as forgiving as Twilight, Flitter and Fluttershy. I smiled as I saw Sweetie, Applebloom and Scoots run out the house with Rarity yelling at them, 'Wonder what they did now?' I said to myself. Rarity saw me and smiled.

"Dashie finally, I was worried you weren't going to apologize to me," she acted as she flopped over. I giggled to myself as I helped her up and gave her a huge hug. "I missed you so much Rainbow. I was so worried when you never answered my phone calls. I thought maybe you hated us for warning you about Dumbbell" she said letting me inside.

"Oh Rarity I could never come to hate you ladies. You have all been there for me more than Dumbbell himself was and she was supposed to be my boyfriend" I said as we sat down in her living room. She gave me a huge smile after I said that.

"How is that going for you anyway? Are you over him yet? I see you are starting to look more like your normal self" she smiled. I just nodded.

"It's okay, I suppose, my hair and eyes are getting brighter and brighter every day. I still wear Dumbbell's sweater that he gave me, but when I'm over him I told Fluttershy her and I can burn it" I smirked as I pet Rarity's cat Opal. Rarity smiled at me as she called her cat over.

"Well, when you and Fluttersy do that please count me in on that little adventure," she laughed a little. Her cat hissed at something and ran off.  I nodded at her as I heard the wind starting to pick up, 'looks like I'll be walking home' I thought to myself.

"Rarity I want you to be part of that when I burn it, I want all the girls to be part of it" I smiled as I saw the wind was continuing to pick up speed and intensity.

"Oh my Rainbow it looks like you should head home soon," she said, looking out the window, hoping that Sweetie and her friends had made it to Sweet Apple Acres. I couldn't help but smile at her, I had weighted down my house yesterday before it started to rain.

"Oh no don't worry about it Rare I weighted my house down yesterday before it started to rain, it might be moving around a lot. But it's not moving from its spot" I said laughing. She smiled at me as I sipped on the pop she brought me. I heard knocking at the door.

"Oh, hello there Big Macintosh what can I do for you?" I gasped as I did not want to be seen by him.

"Well, I was wondering where Rainbow Dash was, I saw her at Miss Fluttershy's and I've been wanting to talk to Rainbow for a while since we got in that fight out on my farm. I miss her a lot." he said sadly, I made a meowing noise and Rarity looked at me confused and I shook my head so she knew to tell Big Mac I wasn't here.

"Well Big Macintosh I haven't seen her since Dumbbell broke her heart and she went crazy and stopped talking to all of us" Rarity said in mock anger.

"Oh Dumbbell broke up with her? Wow I really had no idea. Why did she stop talking to you guys? Are y'all supposed to be best friends?" he asked a little concerned.

"Dumbbell told Rainbow that he loved her and then the next day he said he wanted nothing to do with her. And I don't know why she stopped talking to all of us, she stopped going out, she stopped everything except work" Rarity finished sighing a bit.

I heard Big Mac sigh "Well could you tell her I want to talk to her? That is if you see her?" Big Mac asked.

"I will Big Mac, have a good rest of your day" Rarity said, putting on a fake smile and she turned around and looked at me weirdly.

"Why didn't you want him to talk to you?" she huffed.

"Because Rare I'm not ready to face him yet after everything that has happened" I sighed "I think I'm going to head home" I finished as I got up, I gave Rarity a hug and started to walk home. The wind was roaring so because of that it took me forever to walk home. I fluttered up to my house and walked through the door. I shivered and started another fire and lay on my couch, pulling my Wonderbolts blanket tight over me. I stared blankly at the ceiling quietly listening to the TV as I watched the shadows from the fire lick at my ceiling. The warmth from the fireplace started to make me sleepy, 'mmm this fireplace was a great idea' I thought to myself as I turned to face the TV. I stared at it and was trying to figure out what was on the TV when my phone started to ring. I just ignored it and let it go to the Messaging machine.

"Hey its Rainbow Dash leave a message and I'll be sure to get back to you" *beep*

"Hey Rainbow Dash its Big Mac, I really want to talk to you. I didn't realize that Dumbbell and you had broken up, and that you've been ignoring all of your friends. That means you've been all alone these last few weeks, you need somepony to be there for you. I want to be that somepony." I started to cry from Big Mac's message; I rubbed the tears from my eyes as I rolled onto my stomach and hid my face against my arms. 'Why? Why is this happening to me?' I thought to myself as I got up and crawled into my bed, the silver light shining into my room. I smiled to myself as I watched a falling star. 'I wish that Big Mac and I would be friends again' I wished to myself as I started to doze off.
