Rainbow Love

"How DID you create that explosion?", Rainbow said in total awe, just realizing what that pony just did.

Apparently surprised by that question, Quick Draw started to explain. "You really haven't heard of the "Big Bang". Okay, here's the deal. First, a demonstration?"

She nodded and the stalion got in save distance and gave signs for them to prepare for it and to cover their ears. Dinkie could not hold still. This has to be the one she wanted him to repeat.

All the focus being on him, he got into position, built tension up in his legs and you could have just blinked and you would not have seen him start off. But that was not the only thing that happened. In a matter of seconds, something dark started summoning in the place where he was and suddenly exploded.

This time Rainbow noticed something that she didn't before. There was no real sound, but her ears were feeling so much tension that there might as well have been. (Literally) blown away by that show, both the viewers found themselves a couple of meters behind from where they first sat.

"Again, sorry for that. I can normally control it better, but I've done it to many times today.", Quick Draw explaned. "By leaving one place fast enough, I create a vaccum. When it starts to refill itself, the impact of the air and other stuffs creates an explosion of dark matter. Or something like that. I don't get it either."

"Very impressive, but not cooler than my "Sonic Rainboom"."

"That was you? Oh sweet Luna. I was there at the flyers-competition- thingie. I can't believe I didn't recognize you. Care for a race?"

"You better don't. Nopony beats my oncle", Dinkie jumped in, after taking longer to come to her senses than the grown ups.

Fluttered by the compliment and goaded by the thought of once having a worthy opponent, RD accepted the challenge.

"Oh yeah. I'm gonna prove you wrong."

"Okay, the rules. To the library and back and no booms and bangs."

"Got it."

The filly gave the countdown, three, two, one, GO. And both of them started as fast as they could without bringing their specialities in action. First, Rainbow seemed to win, but when they reached the library, she slowed down and so Quick Draw got the top spot. And he expanded the gap between them untill they reached the goal. Dinkie and Quick Draw shouting out in victory as Rainbow got a problem.

The wing she bruised earlier, it collapsed. She couldn't slow down and crashed into a tree sending her into the land of dreams.

Even today, she can't even remember what she remembered before that crash.

The only thing she really remembered was the waking up in the hospital in the evening. And the joy and the warmth in her heart as she heard the words "Are you all right?" coming from her opponent.

„Yeah. What happend?“ she asked, still fuzzy n the head.

„You crashed into a tree and you were unconsious.“

„Oh. Did you bring me here?“

„Yes, that was quite a shock.“, he said with a voice with so much passion in it, that it made Rainbows head even more fuzzier. It was then when Nurse Redheart entered and told them that Rainbow could leave. Quick Draw followed her to her house to make sure that she got there. And so they talked about that race.

„What happened there?“, the stallion asked.

„Just my wing. It collapsed, because of my fall earlier.“

„Again, I’m sorry for that but I meant something different. I won.“

„Yeah, so. You were faster and my wing was hurt.“

„Come on. You would have beaten me if both of them were broken. What was it?“

„Well, I saw how Dinky looked at you. I couldn’t destroy her image of you. You are her superhero.“

Then, Quick Draw sighted followed by a small giggling. „You should have done it. She should know that I’m not invincible. I’m afraid I’ll one day disappoint her in something bigger than a little race.“

„Wow, didn’t see that side of you before.“

„What do you now mean?“

„I mean that before you were that all cheerfull oncle that couldn’t be taken seriously and now you talk such big words all serious and stuff."

"Honestly? Few have."

"So that's my house. We're here.", she pointed out, as they reached her home. It's a strange one. If one didn't know it was a house, he or she would have just assumed it was a cloud, which it practicly is.

„So now our paths part.“,  he said, being the best way to say "bye" he could think of.

„Wait, uhm, you said you were new here. And after what happened today I can’t run around unguarded. And my friends all have something to do tomorrow. How about you look after me tomorrow and I’ll show you the town?“

„Sounds great to me. As it turns out Dinky is going to spend the day with friends so I have time.“

„Good so tomorrow, here, 10 A.M.?

„Sure. Sleep well.“

„You too.“

And like that Rainbow entered her home with the tought in her head: „So that’s what it feels like.“
